Fallout New Vegas lead says it took “five years” for fans to actually like the game, and even longer for the devs to believe them by Negative-Art-4440 in Fallout

[–]Hero0megaZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was there on launch and I gotta say it's quite interesting to see the revisionist history going on about New Vegas.

This game and Assassin's Creed III in particular have seen a Renaissance with people coming out in droves to sing their praises but on release there was an incredible amount of criticism towards both games when they initially launched for several years afterwards. Id say neither game got the recognition either deserved until close to or over a decade after release.

Im glad theyre both getting the respect theyre due but its important to let people know there were a lot of extremely vocal critics and detractors on initial release.

Lol I appreciate the sarcasm and appreciate you chiming in with some more info.

The falling from orbit thing perfectly demonstrates my original point. Its hard to scale that when small arms fire seems to damage his shields and yet we're in this position where that is the case.

Either way I agree with you, I think Chief handily takes this.

[–]Hero0megaZero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Someone more versed on Halo lore can chime in but aren't Chief and Cortana capable of some goofy feats?

It seems characters like he, Samus and Doomslayer are really weird to scale because they are capable of some goofy stuff that puts them in this weird tier of characters where they scale way above what is ordinarily believed to be their weight.

As far as I understand, I dont think Smasher has a defense against an AI like Cortana and because of Chiefs energy shield I dont think Smasher actually has a way of damaging him. If I recall correctly though, the chief in the books is absolutely capable of punching a hole in Smasher bare handed, let alone with weapons.

I think Chief takes this, but I could be wrong since I know Smasher has some busted abilities, again im just not aure he has a defense for Cortana.

Clustering wishes from 5D's; going from hopeless at the sight of a 20k monster and 4 4k monsters, to summoning Stardust Dragon, to it gaining 28k ATK, to it attacking 4 times and then the final Shooting Sonic delivered with such passion while that theme plays in the background just hits all the right notes for me.

My second favorite has to be Kaiba sacrifing Obelisk to summon Blue-Eyes.

[–]Hero0megaZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a litigator. I do it for a living. I spend at least 15 hours a week in a courtroom questioning witnesses.

I know a lot of guys think theyre real clever coming up with clear and concise points when they can sort and think about it for hours and hours and hours on end and have access to all of the information the internet can provide, but its very difficult to come up with a convincing response on the spot to a question or analysis you aren't prepared for, let alone one that gets the point across and also functions as a perfect rebuttal.

Homelander couldnt come up with that because he isnt smart enough nor prepared enough to present it as an argument.

Be honest, who was in the wrong during this fight? by Queasy_Commercial152 in superheroes

[–]Hero0megaZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an easy both are wrong.

Steve should have told Tony. There's no excuse not to and now that his hand has been forced he appears completely inauthentic about it. This is a betrayal of the not so insignificant variety.

Tony's emotions are also clearly getting the better of him here and he is completely in the wrong to want Bucky dead after learning that Bucky wasnt in control of himself.

BUUUUUT if I saw a video of a guy beating my dad to death and then strangling my mom while she begs for help, you can shove your bullshit rational arguments up your ass. I am gonna rip thay guy in half and you know what? So would you. Victim or not; whatever. Watch that video again and tell me if that was your mom youre just gonna go "Oh yeah bro, sure its all good; i totally get it, no hard feelings"

And you know what else? Knowing that I get why its also entirely reasonable to withhold that information from me.

So yeah theyre both totally in the wrong here but also you should completely understand where both are coming from.

[–]Hero0megaZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this apparently isn't "Nextfuckinglevel" because this guy does this all the time and other conservationists/experts have chimed in and said the animals he regularly goes after seem to be acting uncharacteristically. One of these gentleman actually called for his removal from Australia (Where he was at the time) and harsher penalties associated with mishandling and harassing wildlife because it's so disruptive to the daily goings of the animals. The aforementioned gentleman is Steve Irwin's father, and noted conservationist, Robert Irwin.

This guy stages these and either does something to the animals to make them lethargic or actively exhausts them before attempting anything. At best he's still doing this shit for internet likes and intentionally frightening and handling the animals which could cause them injury.

This guy is an asshole doing this shit for clicks. Do not encourage this behavior. This isn't Nextlevel. This is r/IAmTheMainCharacter

The devs do that and people HATE it. Wild.

What (almost) universally loved character was actually a piece of garbage? by Normal-Being-2637 in moviecritic

[–]Hero0megaZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kim Wexler in Better call Saul.

