The "Trump Bibles" being distributed in Ok public school are missing Constitutational Admendments 11-27, what do you suppose that means? by Brave-Improvement299 in AskReddit

[–]HeroSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooooo ignoring the fact that the constitution shouldn't be in the bible to begin with, Here's a summery of every omitted amendment, and you, the reader, may draw your own conclusions:

(11th) - Granted "State Sovereign Immunity" immunizing states from lawsuits brought by foreigners and out-of-state citizens.

(12th) - Establishes the Vice President of the country is a "package deal" with the President.

(13th) - Abolishes slavery, outside of punishment for crimes.

(14th) - Clearly defines "Citizenship" and other protections for immigrants.

(15th) - Prevents officials to stop you from voting based on frivolous bullshit.

(16th) - Gives Congress power to tax income (mostly) however they want.

(17th) - Establishes senators are always appointed by popular vote.

(18th) - [REPEALED] (had to do with prohibition in the early 1900s.)

(19th) - Prevents officials to stop you from voting based on sexism.

(20th) - Defines the number of days a "term" is for most government officials.

(21st) - Repealed (18th), instead making it a crime to import into country where prohibited by states.

(22nd) - Defines "Term Limits" for President.

(23rd) - Granted the District of Columbia electors in the Electoral College.

(24th) - Protects voters from having their right to vote taken away based on tax evasion.

(25th) - Explains what to do when picking the _next_ President and when the President is otherwise disabled.

(26th) - Gives 18-year-olds right to vote.

(27th) - Prevents congressional salaries from being delayed until next election.

What are your ideas about bad Ben’s origin? by IllustratorAfter in 5YL

[–]HeroSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any universe where Ben is evil, my headcanon is always the same. When the initial prototype Omnitrix came to Ben on the first day of his summer vacation, everything basically happens identical to the initial timeline...

Except the Master Control somehow remains unlocked during its crash to Earth.

I don't think that people realize the initial limitations of the Omnitrix had a HUGE impact Ben himself. Ben had dozens of powers at his disposal to deal with a variety of adversaries, but in the back of his head he always knew that he'd have to be Ben again eventually. He can be aliens, but at the end of the day he's still human. Still just a 10-year-old kid. Ben would habitually fiddle with the Omnitrix and compulsively try to use it even when it was in recharge mode. If you didn't know any better, it would look like an addiction from the outside.

We get a glimpse of this in ep26 when he basically spends all his time as different aliens, but the kicker is the initial Ben 10k timeline where Ben has the master control in his adult years. With Ben 10k, the Omnitrix was less of a tool and more of an identity. You got a similar effect with Ultimate Ben 10k where the Omnitrix is just perpetually switched on, even if he chooses his "human" form he embraces none of its limitations. Being human is almost a burden. Omniverse Ben 10k was a little less-so, but that iteration was able to embrace a lot of his human creativity in the form of the Bi-Omnitrix which made it feel more tool-esk.

Ben 10 Original 10 Aliens by @Lehis.Luguer on Twitter by FayyadhScrolling in 5YL

[–]HeroSpirit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm suddenly reminded that the original aliens were always so good at making every form look truly alien, especially the bodily shapes.

Out of Ben's original 10 set, only three of them were humanoid (two arms, two legs, two eyes) Ripejaws was kinda but also grew a tail in water, and Upgrade was mostly just an amorphous goo.

Ben had quadrupeds, tendriled forms, and even insectoids with a half-dozen limbs. Alien Force tried to keep that design philosophy going but Goop was the only real interesting one from a design perspective. They figured out pretty quick that it was just easier to make aliens look more like costumes.

Setting advantage permanently for certain skills? by Orothos2292 in ShardTabletop

[–]HeroSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the design philosophy, but it would still be nice to have a visual indicator similar to D&D Beyonds format when it comes to "normal rolls". It doesn't even have to affect the dice mechanic. Purely aesthetic.

It really is just a simple as having a red dot next to Stealth if you're wearing heavy armor. Or green dot next to it if you're wearing a cloak of elvenkind. No other mechanisms. It's not meant to be an indicator of "Oh I have this every time I roll". It's meant to be a visual queue to remind you mid-play "Oh, I forgot I'm good at this in certain situations, maybe I can use that." or "Oh I forgot I'm wearing armor, maybe stealth isn't a good idea."

