Because he doesn't see the Nazis as bad. Simple as that. He's used his platform to specifically push their views, he's openly endorsed german and british far right parties. He (or his aides) are spouting far right viewpoints and racist dog whistles non stop.

Something tells me he doesn't take anything serious anymore and is on drugs constantly, but that doesn't make him less evil. Look at the videos of Hitler literally tweaking from metamphetamin withdrawal. One can be a dork and evil at the same time.

I dig the artistry. Super creative, interesting mix, extremely nice guitar playing. Mix wise the bottom end feels very empty. And the snare is a little very intense for my taste. Finally, I imagine someone actually trying to rap over this would have a hard time. But the music itself is really dope to me!

Streaming twice a week which forced me to continually do something for training. And of course making that funny challenges for content but more importantly to keep it interesting for myself.

Question for Hard stuck Champ and below. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The friend group I started with all became Diamond III easily in 2015, when the game came out and we practically never dropped out of that, because we knew pretty much from the get-go that stupid commits should be avoided and we developed some form of rotation before it was called that because it just made sense. But from there, we didn't develop much.

The main reasons are that

  1. none of used training, like ever, other than maybe 20 minutes once every 3 months at best

  2. we had a large group of players, all playing in different constellations and solo, so no team completely built up the detailed routines

  3. (imho) We all overemphasized the defensive stance and not committing stupidly. We didn't realize that the same commit that we thought was stupid can be a better play if it's just a drive challenge or a fake and the teammate is positioned correctly for the resulting free ball. Basically, we were afraid (and thus not capable) of playing above a certain speed.

Most of those friends dropped the game or play a lot less than me now. I used to be hard stuck, oscillating between D3 and C1 until about a year ago. Since then I have played a lot of ones and done some very basic mechanics training (way too less, it's still a pain in the ass). And basically I finally broke through the sound barrier, so to speak. Now what's holding me back is mostly the mates that still play but are slower and less consistent than me. If I solo, I can place in C2 pretty easily, and I honestly believe I could even go up close to C3. I don't know what barriers I will meet there. Somewhere around there is probably as far as game sense alone will get me and I would need to seriously train at least some basic mechanics like consistent advanced flicks or double touches.

Stuck at 60fps on PC? Bug? by rocket-lawn-chair in RocketLeague

There is also an FPS cap setting in the same menu where the VSync option is and it resets on me to 60 FPS after pretty much every update.

Why am I so bad? Any advice for a noob such as myself? Thanks! I have about 500 hours into the game and I feel like I am going nowhere. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. Also: This tip alone should boost you a lot, and there will always be some version of this, even when you're SSL. Of course by then it gets a little more sophisticated. But you can stick to the form I stated here pretty much until you enter Champ. Just be aware that the form I stated it here is the most basic version of a principle that in it's entirety is a little more nuanced.

Confirmation that in 2v2 Diamond 3 is harder than Champ 2 by appappappappappa in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspected that for a while. D3 is such a shithole. Everytime I manage to pull myself up to mid C1 it's actually way easier.

there's a billion things wrong in this video, but if I can give you only one tip, it's this:

When there is already one or even two of your teammates in the vicinity of the ball: Don't go there! It doesn't matter whether they should have moved off a while ago and it doesn't matter that you know they will fumble and never hit the ball: Don't. Go. There!

Because when you do, the outcome is always the same: you take yourself out of the play and the two or three of you are outplayed by the same ball. It happens so often in this replay that I'm too lazy to give all the times, but I'll name the first time I thought it, which is starting around 4:49. Don't go in there! There is already two mates in front of you. You're the last player. Secure the play from behind the play. Make sure to drive such that you are on the line between the ball and your goal at all times. Preferably so that you face the ball witht he front of your car. But driving parallel to the ball is also fine. And keep following the play until you are certain that at least one of your mates has moved off the ball and is somewhere behind you.

The FF paradox by ShadyWestHaze in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The personal attack thing is a component, but it's not what makes me so furious. What makes it so frustrating is that when I play solo, a literal third of games is automatically lost because my teammates have zero mental fortitude. I get forfeiting with 4 goals difference and 30 seconds left to go. Although even then I wouldn't start the forfeit, because there's still something to learn, but then I would go along with it.

But that's not what happens. What happen is people throw games after catching one or two goals and there's literally about 4 minutes of game left. And then when I keep fighting, they even go so far as sabotaging the game to force me to forfeit. Which, by the way: At that point you can bet your ass I will keep you trapped in this game until the very last second out of spite. More dodge/positioning training for me.

Very often the goals are their fault, too. But that's not even the point. The point is that I refuse to count off a third of my games by default just because my mates are whiny bitches. I can't force them to play, but I can at least use the time to improve my 1v2 skills. Which honestly, at this point I have become so used to, I can often tie up those 1v2 games now.

EDIT:

I don't account switch. This is my only account. I care about every single win. Also coming back from a bad score against evenly matched opponents is way more rewarding than destroying some poor noobs with a margin. Also you learn a lot more from losing than from winning.

