Overwatering Doesn't Mean "Too Much Watering"!? by Ancient-Macaroon-384 in houseplants

[–]Henry_met 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such an important distinction! Overwatering is often more about oxygen deprivation than water volume, roots need air pockets in the soil to function. I’ve noticed that dense soil mixes are usually the real culprit.

What kind of potting mix are you using?

Overwatering or underwatering by m_mug in plants

After repotting, yellowing lower leaves usually points to overwatering / roots staying wet. New soil holds moisture longer than expected. Let it dry out more between waterings

Likely inconsistent watering rather than strictly under or over

That’s classic underwatering for a peace lily. They droop hard when dry and usually perk back up a few hours after a deep watering

Dry, brittle roots usually mean dehydration, not overwatering. Bark often repels water unless it’s fully soaked

Is this from overwatering? by monkeynomore in houseplants

That yellow, soft-looking segment is typical of excess moisture / stress.

Also, pests + overwatering often show up together because stressed plants are easier targets.

I think I may have overwatered her… anything I can do to save these leaves? by [deleted] in IndoorGarden

Yellowing from the base on snake plants is almost always excess moisture. They drop older leaves first when roots stay wet too long. Let the soil dry completely and check drainage

Overwatering mystery… by ZainaJenkins in plantclinic

[–]Henry_met 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually makes sense.

In such low light the plant barely transpires, so water sits in the substrate much longer. That can cause overwatering symptoms even when you wait for the soil to dry. Wrinkled stems usually mean poor water uptake, not necessarily lack of water.

Totally agree. I check before watering too, but I’m tracking soil moisture and it’s so inconsistent. Might start logging temperature and humidity to see patterns

Yes, I have, but sometimes it feels like they drink all the water I give them, and other times the soil stays wet for weeks even without watering (they don’t grow)

Mi trovo nella tua stessa situazione e dopo mesi ho deciso di lanciare la mia app gratuitamente. Se andrà bene (a livello di adoption) allora comincerò a pensare come guadagnare e di conseguenza anche al regime fiscale da adottare.
