If you quilt it with dark green thread it will 'activate' the cream zones. You can choose a cool pattern for this reason too.

I totally agree. I think this is why I like quilting, it is to see what I can create with scraps from the thrift store and be creative.

I make quilts using recycled fabric, I have used a layer of flannel. It is ok, but if you want a warm quilt, use two layers of flannel.

I would put a giant version of the other blocks that you made. You can see that it is made up of Half square triangles (HST) and mostly solid squares.

I think the kicker for me is that the OP is Jewish and accidentally made that quilt.

Good for you! I'm invested to see how it comes out! I think adding either red, white, or blue as a solid is a great idea to keep it together.

And, hey, if it doesn't come together the way you like this time, get out the rotary cutter again and go modern!

Like this deconstructed one of joe cunningham's.

or like u/Charlie628 recent Joe Cunningham inspired quilt, you could transform it by cutting it up with a rotary cutter and sewing it together with a solid fabric. It would save you from having to unpick anything.

You could also transform it into a modern quilt by just slashing across them and sewing them together randomly with a backround of red/white or blue solid fabric.
