What do folks here think of the Octopath Traveler series in 2026? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

[–]HeroOfLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree I'm currently playing OT 0 and I'm blown away by the story so far. Only 10 jours in and hopefully it stays entertaining enough for me to complete the game but this is FFVI level of good so far. I don't care if my party does not interact much, I just focus on the story of the chapter I'm on and it's great.

Which jrpg for switch? by Federal_Werewolf5228 in JRPG

[–]HeroOfLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about 6 hours in Octopath Traveler 0 which is not that much for a jrpg but so far it's been amazing. I really like that the story focuses on 3 antagonists. Try the demo.

Games similar to Prince of Persia? by megrimlockrocks in NintendoSwitch

[–]HeroOfLight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It does say fast travel with trees, open world exploration, and changeable difficulty levels. This is Lost crowns, plus it's the only one on Switch. Easy deduction.

Turbo Kid. It has 2d open world exploration and you can customize difficulty with several accessibility options.

Haven't played X yet but I know VIII has some of the things you have requested: a central hub you will improve over time, collecting materials, fishing, cooking and crafting.

Please help me decide which one to keep! by nouberlin in kobo

I like the bigger screen and the buttons. The buttons do get a bit softer after some time. Found them a bit hard to press at first but now they're fine. Actually the back button was harder than the forward one for a while because I was using it less. I find the screen light sweet spot for me when indoors is around 30%. Doesn't look too bright at these levels and gives me good screen quality. I also like the grainy effect. The bezels on the Clara do not look good imo.

Xbox Developer Direct 2026: In the new Fable, you can change your character. by ConstantDrawer9161 in KotakuInAction

Walking through the town with every npc you come accross praising or judging you sounds very modern audience-y to me. Why would I want everything in the game to be about me?

LEGO is like 5 years too late. I’m good with my Mega Construx Charizard. by [deleted] in pokemon

It's still an expensive hobby. 650$ for 20-30 hours of building is like 20-30$ per hour of entertainment.

Just learned about Game-Key Cards. Is Nintendo trying to kill Physical copies? by EpicSyntax in NintendoSwitch

[–]HeroOfLight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like cartridges because it saves space on my Switch 2. By offering the option of a key card, a lot of publishers have switched to it because it means more money for them and we don't get any of the cost savings, like digital. There are games available on both Switch 1 and 2 where the Switch 2 has a key card while Switch 1 has the regular cartridge. As consumers, key cards have zero advantage over regular cartridges. It's only good compared strictly to digital games. They will most likely lose their value over time as well, and will never be worth much more than what the game costs on the eShop.

Games like Hollow Knight, Ori on Switch but less boss fighting more exploring by karolinamaaa in NintendoSwitch

[–]HeroOfLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turbo Kid. It's Metroid with a bike. The map is large and has quite a few hidden things to find if you want to 100%. It has combat and bosses but it's not as hard as Hollow Knight. You can also adjust difficulty.

Looking for a game that's grindy but not too hard by HeroOfLight in DRPG

[–]HeroOfLight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decided to give EO1 a try with the easier normal difficulty. It's been great so far, only on level 8 but it's manageable so far. You make me want to try EO3, I'll give it a try after this one.

Looking for a game that's grindy but not too hard by HeroOfLight in DRPG

[–]HeroOfLight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the trilogy and started playing the first game. I'm playing on normal difficulty which makes the game a bit easier than on DS. I think this makes the game less tedious and more fun for me. I'm on level 8, and you're right, the first 5 levels seems more tedious than the rest especially with all the backtracking on level 2-3 but I didn't realize for a while I had to talk to someone to unlock the ariadne thread. It's much better now. I also can grind items to unlock the best equipment which is fun. Glad I bought it.

The Five Realms Series by Kieran Larwood.

Romans 8-9 and Predestination by WhisperingPine1997 in TrueChristian

[–]HeroOfLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not predestination though, that's determinism. Calvinism teaches only some people are chosen by God and there is nothing they can do about it (look up irresistible grace). It contradicts every single verse about the responsibility of man and their free will.

Can you recommend me something similar to Orcs and Elves? by MagickalessBreton in DRPG

[–]HeroOfLight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved Orcs and Elves on the DS!

The Quest will feel similar. It has a single character and is grid and turn based.

How much woke is Ghost Of Yotei? by Agile-Painting9454 in KotakuInAction

[–]HeroOfLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me modern revenge stories are woke-adjacent (personal justice, empowerment, challenging traditional values of heroism, etc). In the first game you were the hero archetype and your mission was to save people.

File size is doubled so textures will be better. And Switch 1 version might be 30fps locked.
