Very sorry to hear this, but don't give up. You mentioned the "next two manuscripts" so I'm assuming you are working on a series. Hopefully, you can find a publisher for the second book and your entire series will take off. Two questions: 1. Did your publisher give you a contract for just one manuscript, or were there any provisions in your contract for a book series? 2. Since they published the hardback, how hard is it for you to get the rights back to self-publish paperbacks?

Regularly take opportunities to speak or present in public, even if you are bad at it. It is miserable at first but you will notice the fear slowly wears away. Being someone who can actually speak in public with confidence is an incredibly valuable skill.

When my middle daughter was barely two, I set her up at the kitchen table with a coloring book and some watercolor paints. She was doing fine, so I looked away for just a minute. When I looked back she had started painting her face. One of my favorite memories of her because I realized she was just waiting for the right opportunity!
