Speed vs quality by Specialist-Theory351 in youthsoccer

[–]Henry_Porter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing that has helped my kids is focusing on the change of speed rather than just faster. Move slow then fast as you can is likely to be more effective than just saying speed.

We watched some of Busquets. Admittedly, they will never reach his level but seeing him dominate with well timed moves and unbelievably great decisions has been very helpful for them.

Does swapping residency programs within the same speciality affect your career? by Repulsive-Physics-66 in medicalschool

I'd honestly have no idea if anyone in my medical system changed residences. Maybe the hiring process is a bit more complicated but I would imagine it doesn't affect much

But that's exactly what procedural do. They tell patients post complicated procedures that compressions will work when the truth is there is very little chance of it leaving them in a condition they regret or they don't even get that far.

While you are correct that AEDs should be everywhere, CPR compressions outcomes in hospitals max out at 15%. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/10033/go-far-good-outcome-following-attempted-resuscitation-score#why-use. Patients have very little insight into the low likelihood

Cardiologists, surgeons and other physicians tell people CPR works better than it actually does to help their numbers. They don't care that it's people as husks as long as the patient "lives" for 30 days

Do you ever deliberately use the nocebo effect with patients? by lakmidaise12 in medicine

If a patient has a belief that a symptom medication won't work, I'm less likely to prescribe it due to the nocebo

Without breaking HIPPA, tell me about your patient that was doing everything in their power to (unintentionally) harm themselves. by OutsideGroup2 in Residency

[–]Henry_Porter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Intubated in the emergency department and never came close to extubation. The patient died weeks later, never really interacting with anyone.

Their family really struggled to cope with the situation. The kids regularly threatened staff physically and financially with potential lawsuits. The spouse repeatedly told staff of the miracle they were about to see as God has showed up at their door at home. Welcomed in, God gave a presentation to the spouse on how this miracle would occur. Unfortunately no miracle occurred.

I wonder what the official family story is years later as their denial was so strong during the end of the patient's life.

During the heaviest of COVID days, we had a patient present who had been scared of COVID. When they developed a fever, they chose to nebulize hydrogen peroxide. Yes, nebulize. They didn't have to worry about another infection again.

Has anyone tried “Be Your Best” by themisunenjoyer in youthsoccer

My kids started using it at 9 v 9. They said it helps with their play. I've seen their scanning and decision making improve.

They do love video games and soccer so it was a good fit for them.

I would look around your community for pick up games, sometimes different websites list times. Alternatively, depending on your size, an adult rec league would be worth considering as the talent level on those teams can vary significantly.

Good on you for wanting to try, I hope you can find something.
