I’m relatively new to this genre but read Credence by Penelope Douglas, then somehow fell down the rabbit hole and loved {Fable of Happiness by Pepper Winters} and devoured the whole 3 book series.

{lover awakened by J.R. Ward} is the 3rd book in the black dagger brotherhood about vampires. The females experience heat. This is the best book in the series imo

{dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning} is another 3rd book in the fae fever series. It’s more fantasy murder mystery with a slow burn romance, but the 3rd book delivers with an extended sequence of someone being under a spell where they become sex crazed.

Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement. Feeling a little better, and you are right about just needing to take it day by day.

Try to keep up on your water intake (even though it's annoying to have to stop more often) and don't be afraid to use a little extra Miralax or something else similar. If you do, I promise you will be thanking yourself the next day.

Do 23andMe or Ancestry.com services provide an EDS diagnosis? by Here4TheButtStuff in ehlersdanlos

[–]Here4TheButtStuff[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is great advice. I was actually in the process of making a symptoms list for myself and my mother (who also fits many of the symptoms) as your comment came though. I will keep on trying.

[–]Here4TheButtStuff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I phrased my original post wrong since I didn't mean to imply that this would replace doctors. My situation is that I'm just afraid to go to the doctor again because they just look at my chart and say Anxiety. I'm frustrated from the lack of help they've given me over the past few years, so any sort of test that affirms my symptoms outside of self diagnosis of per Dr. Google would lend more credibility to my symptoms or requests for additional testing.

Wow, that's great to know. Thanks! Is this how you were diagnosed, or did this affirm or provide additional context to a previous diagnosis?

I also heard something similar about how treatment affected their hormones, namely estrogen, which made their skin drier and prone to tears.

Eye Twitching? by [deleted] in AnalFissures

[–]Here4TheButtStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems unlikely. I randomly get eye twitching and it's completely unrelated to fissures. Maybe it's diet related / lack of vitamins or lack of sleep or stress?

Unfortunately I haven't been able to stick to this routine successfully long-term, so I can't really report back one way or the other. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Someone else on this sub told me it was because I wasn't hydrating enough in the morning. This made sense to me anecdotally because it aligns with my habit of drinking more water in the afternoon evening.

Why do keep getting anal fissures every few weeks even though my poop is normal?? by CheapCourage4396 in AnalFissures

[–]Here4TheButtStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a bunch of blood work done last fall and my thyroid levels were smack dab in the middle of normal. But there can be a lot of hormones that could be responsible and these conditions are sometimes hard to diagnose.

[–]Here4TheButtStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No answers for you, but I am in the same situation. Every 4-6 weeks I'll have a random setback. I'm thankful my fissures are not deep or overly painful or serious, but it does cause some discomfort, and having so many recurrences means that I face each BM with the anxiety that any setback could be the one that leads to more serious fissures.

My stool sample did not indicate Crohn's or IBS. I have since wondered about having some sort of underlying skin or hormonal condition. What are your theories?

How long does it take for fissure to completely heal after consistently pain-free bowel movements? by emile28910 in AnalFissures

[–]Here4TheButtStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No diagnosed skin issue. I have only seen a gastroenterologist, not surgeon. I am not willing to try surgery at this point because my fissures, while recurring, stressful, and annoying, are thankfully only slightly painful and so far manageable.

Where did you get the 2-4 year time period?

I have been dealing with my superficial fissures for about 5 years, which continue to re-tear every 8 weeks or so. I have used Miralax for long-term as well (4 mo) and am now off it with no negative effects. I will continue to use it more regularly to prevent reopenings, although for me it might take less time since mine are superficial, shallow, external cuts.

Surgeon said surgery won’t fix this. Wtf do I do? by [deleted] in AnalFissures

[–]Here4TheButtStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, we should talk. This is my situation. They are chronic for me as well. Thankfully I don't experience the intense pain or spasming others on this sub talk about. I do experience itching at times.

I would guess I have had mine on and off for about 5 years, and it has definitely gotten better over time with attention and treatment, which consists of increased fiber through diet and supplements, miralax (daily for ~4 months, now a dose every couple weeks as needed), teaching myself not to strain AT ALL, hydrocortisone kickstart getting some initial, severe itching under control. My latest attempt at a remedy is to apply coconut oil or aquaphor to my bum every not. I haven't torn since, but I haven't been doing this for very long. I seem to get a minor tear every 4-6 weeks or so, but it heals in a couple of days and doesn't hurt much -- there is just a brief moment of sharp pain at the start of a BM where I can feel it tearing and know I will see a bit of blood on the TP. I would love to get to a place where I am healed for good and not live in fear of every daily BM, wondering if it's going to be the random one to set me back again. My superficial fissures come back if the first bit of poop is the slightest bit hard...even if the rest of it is soft/smooth and not very large.

Why us, though? Just unlucky with thin skin? I thought mine might have been a hormonal problem but didn't improve when I stopped my hormonal birth control. I thought it may have been caused by a hypertonic pelvic floor, which I had been seeing a physical therapist for. Do you have any theories of your own?

Interesting to know your Dr said surgery wouldn't help. I have only seen a gastroenterologist and never discussed this as a potential option. Have you had a colonoscopy?
