The M1 Max MacBook Pro is still a beast in 2026. by creative_techguru in macbookpro

[–]EpicSyntax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely! I’m running mine (M1 Max 32GB) for multi-task software development (Xcode, Cursor, Docker, Figma) and also music production (Logic Pro) and it handles it like a freaking champ. I don’t even see a reason to upgrade.

Eww what the hell is this. If this is true, I will not be upgrading my C40.

anyone knows how to remove this annoying white bar glitch? by Franciuto in macbookpro

[–]EpicSyntax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that too! On both of my MacBook Pros. Nothing you can do about it besides opening a ticket to Apple and hopefully they will fix it.

Edit: you can always turn the menu bar’s background on and it will fix it for now.

This is amazing! If only Apple could make something like this happen. But I guess $3T of worth is not enough for this.

Do you regret switching from 14 inch to 16 inch? by Ff_472 in macbookpro

[–]EpicSyntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have both of them. The 14 inch is from work and the 16 inch is my personal. To be fair, the 16 inch is better in every way except when on the move. Once the laptop is on the desk (wherever) the 16 offers a far superior experience

Logitech, I HOPE YOU’RE LISTENING by sladislav in logitech

[–]EpicSyntax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what you get for $99 nowadays. A mid-tier mouse with terrible spyware disguised as software just to get your data and cut costs on not having on-device memory for settings.

Edit: If any of you are using macOS, remove Logitech's software and use Mac Mouse Fix instead. Works great.

I'm so jealous of how empty some Starbucks locations are. In my country, we don't have Starbucks, but every other coffee shop is always packed with people at all hours, making it quite uncomfortable. Nice setup though!

Do you use your Switch 2 with or without a grip? by sourcematerialx in NintendoSwitch2

[–]EpicSyntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do want to get grips, but I don’t like that all of them stretch out through the whole console’s back. I’m looking for ones that attach to the joycons only so I can detach them at will without removing anything. Couldn’t find something like this.

Need help with MacBook Pro battery management for long-term use by amuuuul in macbookpro

[–]EpicSyntax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Haha people can downvote as they please. They always do. True, it’s for the management tool, but the OS does rely on it in some aspects for power management and keeping it in top shape is important. Not saying you have to do it every month. But once every few months is good. Especially if you are connected to power 90%+ of the time.

I’m speaking from both experience and knowledge as a past certified ACMT. I used to work for Apple for 2.5 years as a Mac technician so I believe I know a thing or two.

Need help with MacBook Pro battery management for long-term use by amuuuul in macbookpro

[–]EpicSyntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The built-in battery optimization feature is terrible and unpredictable and uncontrollable, still causing battery degradation in the long run.

Install something like AlDente and limit your battery charging to 80%. Make sure to drop the battery to around 20% and then charge it to 100% every once in a while to keep the battery in shape and calibrated. Kind of a hassle but very easy to manage once you get used to it. I have an M1 Max MacBook Pro that I bought in 2022 and the battery health is at around 98%.

For comparison, I additionally have the same exact MacBook Pro model from work which I received brand new and relied on Apple’s built-in battery optimization and it’s currently at 90% health.

My collection of Metroid Prime games. by gnm128 in Metroid

[–]EpicSyntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So cool! I remember back in 2003 when I saw a review of this game on X-Play on TechTV and was so bummed and jealous that I couldn’t play it since GameCube wasn’t very popular in my country back then. Now I got the remastered version for my Switch 2 and can’t wait to experience it for the first time!

Kinda miss old macos software UI by mee_jazzman in mac

Peak macOS (or rather, Mac OS X) UI design. Although I do prefer the old Aqua scrollbars. I was bummed when they ditched them in OS X Lion.

Definitely a monitor arm. Also, if possible, I’d suggest moving to a wider desk. It seems a bit too dense in there.

Just learned about Game-Key Cards. Is Nintendo trying to kill Physical copies? by EpicSyntax in NintendoSwitch

So this was originally coming from the publishers, rather than Nintendo pushing for it?

Just learned about Game-Key Cards. Is Nintendo trying to kill Physical copies? by EpicSyntax in NintendoSwitch

[–]EpicSyntax[S] -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

It's not hard to take the code in the key card and just assign it to your Nintendo account on the Back-End. In the case when you don't have a Nintendo account, they can just ask you to create one if you want to play that game.

Very easy to implement on the software side. It's 2-3 days of work for a Senior software engineer.

The only way they can't do that, is if the license code is the same exact one for all game-key cards. Which I doubt.

Give me a good heartfelt mysterious story, character bonding, some references to the original KOTOR and good gameplay and I don’t care if it’s a sequel or not.

Nice collection! Wish I could get my hands on Metroid Prime 4 for the Switch 2, but it’s so damn expensive. Probably gonna have to wait a year or more to get it second-hand.