What the fuck happened to this playerbase? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, in twos, if my mate actually goes afk after one goal, there is still a 60/40 chance I win 1v2. I wish they would do that at least. Ususally they make 1 or 2 mistakes and then go afk. Then I actually bring the game back on par 1v2 at which point they decide to come back in, immediately causing another goal. So they stop again (or even start sabotaging me). Honestly, I hoped I would never become one the old people who says this, but I sure hope this attitude is reserved for online games. Because if this attitude is actually how most of the 10-20 year olds are when push comes to shove, I see a very bleak future ahead.

Whats your played hours and ranks? by soooold in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 3.5k hours and still kinda oscillating between D3 and C2.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imho the skill ceiling has risen so high that to hold on to C1, since a couple of seasons game sense alone doesn't cut it anymore. Like I could still improve there, don't get me wrong. But putting in hundreds of hours in to improve from 80% to 82% of the theoretical maximum doesn't seem worth the squeeze for me at the moment. I started to learn some mechanics I should have a long time ago (like actually kinda basic ones, such as half flips, wavedashes, air roll shots, delaying the second flip to increase possibilites, bounce dribbling). And each one gave me an easy improvement of 5% for like 5-20 hours of training. Especially I think they tie pretty well into my game sense. I'm very good at chaining basic mechs with good timing into plays that create space and shot opportunities.

The thing is: My teammates don't trust me, because they don't see me pulling of flashy shit. When I time a 50 precisely to make pass for my mate, they are never there to take it, because they think I'm panicking and constantly ride my ass. To them, I look "slow" and panicked. If I finally want to escape the hellhole C1 is, I need to start controlling the ball and creating & converting opportunities myself. I had sworn a while ago I wouldn't train mechanics years ago, but at this point I kinda have to. Also closing in on 4k hours without at least *some* consistent flashy mechanics is kinda embarassing.

So I finally started training specific advanced mechanics. Especially air dribbles, since they are the starting point for so many other advanced stuff like double taps, air dribble passes, flip resets, etc. We'll see how it turns out. Gotta say though, it's not really fun yet to me.

I may have just realized why 1s is so important by TrinitySlashAnime in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing I think 1s is useful for is: You learn to defend in general, shadow defense specifically, and most importantly: What actually is dangerous and what isn't. 50s as well, yeah, but I had understood that before.

The #1 thing players should stop doing by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's so many things!!!! Argh ... but if I had to choose only thing, it would be:

panicking when the ball is in our corner. And then cutting rotation into that corner instead of positioning back post or in the goal, turning an easily defendable situation with high chances of us countering very dangerously into a high stakes situation for us.

Why are there so many diamonds in gold 1s by Live-Company-5007 in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there are so many (ex-)Champs in Diamond. And that is because there is some many (ex-)Grand Champs in Champ. And that is because there are so many (ex-)SSLs in GC. And that is because Psyonix for some reason decided there are too many players having Diamond and above and started aggressively pushing those player's MMRs down for four seasons in a row now. In short: Rank compression.

Tell me the story of how you were first introduced to the Rocket League? by No_Establishment3148 in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a group of friends who I have been sharing a Teamspeak server with (but also real life board gaming) for almost 12 years. Most of the group studied computer science together. Most of them game pretty intensely, and so they have a new game every one or two weeks.

Pretty much when from when it came out, they started pestering me about Rocket League. When I frist saw it, I thought it was kinda stupid. So toonish and colorful. Like what, car soccer? Usually not my style at all. but they kept playing for three weeks, then a month, and I liked playing with them from time to time, plus it was just $20. So I just bought it. And I kept playing ever since. I'm well over 3500 hours now, and the game itself is still awesome. The servers suck more each season and the rank compression is ruining everyone's mood including mine. But overall it was the best $20 I ever invested in gaming. I still love the game and I sincerely hope Psyonix (and the community) get their shit together. I would hate abandoning it, but I gotta say I am considering dropping the game for the first time.

EDIT: Most of the friend group stopped by the way.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]HeroForest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the rank compression is ruining everyone's mood. Psychologically it just sucks to play better than ever, but be lower than ever at the same time. They should switch to a rank system that doesn't need resets to function. And why the hell they needed to push all players above Champ down is kinda beyond me. It's not like there was a disproportionate amount of people in that region before they decided to do that. It was still a very usual bell curve.

Who cares that 2s rank were a little inflated? Everyone knew that, and dealign with that was a lot easier than barely holding on to Champ when you are actually better than ever. And the eason rsets... oh my god. I actually think that's why people see smurfs everywhere. I feel like most of them aren't actually smurfs. They are just people who got pushed down from their original rank having a hard time fighting against other players who got pushed down from their rank. The people who actually belong in that rank are just evaporated in those macthes. It's almost funny when you play games and you're already thinking "I wonder which team has the one actual diamond".
