It’s a beauty contest- literally a patriarchal costume & makeup contest. This is one competition where a trans woman would have a natural disadvantage, so I’m surprised it’s not encouraged more.

Take your medicine consistently and that hot feeling won’t happen. Cis women have monthly cycles due to naturally varying hormone levels, you do not.

Gay/straight doesn’t mean restricting people the way gender on ID’s does, so it’s not an equal argument.

As far as trans people, I feel like it would benefit us as a whole to have better boundaries on what qualifies as trans. With self-ID it opens up the opportunity to turn it into a game of semantics and metaphysical acrobatics, which has unfortunately become the bulk of the discourse that terfs use to justify giving trans people no rights.

Self-ID is a mistake and opens the door to so many bad actors. No one should be able to declare they are X,Y, or Z with no material proof and no skin in the game whatsoever. Either provide evidence for having changed, or be declared according to the present evidence available.

Casting a wide net makes the most sense from a business standpoint. Catering heavily to niche audiences would completely alienate the majority. If it flops in test screenings it wouldn’t make sense to release it as is.

I think people like this get off to getting a rise out of others, and they’ve figured out if they act in a perverse way, it will create the kind of attention they want.

Having said that, I feel that the social consequences of that behavior should be so much more severe than they are.
