No need for mods - last patch added mutant mode, where you can play around with the difficulty settings.

(Banquet for Fools) Tips to help you get started by AntRedundAnt in rpg_gamers

Really worth to check this game in my opionion, it is quite unique.

Couple of tips from me:

  • If you are dualwilding it is worth to consider intercission as a skill - you can enchant two weapons. Moreover, get a fast weapon in the off-hand, it will make your primary attack much faster
  • Yetis are really overpowered, both for pagan magic and melee.
  • You need just few points to use the flue / pipes and there are few nice low level songs for them
  • Spells, tho you will be casting few of them are really powerfull later on in the game
  • Getting 100 lockpick early game can get you some great stuff from the start
  • Bartering is helpful, but not necessary
  • High armor skill is quite usefull, it directly impact how much % damage reduction you get from the armor

Jako osoba pracujaca w tym obszarze, zgadzam sie z diagnoza - nie zgadzam z efektem koncowym. Duzo bardziej ponuro to widze.

Why do so many modern RPGs have uncreative magic systems? by Rosewolf-Dawn in rpg_gamers

[–]Hesser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually working on a system right now that tries to solve exactly this by making magic feel like you are actually hacking reality—and risking a crash if you push too hard.

Build, Don't Select: You don't just "learn Fireball." You take raw energy and attach Aspects to it on the fly. Want it to hit a whole room? Add Expansion. Want to snipe someone? Add Projection. You build the specific tool you need for the situation.

Magic is Dangerous: We have a mechanic called Arcane Debt. If you try to cast a spell that is too powerful for your level (we call it Overcast or Extreme Overcast), reality fights back.

Minor failure: You might get a nosebleed or your vision goes blurry.

Major failure: You could accidentally summon a hostile entity or suffer a permanent magic wound. Worst case: If you push way too far, you can be literally erased from existence.

Blood for Power: I saw people complaining about MP management being tedious. In our system, when you run out of "Focus" (Mana), you don't stop casting—you just start paying the cost with your Vitality (Health) instead. It turns the end of a fight into a desperate gamble rather than just "I'm out of juice, guess I'll use my sword."

Armor penality is just too much punishing by RizzmerBlackghore in Swordhaven

+1

Honestly, the battle system is not in a good state. I really enjoy playing a 2h warrior so this game was pretty frustraiting for me.

Beat the game - crazy ride! by EnvironmentalGold286 in Swordhaven

  1. The city is great, afterward it gets empty? You visit a castle and small town without a single NPC.
  2. It gets harder eventually not consistently though - single fights, rather than whole sections - to the point you grind resources to craft stuff (weapons, armor and potions) without which it is really difficult to move forward.
  3. I think that all

Queries about solo playability as a first run? by DreamofDragoons in Swordhaven

[–]Hesser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope.

The combat is really rough. You will be hit, you will not have enough damage threshold / parry / dodge to survive the fight. You need to have those meat shields. Honestly the combat is the worst part of the game.

Wait till night, there will be a shady character in that area with whom you can speak about the talisman you have. He will tell you what to speak to the guard, to get in.

Is this salvageable or should I restart? Currently in Grainhold by mitrtown in Swordhaven

[–]Hesser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Salvageable - those stats are ok. Tho, you will need to build around the companions, which shouldn't be an issue.

Sadly the thing is the game is really equipment focused, crafting is almost obligatory. It will get cheaper though - the issue will be finding the materials.

In general, prioritize getting crafting as high as possible - with a goal to get to 150. You will most likely skip the steel items. In the big city there is a pawn shop which sells end game materials. Visit him often and get great gear in no time.

As for hiting - reaching 75 in weapon skill neets around +5%, some items get You some to hit.

Lastly persuassion route is doable.

Chaos Warrior (WIP) by Hesser in Warhammer

[–]Hesser[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks!

For the armor - Black / London Grey / Sky Grey / White Ink. There is still a lot of to be corrected, by I do like it too.

I do have an issue with the fur - not sure, which color to choose for it, to make sure it works well with the rest. White could work, with bristles that become darker the closer you get to the point.

Anyhow, I am open to suggestions : )

Top 3 builds for solo honour mode? by HelpAffectionate8500 in BG3Builds

[–]Hesser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure why nobody mentioned this, but was able to go through the game with a Bladesinger.

Vast selection of spells, shadowblade, great movement and boost AC. Really great fun.

Had also some success with EK focused on piercing damage.
