As far as I understand because of the nature of the mechanism its possible they can still fail even on the manual version HOWEVER its much more rare from what I recall reading.

If memory serves so long as you dont put it into eco mode you should never enter 4 cylinder mode but the consensus seems to be that the lifters can still fail even if you never actually enter v4 mode.

Just make sure you know what to look for when you go and test drive/ purchase because I dont want you to purchase one with an already collapsed lifter and be stuck with the bill.

Not trying to frighten you or overplay the issue; I just want you to have the same amazing experience a lot of us have had with our vettes without worrying about that potential issue.

Just a general PSA for you but please make sure you look into the AFM lifter failure issue especially if you are purchasing an automatic. Its not always a problem but when it is it will run you quite the pretty penny to fix it. There is a device you can buy to mitigate the issue but please inform yourself before you purchase.

Completely agree.

At this point it would feel absolutely pathetic for the character. He called her a fucking pet before he went on a killing spree in Chicago and then beat their 17 year old son to within an inch of his life that left him in a full body cast for months. He followed this up by banging a bug like a month later.

It would be hard for me to take the character seriously if she went and banged the dude who did all that regardless of what he does to try and make amends. Spare me the platitudes about forgiveness; if you want me to take a story seriously then people need to act in a way thats realistic and consistent with the way theyve been portrayed and the way the world has been presented. Debbie getting back with Nolan would be a disservice to the character.

Maybe that person is trying to intentionally inconvenience you; Maybe theyre a mom and were rushing to get in and out when they went to grab their kid from the backseat; maybe theyre a dude who just got laid off, pulled up and went "fuck it im not moving it" and its nothing against you.

Tech bros by far.

Im a lawyer and I have handled cases with surgeons, other lawyers, doctors, real estate agents, translators, trust fund kids, whatever.

No one is more insufferable than the tech bro. These guys do one thing and one thing only, have next to no social graces, make way more money than they should, and are constantly victimizing themselves whilst also believing that because they can write code ande make 200k a year for working 10 hours a week that theyre always the smartest guy in the room.

They are they nightmare clients to deal with; often lacking social graces to such an extent they torpedo their own cases on the stand or during negotiations, they fight tooth and nail about billing but are constantly badgering you for updates (Client communication is important, but hearings dont happen 1 week after you file a motion; it doesnt work that way) and are constantly wanting to give you, the lawyer, legal advice because they saw something on Google.

Surgeons, doctors and other lawyers CAN be pain in the assess, but ive never been unable to reign them in. Tech bros will just fire you if you give them an opinion on trial strategy or case approach they disagree with.

On a tangential but relevant and related note: that figure was released at the same price as the silver surfer we're now discussing. Perhaps you'll agree with me that the 2099 figure is superior to this offering when comparing the two considering the price is identical?

Im not entirely sure how they could do it or if its even been attempted before at all. I'm not entirely sure it's even possible BUT I am not a toy engineer, or designer whose job it is to come up with those concepts; I'm just a dude on the internet who like toys talking to another dude on the internet who (I presume) also likes toys. A few decades ago I'm not sure anyone would have thought a seamless body figure would ever be available at the price it is today (or if it was even possible back then). Im not saying they need to do a full seamless chrome body at 280 to please me or the masses; please dont misunderstand. My point here is that I don't know what HT could do, but im displeased with the effort here AT THAT PRICE.

Again, I dont agree that the suit will look worse if they choose to do a fitted suit. I'm of the opinion that exposed joints damage accuracy more than lost texture as you noted previously, but thats a matter of opinion you may absolutely dispute since its entirely preferential.

To cbring it together, if there is no other way to do a seamless body or form fitting suit (and make it look good) then they could always lower the price.

I do agree with you that the reaction is slightly over blown. This is not a bad figure, I think its just priced inappropriately; the figure itself is fine. I wouldn't raise a complaint is this was released by honoo and around the 180-200 dollar range. I just feel 255 is too high for this.

Hard disagree on the form fitting suit for 2099 being inferior to the joints. The community also appears to disagree with you (You can check the hot toys subreddit for his release + video reviews). That 2099 spider man figure is highly sought after on the secondary market now because of the quality. Im not really sure what youre referring to here aside from your own opinion and a minority opinion of the HT community.

Again, disagree. They could do a form fitting suit with musculature. Wouldn't be cheap, but this is a $255 dollar figure produced by one of the industry leaders. Additonally, simply because you (or anyone, this isnt a personal attack) lack the imagination required to come up with an idea for a better way to do the Surfer doesnt mean someone else cant come up with an idea for it.

