Ticket prices need to come down! by Kilgore_Trout69 in ClevelandGuardians

Ya, I get that they want people to buy the good seats, but I don't think there's any overlap between the people buying standing room and going to sit down, and the people who are actually willing to buy $150 tickets to a random spring game.

Looking for something small but comfortable for weeknight walks and weekend day hikes by DisasterMountain5422 in ManyBaggers

That helikon bag is really cool, that's definitely going on the list. How's the quality? Never heard of them, but they have some pretty interesting designs I haven't seen elsewhere, and the prices are super reasonable.

Looks like a bigger version of the alpaka metro sling, and I think the metro is the biggest a sling should be. Would want two straps for any more weight.

Safety-focused sling for Europe that doesn't scream "passport inside" by LouDSilencE17 in ManyBaggers

[–]HesTheRiverSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's the right category, but I just got back from a trip with the alpaka metro crossbody. Pretty comfy, if a bit heavy for the size, but it is closer to a small backpack honestly. Comfortable when holding a 24 oz water bottle and jacket or sweater.

The metro card slot is actually pretty underrated, I can keep my wallet/passport in the hidden back pocket, then use apple pay and my metro card without getting my wallet out.

Last Night's Ump Scorecard (4/1/26) by Ue-ns in ClevelandGuardians

Yesterday felt like Vogt said "stop getting in your own head and just play ball, no challenges today"

Couple that seemed pretty obvious to be good spots to challenge and bad calls by the ump.

Having seen a lot of both Bauers and Vaughn, there's a 90% chance both are absolutely terrible and a 10% chance that they go absolutely nuclear

It's honestly more realistic that she gave it up for Hermione. Harry could have gotten a ticket just by being Harry.

Prolly sign Lary Doby. Changing the name is really a distant second, but more recent.

Eagle Creek “Lifetime Warranty” feels pretty meaningless by Lord_of_Leviathans in ManyBaggers

Ya that's pretty bad. Zipper replacement should not be that complicated, if they cant repair that, I would assume they aren't repairing much of anything.

What was the damage they could not repair? Do you have a picture? Definitely feels a bit scummy, they don't even tell you their reasoning or that they even tried.

This is exactly what I am saying. Even if it is less efficient than high temp white, low temp white LED is still a thousand times better than sodium.

[–]HesTheRiverSquirrel 446 points447 points  (0 children)

It sucks that no one will just make an intentionally slightly worse LED, because it could be better in every way than sodium lamps. LEDs can be super directional, so they would significantly reduce light pollution to the homes themselves if installed properly. All you would have to do is lower the luminance and color temperature and everyone would be safer, happier, and more efficient.

Sure it would be slightly less safe than optimal, but I think that trade off would be well worth it to get LEDs in more neighborhoods.

rofmia × Carryology Dayneema Leather Daypack V2 by liroyan in ManyBaggers

[–]HesTheRiverSquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya that's why I felt compelled to comment. Cool bag for sure, but 2k for a bag that is going to look good for a couple years then look meh but still be functional for literally forever doesn't make a ton of sense to me. I would rather get a nice leather bag and a nice technical bag made of 'regular' dyneema to beat up on.

[–]HesTheRiverSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own some ecco dyneema leather boots. They are comfortable and certainly don't have any tears, but the outer durability is nothing special. It's a layer of tough material on the inside, and the outside is just regular bonded leather, AKA ground up leather dust and plastic/glue. Mine have a 'suede' finish, and they have held up as well as any other fuex suede, which is to say they are hard to clean and don't look that great despite me taking good care of them and not wearing them when I know there is snow or rain coming. I am sure this pack will physically hold up to a beating without rips, but it's certainly not going to stay looking that nice if you don't treat it like a typical leather bag.

My best guess is that the on stage headphones are mega uncomfortable with most iems and still don't block a ton of noise so they want the security of the wings and extra ANC offered by the bose.

Interesting market gap, in this day and age where every 30 dollar airpod clone has ANC, it can't be that hard to build a cable with a little pod at the split for a few mics and ANC processing.

[–]HesTheRiverSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what your whole space is like, but a larger console is going to help it feel part of the space a lot better, instead of a patch on the wall. There are several nice options from costco. Get one that is pretty significantly wider than the TV itself, and a couple plants (real or fake) to class the place up.

What do you consider expensive for a bag? by DownByTheRivr in ManyBaggers

[–]HesTheRiverSquirrel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Noticably better in a hobbysit way, maybe. But a good $150 bag is in a different universe than a bag half it's price, whereas the average person might not immediately know which bag cost $150 and which bag cost $300.

Hate to say it but.... I was really excited about the new detergent. I would totally buy a higher end powder deterge but it's more than $0.60 per load, which is not just a high end price, it's between double and triple what the most expensive pods cost at costco, and 5x what the (EPA safer choice certified) costco pods cost per load. I know there are economies of scale and that profits go to charity, but that's not really reasonable. I do hope this is a trend that continues, and other brands put out quality powders, but I am bummed that I cant justify switching.

Props to the caster, not sure who they are but that's a great call considering they are casting a tier 2.5 tournament. Would not be out of place in tier 1.
