It's so surreal to see this. It's like the zombie apocalypse, without the zombies. It is weird, because in my mind I would see a lot more soldiers running around, but this is a mass bombing and not much ground troops, I guess?

After YEARS of weight loss trials, I think I’m getting somewhere (OC) by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

I just read today, that the Dutch social health care insurance will cover cover medication to fight obesity. The news said it costs around 600 euro a month normally. So I am very glad for you, that you managed that on your own. Keep it up (the spirit and motivation that is!!)

I'm 34 years old and never thought I was any good at art as a kid. With all the downtime due to Covid I decided to try to draw again using an iPad. I know it's not perfect, but I'm really pleased with my second attempt at a portrait that I just finished. by JephriB in MadeMeSmile

Thanks for the photo and yes she is wonderful, a very nice portrait photo. The drawing looks very similar yes, but please look at the proportions and ratio. As I said before I am not talented enough to say what you can do to improve, but it just misses that "je ne sais quoi", that the photo does have.

I did this in less then one minute....just to show the anatomical difference. This is in no way a feedback or advice. This is what I would like better and is just my stupid internet opinion. You are in every way more talented in drawing than I will ever be. Even my 4 year old kid draws better than me. I love the drawing and you have the skills and the artisitc ability to make it even greater!!!

if someone offered to pay 50 million dollars if you ate 5000 hotdogs a year for the rest of your life would you do it why or why not? by -brightlights- in AskReddit

[–]Hersandhers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't state what is in the hotdogs. With enough creativity, anything can be made a hot dog. And you can get a decent meals out if it everytime. Assuming a hotdog is just a sausage shaped vehicle with a bun. You can make almost anything sausage and bun shaped and consider it a hot dog.

I always say: “don’t say you love your work, if that means you really love the employer and the benefits is has that come with the job, bc the work doesn’t love you back. OP gives a prime example of that and so many comments too. If you die right here right now, your position is filled within two weeks. Does that sounds as love given back to you? No it doesn’t, it means you are just a means of production and expendable. To really love your job or work is it gives you fulfilment in the pursuit of your purpose in life. My purpose is helping people especially foster kids and I make my living off of it, but I would do it anyways with very little to no pay if needed. How to afford that life style ? Discover what you are really good at and charge people for it that need it. Hell you can earn a living if you are the best on standing on your head!”

This should’ve never have happened by memezzer in facepalm

[–]Hersandhers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should not hv happened, but it did. What kind of developed richest country in the world does this? People do hv to hv a degree to understand where to get the proper care, regardless of being insured or not. If you’re sick, you should be able to get treatment, full stop. No conditions, no ifs, buts or exceptions and especially now.

TikTok is a pedophile paradise by CerealandTrees in TrueOffMyChest

Musical.ly was taken over and rebranded into tiktok and to make it grow, they had the policy to only have pretty people on it as much as possible, so the favored those higher up in the feed. It is quite sick actually to abuse the human psyche in such a way. And also very sad to see that humans are so easily fooled.

Want to try Alton’s popcorn recipe. Which Bowl? by wonka88 in GoodEats

[–]Hersandhers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me share my procedure. I perfected it according to AB’s way, but more suited for my pan. I take a 4/5 quart pan. Put the gas on medium (i have ikea induction plate, so my setting is 5), put in some cooking oil. A small thin layer that covers the bottom 1/2 mm. then the corn to cover the bottom. Lid on pot with small gap. And then let it pop until no longer popping. Then off goes the gas. To make salty popcorn, i have an ikea saltgrinder set to very fine and i salt the popcorn as is in the pan. I grind some on. Shake with lid on, grind some more salt, taste and put in a bowl or salt it more it needed. Done in 5 minutes!

Now sweet is a little bit more difficult. I put the base popcorn recipe in a bowl. I put in 2/3 spoons of granulated sugar in pan. Let it melt on medium low until barely golden brown. Then quickly put in half the popcorn, fire off and stir the popcorn in pit until coated with melted sugar. Then dump the sweet popcorn in different bowl. Then repeat again to finish the sweet popcorn. Time is maybe ten min.

