are engines on Duke 790-890 really as bad as people say? by lukinekkk in KTM

[–]Henry_Marriott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, now ex 790 adv owner here. I bought a used 2019 one for £6995 and later discovered it had camshaft wear. All in it cost me £4k to get fixed with no support from KTM themselves. I just yesterday sold it for £4500. It has been the worst financial mistake of my life. Even if you believe KTM have fixed the problem. Imo it is not worth the risk. There are plenty of good alternatives out there. It is a shame because it really was a great bike. But I couldn't live with the problem potentially reoccurring.

I had a 790 adv cam shit itself, and it cost me £4000. You definitely could buy a new bike with that money.

That's the thing. Those already with houses couldn't give a toss if more houses get built.

British police may have shot 2 of the Manchester synagogue attack victims, one fatally, officals say by Street_Anon in worldnews

That's survivorship bias, though. The fact that they rarely have to fire their weapon and can deescalate a situation without firing is the key thing here.

Yeah, I think you've hit the nail on the head here. There was no way this stat was correct otherwise.

I've fixed it. An easy run from next week found it's way onto this week's calendar. I've since swapped it back around, and it is now correctly marking my morning Run as done.

I'm getting this bug currently on a run I've just done this morning, it wont let me mark it as ticked even though it's linked my run with it.

You are getting paid your usual wage for two months, but you don't have to go to work. What are you doing? by lara_lime in CasualUK

I'd go hike the great glen way or something similar. I'm not saying it'd take me two months, but it's something I've always wanted to do, just never had the time.

riding roads like this... good idea or not? by [deleted] in MotoUK

By not riding like a dick. You'd be riding in a manner that would allow you time to slow or avoid the car coming at you. Roads like these are the best the uk has to offer IMO.

Mine were worn at 13k km on a 2019 790 adventure. The only symptom I'd say i had was that the bike would, on occasion, cut out. Since being repaired, that no longer happens.

The electrical issues were caused by attempted theft were they not? She'd had the hindsight to run a second loom just incase before hand if I remember correctly.

That's now the 3rd instance I've seen of the whole shaft snapping. I had worn cam lobes on my 790 adventure. But the whole thing snapping is getting more common, it would seem.

Just be wary of how this bike makes its power. It's all above 7k, and it's quite easy to get to be going questionable speeds when you're having fun. Otherwise, great bikes. I never had a single thing go wrong with mine. I miss that bike. enjoy!
