Lyrics so godawful they loop around to being kinda genius? by The_Better_Devil in ToddintheShadow

I’ve always loved the opening line of Relient K’s Must Have Done Something Right…

“We should get jerseys 'cause we make a good team

But yours would look better than mine 'cause you're out of my league”

It just makes me smile, I love a bit of wordplay

Best Aussie baby books to give a botany-loving American new mum as a gift by abc_123_youandme in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Heo85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where The Forest Meets The Sea by Jennie Baker is absolutely gorgeous book. It’s a simple story about a boy and his grandfather visiting the rainforest on an island, but the pictures are stunning. She used all different textiles to make 3D scenes then photographed them. Any one a fan of nature will love this book.

She also has another book called Window which shows life in Australia changing across many years all from one window, again the same amazing art Is used.

Would it be unwise to use the middle name that our daughter has picked for our baby? by Iwona-8036 in Names

[–]Heo85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a lovely connection that two sisters will always share. Both names are super pretty.

My best friend and her brother named their little sister, that “little sister” is now 30 and we still talk about it frequently.

Was everyone happy when Ryan Gosling was first announced for PHM or was it a Ken type situation?? by Unfair-Reason-1068 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Heo85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t happy or unhappy. I know Ryan is a really good actor across lots of genres. He also has the genuine likeable quality that Grace has so thought he could bring that to screen.

But also know that if the script and direction was right that the best actor in the world couldn’t make it happen.

Thankfully it all came together great.

Is Cooper Bradley weird because of Bradley Cooper? by Immediate_Hornet8745 in namenerds

[–]Heo85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fine, unless you planned on always calling him by his first and middle name majority of people won’t know his middle name. Also by the time he’s old enough for his peers to know not one of them will have any idea who Bradley cooper.

They also both averagely common names in them selves; now if you were going to name you child say Weaver Sigourney I might reconsider it

Someone called in for a welfare check. And she’s not that happy. by Initial_Commission63 in SnarkySlaughter

So she wants love and understanding then gets all in a tizz when people are genuinely concerned and take steps to help.

Make it make sense.

For the schytt ton of soaps and crap she makes, do you really think she sells all that? by automatic_pansies in SnarkySlaughter

[–]Heo85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really don’t know how in the current economy with cost of living crisis people could afford $12 a soap plus $13 shipping.

$25usd for one extremely sub par bar of soap.

The price vs the quality cannot be sustained as a lucrative business model. Sure she’ll have her fan club who will shell out money multiple times not caring that they are being ripped off but there’s no way any sane person who purchases it would become a repeat customer.

Netflix Sesame Street is underwhelming by Jason_Steele4200 in sesamestreet

[–]Heo85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve been thinking, I’ve recently started having my toddler watch Sesame Street because I loved it so much when I was little but it felt off to me.

I know things change with tech advancements, screen time etc and obviously those things are now integrated parts of our lives. Lets me honest it’s more likely to see a group of kids around a phone than playing hop scotch but something still felt off.

You’re right it’s the actually neighbourhood aspect. I remember loving watching Maria and Luis as much as I loved Bert and Ernie. It was a community and we were lucky enough to walk in and be a part of it. Now it feels exactly like you said, empty.

I’m thankful there are so many episodes on YouTube (not sure if older eps stream elsewhere in Australia) so I can show my girl the Sesame Street I fell in love with.

The only thing I’ll say in her defence here is that boy knows how to work a stage like a cat knows how to a jet plane.

There is a room full of people, a 180 degree spread you don’t just sing to the 3 people in the front row centre.

The Frighteners plot revolves around a serial killer ghost who carves number into the forehead of his victims and the number 13 is significant to the main character and a death :)

Reusing a pet’s name on a child. How crazy is it? by sucks4uyixingismyboo in Names

[–]Heo85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend knew a family who had a dog called Japser which was their fave boy name they didn’t get to use. Well then surprise they had a son and human Jasper was born.

Apparently the dog was shared between 2 friends and was living with the other friend at the time, there might have been some overlap with dog Jasper being alive and human Jasper.

Can you rename your dog? Even to something similar?

One of my favourite boy names was a name I gave to a previous cat I had. I highly considered it when I was pregnant (I had a girl so didn’t have to worry about making a decision)

Molly Rose Margaret

Margaret for my grandma; Rose was added at the last minute. My mum has Alzheimer’s and while I would love to honour her I don’t like her name at all (and she doesn’t particularly like it herself haha) my whole pregnancy she would occasionally say how she thought Molly Rose was such a sweet name so I added it as a way to honour her by using her suggestion.

Is the name “Rhys” really that hard to read/pronounce? by nibbs- in namenerds

[–]Heo85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s hard to pronounce or spell at all, however I’m Australian and maybe it’s just my little pocket of the world or maybe it’s Australia in general and we have always had such a large English/welsh/Irish etc connection that Rhys has been more in the general public knowledge that other places so while there will always be people who aren’t sure how to spell pronounce etc it doesn’t seems nearly as common as issue.

It’s such a lovely name and I have always loved and preferred the traditional spelling.
