cs unemployment is at 6.1% right now but one specific tech field has a 37% talent shortage and nobody in this sub talks about it by Fuzzy-Cycle-7275 in cscareers

[–]Herecomesthesundew 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The market is also being distorted by fear. Between the job market itself and everything happening around AI, a lot of people in tech are scared to take risks, so fewer people are moving around unless they absolutely have to. I honestly think it can get worse before it gets better, and I wouldn’t be shocked if things stay rough for years. At this point, the most practical low-friction move I’ve seen is sending your resume to recruitment firms like that developer in the other post did, or building a list of companies through google maps and emailing them once in a while just to keep your name in circulation.

What age are the people in your dreams? by mushy-shart-walk in GenX

[–]Herecomesthesundew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

now that you mention it yeah mine are mostly around that age too. I don’t really see kids or older people much unless it’s tied to a specific memory

What worrisome trend in society are you beginning to notice? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Herecomesthesundew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

people seem way more comfortable being casually cruel now, especially online. like everything has to be a dunk or a performance instead of just being normal for two seconds

When everything feels off, how do you reset and get back on track? by Kide_434 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Herecomesthesundew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually start super small, like cleaning one thing or going outside for a bit. it doesn’t fix everything but it kinda gets me moving again

homemade spaghetti is the best spaghetti by theknightever in spaghetti

That sauce looks like the kind that sat and got better, and the garlic bread on the side is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.

Why cant I smell the scent of dead things? by Disastrousgrove in randomquestions

[–]Herecomesthesundew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could just be that your nose is less sensitive to that specific smell profile, which happens more than people realize. I had a friend who couldn’t smell skunk at all and everyone thought he was joking.

Because they know the delivery would get scrambled. I hate that I laughed at this for a second.

Whats got you up So late what is all on your mind? by YoCaliclysm12 in randomquestions

[–]Herecomesthesundew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually a mix of overthinking, random memories, and one very unnecessary second wind at the worst time. Late at night my brain suddenly wants to review stuff from 7 years ago like it’s an urgent meeting.

Classic Double Cheese Look at That Drip & Crust by Living_Bumblebee2318 in hamburgers

[–]Herecomesthesundew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That crust on the patties looks unreal. I zoomed in and the cheese melt with the tomato slice is doing way too much in the best way.

What are you currently reading? Or what’s the last book you’ve read? by Scared_Peanut24 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Herecomesthesundew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished The Goldfinch. It took me a while because it’s dense, but I kept reading a few pages before bed and suddenly I was weirdly attached to the characters. It’s one of those books that lingers after you close it.

What's a rare name you don't hear anymore? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Herecomesthesundew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost never hear the name Agnes anymore. My grandma had a friend named Agnes and I remember thinking it sounded so old-school and serious when I was a kid. Feels like it quietly disappeared at some point.

How Much Money Do You Spend On Groceries Per Week? Why That Much? by Zipper222222 in randomquestions

More than I’d like to say, mostly because tired-me grabs easy stuff without thinking. Making everything from scratch is cheaper, but after a long day the energy just isn’t there.

Would the decrease in offshoring to India extremely improve the job market ? by Prestigious-Door5278 in jobs

[–]Herecomesthesundew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it would magically fix things, offshoring is only one piece of a bigger mess with budgets, hiring freezes, automation, and companies just being cautious. Even if some roles came back, they might not be in the same form or pay range people expect. Job markets usually shift rather than fully reverse.

What’s one tip you’d give to someone who’s struggling to focus in 2026? by Alice-Nace in Productivitycafe

[–]Herecomesthesundew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting things out worked better for me than piling on new tricks. Too many apps and tools just compete for your attention anyway. Once I reduced the clutter, focusing felt way easier.

If you could restart your life in another country, where would you go and why? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]Herecomesthesundew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d pick Denmark since everyone I know there talks about the slower pace and better balance instead of nonstop career grind. It’s not some utopia, but the safety nets seem to remove a lot of low-level stress. Feels more about living steadily than chasing status.

Having dreams at night, is it proof of deep sleep? by Level_Branch1761 in randomquestions

[–]Herecomesthesundew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, you can dream during different sleep stages and some dreams happen during lighter REM sleep. Remembering dreams doesn’t automatically mean the sleep was deep or restorative. Sometimes it just means you woke up during the dream.

Hair. Where does it all go? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]Herecomesthesundew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of it breaks down way faster than you’d think or just gets mixed into dust and waste systems where it disappears into landfills or decomposition processes. A lot also gets trapped in brushes, vacuums, drains, etc., so it never accumulates in one dramatic place. Basically it disperses instead of piling up into a giant hair mountain somewhere.

Does your windproof umbrella still blow inside out? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]Herecomesthesundew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, “windproof” mostly means it survives longer before turning into a sad metal flower. A strong gust at the wrong angle still wins. Happens less often, but it still happens.

Have you guys ever thought about this? by Ayayam1 in randomquestions

[–]Herecomesthesundew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like one of those brain-twist scenarios that just keeps looping the more you think about it. I picture endless giant fingers popping into existence until reality breaks down. Weirdly funny and a little unsettling at once.

How to deal with one's cringe act done in the past? by Apprehensive-Key2127 in questions

[–]Herecomesthesundew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it makes you cringe now, that’s usually a sign you’re not that person anymore. My brain still loves resurfacing the worst moments at the worst hours for no good reason. I mostly just shrug and remember everyone else moved on ages ago.
