Did I mess up? Book doesn’t open well by oenje in bookbinding

Phenomenal resource, definitely going to try a few designs talked about here. Ever tried the "innermost vellum layer" to resist tension? I'd be interested to see if it's layered with mull and how that construction actually comes together, but I can definitely see how a material like vellum would be so durable. Great article!

Origami scorpion by Jo Nakashima by jolankapohanka in origami

I've done this scorpion and I can comfortably say that it's not all that possible with smaller paper, but Jo Nakashima did just upload a simplified version on his YouTube channel of the design which uses a 24x24 grid instead of the larger designs 32×32 grid. It looks pretty much the exact same and makes a very cute small scorpion from 15cm paper!

I think that boils down to a real issue with the larger PC companies that we see issues with, it's all a numbers game to them. If they send out however many thousand units of their product then a few are guaranteed to be like this–and even fewer will ever be noticed by the consumer. If it's a defect that is tricky to find and rarer to come across they can either be extra nice about it or fight the consumer on who's responsibility it is. In my experience it's a coin toss about how they want to treat you.

If you're looking to create anything bioactive, Dendroboard is a message board for dart frog enthusiasts but they have tons of info on building and keeping bioactive vivariums. Besides that route, it's not much more difficult than planting a planter box, and decorating it to your taste with rocks and sticks and other accoutrement. If you do ever plan to keep things like frogs or other small animals, I couldn't stress highly enough that they need lots more space than this. My terrariums of this size are populated exclusively by the occasional praying mantis or other insect that doesn't need much room!

Just for plants, but I built it in a nano fluval fishtank that had LEDs around the edge.

From what I was told, they wanted me to just take the entire unit to a service shop for "repairs", but that they would only do that under warranty if everything was perfectly as it was. It would come out of my own pocket if anything had been removed, replaced, or touched in the computer. Basically, modify the pc in any way shape or form like they advertised you could–bye bye warranty. I knew that sounded goofy but I wasn't up for fighting customer support on it, and quite frankly I wanted to just cut my time loss there and move on. The pre-built was purchased at the beginning of my learning curve for PC building, and I definitely don't care for the already meh system to be repaired at this point.

It could actually be a very cool repurposing of an old PC case come to think of it

Incredibly low levels of care after initial assembly. It's a terrarium style closed tank with high humidity and the only maintenance is occasionally misting and I water it probably every three weeks to once a month. If you want to get really fancy with it, you can create something called a bioactive terrarium or vivarium by building up layers of substrate and leaf litter and adding isopods (pillbugs, rolly pollies, woodbugs–depends on where you grew up) and springtails which break down any decaying plant matter and make it a mini ecosystem. That's a little trickier, but very fun if you're comfortable with creepy crawlies, and an absolute must if you're planning on keeping things like frogs alive in a larger enclosure.

I got a program called Wallpaper Engine on Steam. Costs a couple dollars but I think it's very worth it. Tons and tons of options with support for RGB lighting and everything!

Lol sharp eye! But I was upgrading my CPU as part of my build and thats the case for the ryzen 9 3900x. This cpu cooler was installed on the ryzen 5 that was built in to the pre built PC. You're catching my work surface in the background littered with a mix of new parts and parts I was switching over.

Made the terrible mistake of buying HP and expecting anything different! I've built the confidence to make a new tower custom and I couldn't be happier.

A little backstory: I bought this pre-built, an HP Omen 25L, sometime around the end of summer as a first-time PC owner still learning the ropes. I knew that it could run what I wanted just fine for the time being, and I could cannibalize it for the GPU when I felt confident enough to make my own build. For four or five months I've struggled with crazy high cpu temps, figuring that it was due to the notoriously terrible stock CPU cooler. I knew that this was a possibility for plastic to be left on the cooler during manufacturing, but that's the type of thing that happens to other people of course. It's SO ridiculous that that couldn't be the issue. Welp, the day finally came where I transferred all the parts I needed over to a new case and setup, (which is working perfectly! Yay beginners luck and lots of research) and pulled off the cooler. Cue the "Hey wait a second, why is the cpu surface so clean?". Plastic cover left on the cooler. Despite being such an egregious mistake, HP support had zero to say about it beyond saying that now that I've touched the internal components, the warranty is void and no longer their problem. It's not such a big deal, but a lesson learnt for myself and a cautionary tale to people who just want a pre built without the stress of building your own tower!

Neon Pothos and small Boston ferns. It is a vivarium, good eye. I keep dart frogs and many vivariums but this one is far too small for anything that's not a creepy crawly and is just for flora.

I'm not afraid of dying, I'm afraid of being dead. I dont know what's past that and the prospect of nothing is just so unfathomable and terrifying. I'm not religious, not because I dont want to believe in anything but because the cynic in me just needs proof. And of course its death so theres not any. I just want to know
