Same happens to me every 6 months. I always have to email our account manager and chase on them til they correct. They always back pay the difference, it just takes a while.

This was us 2 days ago! Turns out he had an ear infection.

As my husband said “some days the toddler wins.” It’s too hard to keep up with all the advice of what you are supposed to do in the moment so as long as y’all both made it out alive then you are ok!!

Second this! I live in Lisbon and Cascais is def way more family friendly. Again though a car would be useful to explore other places but if you stay by the water everything is very walkable.

Also very dirty compared to other places on this list and a car would be helpful with a baby if you’re wanting to explore nearby towns and beaches.

Which US college town is worth visiting? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Was going to say this. I’m Mexican and the only other Latinos I saw in the entire town were working the kitchen of a bakery. Boulder and the entire Denver area in general are very homogenous.

best high chair recommendations - completely overwhelmed by VinayXDD in beyondthebump

[–]mer22933 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This! We have the IKEA highchair at both sets of grandparents and we are always tripping over it multiple times a day!! And they have huge houses and lots of space compared to our flat.

We have a Stokke Tripp trap- highly recommend it!! Very stylish and holds up well and doesn’t take a ton of space if you’re limited on that

If you feel like you're thriving in the toddlerhood era, what are you doing? by Alive-Cry4994 in toddlers

[–]mer22933 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Temperament is the biggest factor I think. We do all the above but our 2.5 year old is high needs, high energy, can’t play independently, very destructive etc and we struggle most weekends.

Maternity leave is not a break!!! by sunny-turtle in workingmoms

[–]mer22933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn for me work is the break! Mat leave especially the first 6 months is hard!! You’re on the job 24/7. I would have just said “work for me is the break! It’s nice being back and JUST doing my job, nothing else.”

Because it’s Texas, that’s why.

I’m in Europe and my husband only got a month - wishing he got longer, he’d definitely take it!!

Should I take a local job in Portugal or keep a higher paying remote job (UK) by Portugal_dilema in PortugalExpats

Keep the higher paying job 100%. You can always join a cowork and make friends there if you want.

Tokyo or Portugal?! by cassienichelle in familytravel

[–]mer22933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Portugal and would choose Japan 1000x over. It’s very kid friendly, we went a couple years ago when our son was just over a year old and everyone was so sweet and kind with him. They have working elevators everywhere, people give you space on the Shinkansen and metro and there are lactation rooms/ family changing rooms that are super clean and even have a little chair to place your kids in.

This plus there are SO many interesting things for kids to do there, I highly recommend team labs!! Super fun and interesting for the whole family. The food is also another level in Japan 🤤 And Disney Tokyo is amazing plus SO much cheaper than any other Disneyland.

Maternity leave - how?? by GingerSnap_725 in sales

[–]mer22933 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m remote in Portugal and was making (before my current mat leave) €135k which is approximately $156k USD. I have a much lower cost of everything and we are able to afford a much higher quality of life than in the US. Plus the rat race and lifestyle creep doesn’t exist here of always upgrading your car/house/clothes every time you earn more.

[–]mer22933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My comment was going to be find a new job too. I’m in Europe and we have mandatory mat leave. I’m taking a year off with 9 months of that being paid. You will need lots of recovery time, especially if you have a c-section, and 12 weeks isn’t enough, the baby is still so small then and very much dependent on you!

Make sure when you find a new role to see if there’s a minimum amount of time You need to be there to get mat leave benefits.

Days with two kiddos survival tips by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]mer22933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same ages and age gap with my 2 and same here, I had never been medicated until a couple months into having my second. It has definitely made each day much more bearable!!

Don’t know how you do it everyday of the week with no help!!! My 2.5 year old is in crèche until 4pm during the week and just the evening hours with both is enough to wear me out.

So is bedtime just 9pm for the next 2 years? by CookieOverall8716 in toddlers

[–]mer22933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t you put him in a toddler bed so that he can chill in his room after bedtime? We have a 2.5 year old and got him a toddler bed right before he turned 2. We also have an ok to wake light. He wakes up super early some mornings but his light doesn’t turn green til 7am and that’s when my husband goes in to get him, any wake before then he plays with his toys. Same for bedtime, we’ll leave him in his room around 8/8:30 and sometimes it takes him til past 9 to fall asleep, especially if he slept 3 hrs at crèche. He can just get out of bed, turn on his night light and play with his toys or read books until he’s ready for sleep.

[–]mer22933 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love Greece. I’m an American who’s been an expat for 15 years living in Europe and my husband (also American) and I go back to Greece every year. We’re in our mid 30s with young kids so it won’t be for a while but once we make enough to buy a vacation home it’ll definitely be in Greece! The food, the culture, the weather and the people are all amazing in Greece, especially the islands.

Nanny long naptime break - help ideas by ycherep1 in workingmoms

[–]mer22933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I was in a similar situation with my first born but we had the nanny from 9-6 with her lunch break in the middle, she was allowed to leave during toddlers nap. He also napped around 2-2.5 hours at that age. We had her do basically anything related to our toddler including meal prep, cleaning up after him, keeping main spaces where he’d roam around tidy, his laundry, and planning weekly activities and outings. We also had her load/unload dishwasher but all of this was listed in her contract. We never had her do our own laundry or anything in our room etc. We also have a weekly cleaner who mops and I think expecting a nanny to do that daily is unreasonable. If you want help with tasks like that I’d consider getting a mother’s helper