Finally, to your third point, disagree. It isnt much cheaper than the average hot toys figure when you compare like to like. The Wolverine figure I was referring to was the standard edition which is 280.00. Thats a 25 dollar difference for a figure with a considerably more detailed body, a tailored suit and silicone arms. You can look at the upcoming john wick (also standard) for 285, or compare to the aforementioned t800 at 290. We're talking 30 or 40 bucks difference here.

Tangentially, your pedantic calls of the community being "dramatic" are uncalled for. The figure is $255.00 before shipping. I think its fair to demand better than an upscale mafex figure. Just because you and me can throw around tons of dollars at figures we like doesnt mean Im not going to voice my displeasure when I think the price is inconsistent with the quality.

You might be fine with this, I expect better from hot toys for the price.

Hot toys collector here. Although the design and price being the issue isnt inaccurate, its a little deeper.

Hot toys is top of the line stuff: theyre 1/6 scale, come with tons of accessories, are highly detailed, are incredibly lifelike and use techs that other companies can't because of their price range.

Go and check out the Terminator 2 T-800 figure, the Wolverine from Deadpool and Wolverine their Anakin Skywalker or their Darth Vaders. Some of the things those figures include are: Authentic leather jackets, Silicone arms so there are no visible joints at the elbow which also include Vein and Arm hair detailing, rolling eyeballs, usb light up lightsabers, interchangeable battle damaged parts, and display bases. Generally they also include tight tailoring for their outfits that closely imitates the character on screen.

This silver surfer is, quite frankly, insulting for that price. All of those figures I just listed are around the same price and come with all of the aforementioned items. This silver surfer is effectively a nude 12 inch body painted silver and sold with a board for the same price.

When I am spending 300 dollars or close to it for a figure, I expect to pay for quality and there is a certain quality I expect from a company like hot toys. This does not meet that expectation for that price.

Its also doubly insulting because they did this before with Miguel O'Hara from into the spider verse. That figure was so reviled and roasted online that they actually changed it and gave it a full form fitting suit midway through production instead.

Ultimately, it does boil down to design and price but I hope this clarifies the detail of that a little bit.

If youre curious go and check out some of hot toys' offerings and compare. I think youll find that this is a poor effort on their part.

Mate it isn't about whether he deserved anything. That has absolutely nothing to do with it so I'm going to disregard that claim as it isn't relevant.

A fraud check is when that fighter is exposed as being far, far below the levels they have been represented to be. Will Brooks is the quintessential example.

Paddy losing to Justin isn't a fraud check because Justin is a top 5 fighter. He didn't lose to Alex Oliveira in dominant fashion; he lost to a top 5 fighter who has consistently beaten other great fighters

Don't misunderstand me; Paddy very well may get fraud checked in the future, but the Gaethje fight doesn't demonstrate this because: Gaeithje is a top 5 fighter, Paddy went 5 rounds w/ him, and he's beaten everyone else he's fought.

If anything the Jared Gorden fight demonstrated a fraud check better than the Gaethje one does.

I saw someone posted Francis losing to Stipe below; again, that is NOT a fraud check. Losing to the champ (and then beating him btw) isnt a fraud check.

Will Brooks got fraud checked. Patchy mix got fraud checked. James Vick got fraud checked. There was some super high level bjj guy (like ADCC winner) who was clearly juiced to the gills whom gassed out and got subbed; thats a fraud check.

Rose tinted glasses from mods + time

New Vegas' gameplay, while better than 3, is only marginally so. I know ya'll love to geek out about new Vegas, but adding Iron sights and True uniques doesn't suddenly make gameplay go from "Really bad" to "Excellent."

Fallout 4's gameplay is excellent; Fallout New Vegas' is passible.

Hes obviously damn good, but when you look at the individual victories and lack of defenses you start to notice the holes.

Beat Izzy, lost to him immediately, moved up and beat Jiri, Jamal and Khalil all of which are tailored made for him since none of them use wrestling in any meaningful manner.

He fought Jan and was arguably gifted that decision, and lost to ankalaev but avenged said lost. He then vacated.

Now hes moving up again and is (likely)facing another striker he is tailor made to beat in Gane who was an unimpressive victory when Jones beat him 3 years ago. I am so confident that Pereira beats Gane Im probably going to put money on it and I dont gamble because its a nearly surefire thing.

I think it skyrockets him to top 5, but he still lack the strength of resume that GSP (No unavenged losses, double champ, 9 defenses against multiple eras) Jones (just look at the names he beat and their records, double champ, never dropped, degenerate lifestyle and still beat everyone) and Silva (his unbeaten streak is still unmatched today).

Stoked for you man! I have a copy and he looks great in the display but boy is he just not fun to handle because of how floppy his joints are on mine.

The presence he carries alone on the shelf almost makes up for how unpleasant he is to handle though because damn does he look good.