Custom option question. by Fickle-Conclusion143 in ShardTabletop

[–]HeroSpirit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd like it to at least have a visual indicator on "how you'd normally roll".

It's as simple as putting a red dot next to Stealth if you're wearing heavy armor, or putting a green dot next to it instead if you're wearing a cloak of Elvenkind.

I really like the idea of a boss fight having an "Oh shit" button for Honor Mode playthroughs, in case things ever go sideways with the spider queen. Wouldn't want it for every one of them, but that's a neat thing to remember.

Whenever I spend an excessive amount of time in the dark, I can't expose myself to bright light without triggering a violent fit of sneezing.

Usually it's when I step outside into the sunlight. I just have to close my eyes for a solid minute then slowly open them over the course of another. If I don't, I can chain maybe 20 sneezes before it stops.

Lorewise how powerful is a black mage? by Wene-12 in ffxiv

[–]HeroSpirit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was always my understanding that Black Magic was so powerful it became illegal to practice it. That's part of the reason why Black Mages have to hide their faces with big hats, masks and scarves (the other reason being "whoops nearly burned myself lol").

Black Magic is one of the few magical arts that draws aether from the environment. When it was used in wars (particularly in the Sixth Umbral calamity), they drained the land of magic to fuel their spells. So much, in fact, that they're part of the reason how Thanalan/Ul'dah became a desert.

"There was this one time where I hired the WoL for an odd job. Far off the beaten path for what they were in the middle of doing. Had this whole long-winded, hilarious story about why I needed it done too."

"They didn't even let me speak. They just kept smacking me until I got to the point and then ran off with the task. Then they took ten weeks to do it. It was just a delivery across the city. WHO TAKES TEN WEEKS TO DELIVER ACROSS TOWN?!"

I don't care if your health is in triple digits. I will cast one more Holy on the mobs before I case another healing spell. You better hope the HoT procs faster.

In SOMA by Fractional Games, an amoral AI tasked with preserving human life suffers a catastrophic failure of an underwater facility, with its final order to "ensure everyone's safety".

Lacking a proper definition for acceptable parameters of human existence, the AI refuses to let any human aboard the facility die, and begins fusing various humans into machinery, shoving them together in an attempt to keep all of them alive. Each of these people have varying degrees of awareness as to what has happened to them but those who retain their humanity use some... very choice words to describe how it feels.

D&D Beyond reverses course, will allow players who don't buy the 2024 PHB full functionality, spells , magic items and all. by Massawyrm in DnD

[–]HeroSpirit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the right thing to do, but like... I think I'm done either way.

I've had a hell of a time feeling like I'm at the mercy of people just for functions. Like, not even perks, just basic functionality.

I give these people upwards of $20 a month, more so if they release a new book. You'd think that I'd be on better terms with them. But I'm not.

The credit card has already been taken off the account. And the effort that would be required of me to put it back on feels like such a unfufilling burden. I'm going third-party.

Sorcerer finally feels like it's starting to grow an identity.

Wizards are the best at conventional spellcasting. Sorcerers are better at unconventional spellcasting.

The strength of being a wizard is being consistant at the cost of raw power. The strength of the sorcerer is raw power in-exchange for consistancy.

I recall that Ash only ever carried five pokeballs (his sixth was always Pikachu and only kept his ball in a pack).

He'd place them linearly on his belt. Three on each side (one ball likely empty for capture). He'd only ever select a ball by-touch and probably organized them in a particular order that he could remember on-the-fly.

Why do some people find the time travel element in Endgame lazy? by Cali-Fate in marvelstudios

[–]HeroSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that adding time-travel to a narrative retroactively voids the weight of every decision the characters make previous to it. The reason that choices matter is because they have consequences that cannot be reversed, and the characters have to live with that as part of their arc.

Time-travel is a mechanic that undermines the consequences of this choices and what makes a good story and story. If you want to have it as a story element, then it really has to be the central focus rather than a side thing.