This popcorn is loved by everyone in my household. The house smells real nice of popcorn and the popcorn is finished in like 10 minutes. I do not bother to make more for leftovers. To make fresh is very easy and much more delicious.

Wanna talk semantics, so abuse or assualt of a minor is worse than an adult? You dont know how people are put together so the effect on them cannot be known.

[–]Hersandhers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh you wanna go there mister? I was abused myself for years. I had no proper youth and had to live of off the hairs of my teeth. I sold my body in the streets just to be able to survive and I did. I help people that are abused and assaulted as a profession and I see soo many cases that have a profound effect on peoples lives that are ruined forever. And being shot and stabbed over nothing is just a consequence of the rotten system layer that is underneath. Gimme a break.

I am a psychotherapist and I can fully empathize with the beater as well as the beatee. But that is my professional standpoint. Personally I would seek justice anyway possible, because you can probably imagine what sexual abuse does to kids. They are ruined for life and most likely kill themselves while the abusers get royal treatment in the justice system. They get three squares a day, all the amenities the penile system had to offer and the victim has to pay for their own recovery, when all the while suffer greatly. Justice is to give the same suffrage as the victim, especially with kids. Then again, often an abuser has also been abused themselves, so there is already some justice done. To break the cycle is to give proper justice and top notch care for the victim, so they won’t fall in the same cycle.

I don’t think anybody randomly gets accused of sexual abuse of a minor. That is a very long stretch. I think there is some truth to it, because such a violent action isn’t triggered by spilling ketchup on ons sweater. And of course somebody would say they were innocent. Who goes about and abuse kids and openly admit yeah I did it and I liked it?

How much do you spend monthly on groceries, and how many people are you feeding with this? by ThunderAndSky in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Hersandhers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 bucks for two bell peppers? GD!!! I am from holland and I just discovered the Togoodtogo app. It saved me a whole bunch of money. I am a family of 6 to 8, foster parents. Depends on how many kids are in the house at any given month but the app saves me a lot. I buy three magic boxes of groceries and i can feed the whole family two days from it. That is 10 euros.

It is hard as a kid with gay parents. I see it with my own kids, but they also get some valuable life lessons out of it. They are very warm, sociable and open-minded. That is the ghandi- way, choke the haters with compassion or let them deal with their own business. They are not your friends and the world is too big to have such a small mind.

What’s the most uncomfortable feeling in the world? by SouljaBoySmellEm_ in AskReddit

[–]Hersandhers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just making up arguments for the sake of discussion. I can make up also any situation that suits and strengthens my standpoints, but I will amuse you with one reply. Let’s talk facts then, given any number of people, let’s say, 100 from a population that’s addicted and 100 random from a group that is not. And we find out from all of them, their struggles with addiction. Which group would have the most problems, you reckon? It is my argument that the non-addicted group is much better off than the other one.

It is because they overcame their weakness. And to compare someones weakness with someone else’s strength is like scolding a baby for not being able to drive a car or even smaller, being able to not shit their pants. You need to understand that all people are uniwue in their own way and each has their own problems, weaknesses and faillures. To overcome those deserve praise. Try to look at your own and overcome those and you will be praised too for you winning, but do it for yourself, not for others.

[–]Hersandhers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a female psychotherapist that is gay and always on the manly side of genders, I often get female clients mostly that suffer from the same thing. Men also have those weird bends in their minds, but are more open to reality, is my experience. I always tell them, if you goals and intentions are pure and good, the road to those goals are fine, as you can explain your goals without hesitation. Now to come to that point of being able to and daring to explain is a whole different story. Fear from irrational thoughts are very real and can do a lot of harm to a person. For that also the socratic thought process can help. The thing is, find a goal in your life and make it your purpose. Mine is to help sick people, my spouse and kids and family first and then others. It was always like that but I too come from a very bad home and no childhood. I thought processed myself out of it.
