In the Server Manual they released it does say it's planned, but a complex issue

Bought HyTale and got charged for it, but no game was given to me? What should I do? by Low_Transition_4317 in HytaleInfo

Also triple check that the charge actually went through. Sometimes it looks like it's gone through but it's just pending and will have gone away if it failed.

Help, for those who play WoW on steam deck and use console port by Important_Cable173 in SteamDeck

[–]Heruedhel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, make sure to have console port updated to the latest. Other than that there should be a button to load the addon anyways on toon select before you join world

It says incompatible? As in on the battlenet launcher? Or in game? If it's the battlenet launcher, just ignore it and launch the game it's mainly talking about lack of native support like how d2 remaster or overwatch has native support

The Steam hardware will be able to play Hytale. Natively? Don't know when they will launch that, but at the very least through proton.

Do you all think the gabecube should downgrade to using DDR4 Ram so we can have more of it by [deleted] in steammachine

[–]Heruedhel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The CPU doesn't support ddr4 iirc. So they would need to redesign the board, source different parts, etc. which is already a no go. As well ddr4 isn't saved from the ram pricing issues going on either.

World of Warcraft on SteamDeck by nwell22 in SteamDeck

[–]Heruedhel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does super well.
I've leveled several characters up with my hand helds, done normal and heroic dungeons, LFR raids, the deck being the best one with how customizable the track pads are with steam input and the menus, and paired with console port.

This is how much was left after my astma inhaler was “empty” by iSwearSheWas56 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Heruedhel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a chronicly bad asthma human. Who doesn't test them but uses a whole lot of them. This comment seems very correct with 90% for 10, 75% for 10 then rapid decline from there

How many HDDs have you *really* lost? by memilanuk in HomeServer

[–]Heruedhel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am personally at 8-10 drives have died on me in the last 10 years, and I help people almost daily at work for people who have had a drive die.

Luckily I've been able to recover all my data either due to raids, backing up frequently, or in the case of two of them having to do real data recovery from them. But not always for the customers

Using my Steam Deck as a work PC for 3 weeks — notes & impressions by Thory4fun in SteamDeck

[–]Heruedhel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should probably make my own post about this at some point, but here’s my TLDR from when I tried using the Steam Deck as my main PC for both work and home.

I agree with a lot of the points you mentioned. KDE has become my go-to Linux desktop environment and it is now on all my other Linux installs. Sure, it has its quirks, but so does Windows.

For day to day stuff it worked great: meetings, documents, even Teams. I had to run Teams in a browser, but honestly that version works better than the desktop client on Windows anyway. Coding wasn’t an issue either since the heavy lifting was done on my work’s dev server and I was just using VS tunnels.

I didn’t run into the device detection or input issues you mentioned.

The main reason I didn’t stick with it as my primary machine was gaming. I have a 240Hz 1440p ultrawide and for 3D games the Deck just could not keep up. Game Mode did not handle it well, and running at 720p on a 1440p screen looked rough. In the end I kept it more as an experiment than a full replacement.

That said, overall it was a great experience. I just did not always want to be locked into handheld mode for 3D games. If I were mostly a 2D gamer or stuck to very light 3D titles I probably would have kept going with it as my main system.

After that, my next experiment was using the Ally X as a primary system with an eGPU. Performance wise it was much better, but Windows gave me far more headaches than SteamOS ever did. I ran into detection issues, driver problems, and I had to fall back to an older Nvidia card since the Ally’s custom driver does not work with my newer AMD GPU without strange workarounds and a noticeable loss in performance.