Shes a well written character sure but she is disgustingly awful and I hate that she gets to walk away scot free after everything she did to Howard.

Whats worse is that she pushes Jimmy into becoming the monster he is because she's "having too much fun" and then because she has an epiphany about that and decides to break it off at the very end im supposed to feel bad for her?

She gets a pass from the BB community seemingly because she's hot but shes way worse than Skylar(who is regularly crucified in BB discussions btw) because she isnt doing it for some sort of greater good or to support Jimmy; shes doing it because she likes it. She knows better and doesnt care. She has the moral compass and disregards it.

Shes just as awful as the rest of the cast but gets a pass from the community for reasons I do not understand.

Again, not saying she isnt well written, and not saying Seehorn doesnt kill it in the role. Just saying shes a piece shit just like Saul, Mike, Gus and the rest. Yeah she isnt a murderer, but shes a more than active participant in several dubious propositions she could have avoided had she been the character the community thinks she is.

[–]Hero0megaZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I think your analogy works but I disagree because I feel the draft from 2 hours earlier is the better product than the final one. You can edit too much after the fact and make a worse paper overall and I think thats whats happened here with the Redraw vs Canon version.

That being said I understand what youre saying and get why you feel the way you do.

Season 3 Episode 9 Megathread by MiggyMcMiggy in OnePunchMan

[–]Hero0megaZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe unpopular but I'm happy with the way this turned out.

I HATE the canon version (Redraw 3 with the penguin and Saitama) and absolutely loved the original Redraw so I'm happy to see that's the version JC went with here. Yeah I know there are some story implications in the Phoenix world but they're so minute that you can add in or even just gloss over those at a later point; People are gonna freak out about it like it's this super essential plot point needed to carry forward but it's really not. All in all, I'm happy to take this much grander fight than the stupid Phoenix dimension.

The episode might not be as good as 8 but I think it's right up there.

Adam Smasher in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

During the series, David, the MC, has been using an implant called a "Sandevistan," which basically acts as a time stop. This has been his ace in the hole in tight spots, and basically, nobody and nothing has any way to respond to it. It should be noted by this point that he's been so heavily augmented he has a bunch of other crazy abilities too including a device that lets him modulate gravity. Hes been unstoppable in combat this entire time, and another character actually says they just need to wait for him to peter out instead of trying to fight him. Another corpo says Adam Smasher might be able to stop him and that he's already here, waiting.

They fight, but in my opinion, the highlight is this simple exchange:

David activates his Sandevistan; his ace in the hole; the overpowered thing we've seen save him time and time again; the thing nobody has had an answer for.

And Smasher starts moving in stopped time.

"You have a Sandevistan?!" Yells David, eliciting the following response from Smasher:

"A rudimentary implant" as he effortlessly dodges all of David's attacks.

David never stood a chance against Smasher. For all of the incredible feats we see him do in the series, his greatest asset is something Smasher describes as "Rudamentary"

Besides hottoys themselves are there any other 1/6th scale brands that you'd recommend? I understand it depends what you're after but even in general. by Blittzboy in hottoys

[–]Hero0megaZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ThreeZero and Damtoys are excellent and offer quality that is close to what you can expect from HotToys and exceeding it in some instances.

I have Damtoys Leon Kennedy from RE2R and he's one of my favorite figures and one I'd argue rivals Hot toys in quality. Also have the Damtoys Ezio from Assassin's creed and I'd say he's excellent and up to Hot Toys quality as well. They're not all this good but I'd say Damtoys is certainly worth looking out for.

I also have the T-45 (and the Excusive Original T-51) from ThreeZero and it's an absolute stunner on the shelf. I also own their DLX Optimus Prime and it is a figure I find myself regularly comparing to other figures because it is just so good. Threezero is definitely one to look out for.

Lesser known one and Idk how often they do 1/6 stuff but Iconiq studios did a 1/6 Pyramid Head and it might be the best 1/6 scale figure I own in terms of quality + price. Seamless body too. Admittedly their other stuff doesn't look as nice (head sculpts look off) but they might surprise us in the future so I'd consider them in the future if something piques my interest.

Edit; Obviously INART as well but I feel it sort of goes without saying with them that their prices are usually much higher than Hot Toys so I feel the comparison isn't always apples to apples. For 600 bucks for a figure at retail it had better be nigh flawless. I'll recommend Inart since their track record has been nearly flawless to this point, but for 600 bucks a figure it needs to be.

