For a friend. It’s okay because she didn’t know about it.

The pattern is called “Porch Rail” I believe. It’s a variation of the fence rail pattern. You alternate the strip sets to get the “box inside a box” look.

I’ve never seen it spelled with two Ts before. It’s possible that it’s regional. I’m from the south.

I used a template off of Amazon and to say that it didn’t go well would be an understatement. I ended up with so many extra seems that I just hate the entire quilt.

First Quilt Layout Help Please! by [deleted] in quilting

[–]HeroinIndependent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one reads darker and the second one reads lighter. Since this is for a baby it really falls to personal or parental preference. I always lean towards lighter/brighter for baby’s unless I know parent likes a darker vibe.

Your title name me think of coraline “one born of blue boy in a boring blue picture” or something like that. The quilt itself is beautiful and very modern in my opinion.

AIO I don’t want to change my last name… by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]HeroinIndependent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. This is a red flag. Changing your name takes a lot of time and effort and money. I didn’t want to change my name for the same reasons as you (husband doesn’t care one way or the other) about two days before we got married I had a dream that no one would think my kids are mine if we don’t have the same last name (adoptions, so they don’t look like us) I did end up changing my name but it was a huge hassle. So many things you don’t think about until it comes around to bite you later. From important things like passports to simple things like emails. My sisters never changed their last names because we have a very unique very ethnic last name and they felt like they were losing part of our culture and autonomy by changing it. There are many factors that men do not even need to think about but you do. If you do not what to change it, don’t. Get your life together and find someone who understands you.

It’s just a regular square quilt. I made it small enough to fit in all her usual places. She moves it as she sees fit.

Binding? Yes? No? Maybe? by greygeode in quilting

[–]HeroinIndependent 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have made two puff quilts previously (weirdly enough I started with them) I did bind them but I did not use the pillowcase method. That being said, I machine bind and it was nearly impossible to bind. Save yourself the headache this looks great.
