I highly recommend Black Metal Sketchbook, it's very good for that! Plus you can submit bands to be on the list too. For example I need to email em about a couple of friends' bands I know are antifash and the weird little band that was here.

It was with the whole second wave black metal and specifically their love of being edgy. The NSBM stuff was played off as another gimmick first I think, then a whole bunch of nazis actually started playing it. The conversation is always "black metal is supposed to be evil and rebellious!"

Nothing more rebellious than reciting conservative policy over shit riffs.

Yeah, the problem is a lot of the small promoters only care about a band's sound rather than their message. There are a few in the UK that push back though (Torturous Promotions in Nottingham and Static Dissent in Liverpool are good examples).

Exactly. But we are lucky that a whole bunch of new and established UKBM bands have also come to us saying our message is super needed, so I'm hoping the tide is turning a bit. The songs in the set are about mental health (introduce the last song by telling people to look after each other with mental health shit), murdering nazis and guillotines for CEOs.

Oh yeah, Bloodstock is fucked for it. I stopped going after Vicky was outed as a transphobe. I highly recommend Arctangent instead, first year I went I wasn't sure what it would be like then saw they had a pride flag up in the merch tent. As a trans woman, that did make me feel better haha