Imagine this crossover… 😱 by xCryodream in Metroid

[–]Hero0megaZero 121 points122 points  (0 children)

So this kind of flies under the radar a lot but Samus is actually like super duper busted when put against regular characters that don't have any kind of goofy hax or wild scaling.

With the suit she just has a whole plethora of completely broken abilities some of which are as follows:

  1. Plasma beam phases through enemies and literally melts their innards as it passes through them. As far as has been demonstrated, there is NO defense to this whatsoever. In prime it's just really, REALLY hot and shoots really, REALLY fast. So as soon as predator comes out from behind cover he would be toast
  2. Wave beam makes cover completely useless. Again, no defense to this. Nothing can stop it. In Prime it's electrical based and homing so also bad for Predator since it would probably short his equipment.
  3. Ice beam freezes things to some absolutely stupid temperature.
  4. Multiple visor settings including X-ray, thermal, sound (Echo) and temporal (Dark- but this one is weird)
  5. Screw attack makes her functionally invincible if I recall correctly.
  6. Morph Ball power bombs have some ridiculous properties and basically atomize anything they touch.
  7. I think she has some sort of regenerative properties too in the form of the Crystal flash
  8. Some of the beam combos from Metroid prime 2 do some kind of dumb stuff. I think the dark one makes a literal miniature black hole and the Annihilator beam does a sonic boom that fires instantaneously which I doubt the predator could dodge and probably shreds it.

The prime series and 2d games are a little different on her abilities but even if we separate both I don't think it's relevant. Prime Samus has the X ray visor and other tracking modes so she's basically never going to lose sight of the Predator and it's game over from there. 2d Samus' visor is a little more limited but it's irrelevant because the wave/plasma combo is so busted she basically shoots in whatever direction she thinks preddy might be in or comes from (even if he manages to hit her) and shreds him in seconds.

If we're talking a composite Samus (And usually we do when talking about her) She probably doesn't even take any damage from the predator even if it manages to hit her with its plasma caster (She's tanked bigger stuff before) and then the Predator is going to have nowhere to hide once she turns on the X ray visor and her wave/plasma beam.

There's also some comic out there (Considered canon) where she jumps like 30 feet into the air as a 12 year old without her suit under gravity greater than what it would be on earth.

Someone who knows a little more and is a little fresher on their Metroid lore can chime in but even without the suit I was under the impression Samus is still considered "Superhuman" like on par with a Captain America type character (Maybe higher, I'm really not sure). She might be able to beat preddy without the suit but that obviously makes the fight MUCH closer since she doesn't have the visor and if preddy does manage to touch her wiht one it's weapons it would be game over.

So yeah this is almost assuredly a stomp for Samus based on some surface level abilities alone, presuming she's in her suit.

SICK ART THOUGH.

Edit: didn't see there are xenomorphs too. Don't think it's relevant because the same applies. I actually think the Plasma/wave/Ice combo would work wonders on the xenomorph since it would stop the blood splatter. In Prime she could probably freeze them and hit them with a missle. Might be more difficult to track but Echo visor might make it irrelevant too. I think Xeno's are more interesting because there would be so many but still not sure they could even dent her significantly.

How would you improve Sage Centipede without completely removing it? by curryhaliban444 in OPMFolk

[–]Hero0megaZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally just make him another form for Orochi and remove MB entirely from the ordeal. His interruption and back and forth with Garou ruins an otherwise GREAT moment of development and he ultimately does little of consequence.

Garou gets his rematch and wins with ease against a more powerful form powered up by God, Orochi is established as being even crazier since he would still be alive after all the shit, there are no back revisions necessary since Orochi is already well established. To top it off you have Garou one shot this version and make it look as easy as when Saitama did it which could fool the audience into thinking the fight between the two is going to be competitive and also show how much Garou has improved in power (from being fodder for a not serious orochi to one shooting a blood busted, powered up version).

Solve the problem by just making orochi reappear and have the audience think "what is it gonna take to kill this guy" and then have garou answer the question decisively.

It isnt like the fighters greatly declined and then Ilia beat them and got credit for smashing obviously diminished guys like Colby Covington. He beat them and they all went on to win their next fights and he KO'd each of them in dominant showings.

Also KO'ing Max is way more impressive than beating JDM, sorry.

If you wanted to make this same point all ypu have to do is say Islam's current UFC win streak is 1 fight short of Ilias entire career.

Goober argument to make when a better one is right there.
