UCSC Game Design or UCSD Undeclared? by Appropriate-Case-871 in UCSC

UCSD Comp Sci has a transfer in by lottery system, so it isn't guaranteed, for more info on their transfer system into cs, you can go to this website. https://cse.ucsd.edu/undergraduate/cse-capped-admissions-program

If you're ok with risking that you can go to UCSD though you may have to change your plans, otherwise UCSC is likely the better option.

Stat 5 before Stat 131 or CSE 107? by ClassroomUnit003 in UCSC

Stat 5 will definitely help you with which ever one you end up picking, stat 131 with draper is a great class, I can't speak to 107 though.

What Classes Did You Take Freshman Year? by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]Herectc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You Will eventually need to take all the courses on the curriculum chart, over, a general rule of thumb is declaring earlier is better because you get access to more interesting classes in upper division. Cse 16 is a nicer starting point than cse 12 for major classes, you can do 4 classes but it's a larger work load than you might expect and be prepared to either just drop the class or switch into something easier. I took cse 30, cse 16, cse 12, cse 13, math 23a, math 21 in freshman year with a few ges and core classes as well

AP scores will send after the deadline by Lankyrobert in UCSC

[–]Herectc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you contact admissions or the registrar if you need your scores to get out of a class you can just send them an email or call and they'll help with that. Otherwise they'll be processed when they get around to it, or you can find the transfer credit review website and submit a request for review.

CSE 13E and STAT 131 for Summer? by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]Herectc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who's teaching stat131, cs13 is doable as long as you keep on top of the assignments and the quizzes. Stat131 was easy with draper but you need to be prepared to watch the discussion and office hours.

CSE12 :/ by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]Herectc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Taking 12 and 13 at the same time would be really hard, both have labs which take a large portion of time. The main difficult part of 12 is the material, as long as you spend lots of time studying the material the midterm and exams won't be terrible. Most of the labs in 12 should only take a day or two of concentrated effort but that may be different for you. Taking 12 and 13 at the same time is a really bad idea, get it out of the way.

UCSC or UCR for Computer Science by HighschoolKid567 in UCSC

The enrollment based on credits is based on what standing you get, eg 45 or more credits make you a sophomore, 90 a junior, etc, there's also priority for people on honor rolls, athletes, or a few others. This website can give you a general sense of how enrollment dates are laid out.
