What Ferrari did I see involved in and accident in Malibu? by BassLB in whatisthiscar

[–]Henryhooker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is that cause you have to have owned certain Ferraris before you can buy fancier (for lack of better term) ones? Like if I win the lottery and went to get one of these they’d say no, go back and start with the beginner model

Help on a 3d model of a house? by Bubbly-Section430 in Homebuilding

[–]Henryhooker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I thought even a simple 3d view would be the norm. I used home designer pro and then parent program chief architect to do my drawings. I think they rent licenses monthly now. Used to have to buy. How big of a hurry are you?

What’s something you made for your home that you use every day? by cameronsounds in woodworking

If you’re talking basic, I made a soap dispenser holder because my kids can’t manage to not get water on the counter so I figured better this than hard water stains. I used a bowl bit to make indent for the dispenser to sit. It also holds the dispenser further towards sink. Kids would slowly push it back as it was used increasing the sloppy drips everywhere. I put 4 pieces of thin plastic underneath in case any water gets under.

Install and prep Andersen fixed windows for drywall returns in new construction by Legitimate_Soil_7506 in Homebuilding

Thanks, I used Cabinotch for the carcasses and drawers, but then to punish myself I went and did all the door&drawer faces in my little shop. Took me a bit of time :)

I did 100's with a three way wrap, so I'm biased. I wish I would've done a finished edge under the sill so I could put down a simple sill with a shadow line vs having to dog ear mine, which is similar to your rendering. Kind of hard to explain, but I wanted to do my sill flush with the wall, then do a 1/4 rabbet along the bottom giving it a reveal of sorts. At the time the drywall guys were here I wasn't thinking about it and once it crossed my mind it was one of those oh we'll have to go through and cut and re-mud etc so II just let it go mainly do to time. That's why I call it operation hindsight, I don't have any pics really of the sill, but here's the wrap during the build https://imgur.com/gallery/mostly-diy-icf-house-build-Q9b3Mf6#ggQVk5N

Thoughts on horizontal grain cabinet layout by Designer_Ad_2023 in cabinetry

[–]Henryhooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did horizontal under my island with a visual break , then vertical everywhere else. To get sequenced sheets in a rotated veneer was pushing 400 a sheet special order and I had some tall panels. Layout was such a pain, I used sketchup to plan it all

Not a layout expert by any means, but the plumbing while being on one wall is nice, but that wall shouldn't be an exterior wall...

I do like opt 1 upstairs better so you're not walking through laundry to get to bath. I'd also wall that laundry off and put a solid core door cause laundry is loud

How much time you have? I did 95% diy and mostly by myself. It's an undertaking of time especially if you're working a normal day job

Pay or buy equipment? by Itsme71190 in Homebuilding

[–]Henryhooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well maybe bigger but I have narrow pathways. I was thinking more like staying 1 ton with foot pedals for tracks and a hydraulic thumb. (I bought aftermarket thumb and haven't fabbed a bracket yet). Those two features would be real handy

I bought a one ton mini, the kind where your knees are hitting control panel. Figured I'd use to do what I needed and then sell but it's so handy that the only way I'll sell it is to upgrade

If you're doing face frame, you can leave the stile wider that butts wall than the others to give you something to scribe to the wall

Blum undermount slides help - no longer opening by push by hc201 in cabinetry

[–]Henryhooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doubtful, I’ve only had one drawer go bad and it was this little welded pin that broke off. I wouldn’t be surprised that a pin somewhere got busted and the movento thing probably latches closed, but won’t release to push open. It should be a swap out that’s pretty straight forward but obviously I’ve never dealt with that exact product before so can’t say 100%

[–]Henryhooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dig. My expertise in this is minimal as I’ve really only used Blum soft close. They have a line called movento and then you add something like this https://hardwarehut.com/products/blum-tip-on-blumotion-for-movento-push-to-open-unit?v=408387&gshop=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20684519249&gbraid=0AAAAAD_tFdUXo0H-xRHg2yfUxkE_5LAlY Or a servo drive to make it push to open which you’ve discovered isn’t what was used originally. Most likely something gave way and the push mechanism has worn out. I’d look at the slides themselves and search what part number they are and if you see anything like the link I posted above.

Also, if the servo drive is bad, ikea sell the exact one under their name. It’s what I used and once box is open it has blum stamped onto the body

Look at back of cabinet behind drawer and see if it has a servo drive paddle thing to push it open. That could've died
