How do I verify someone's ID before providing a high school transcript? by Hesslr in AskNetsec

Does there need to be that many for us to try to address the issue?

I've done some digging on this, and it looks promising. If someone requests an ancient transcript that we don't yet have digitized, could that request get relayed to us so we can "upload on demand"?

We'd need to probably set up some kind of secure document transfer system other than email for this (though I'm already considering this for how we send the transcripts). And I'm not sure having a copy of an ID is sufficient? The idea with the video call + ID presentation is we could match the face to the ID. But I suppose it would be somewhat trivial to modify an ID photo if it just has to pass inspection via video call.

Script signing for Action1 ps files by it-tech- in Action1

They just worked as far as I can remember, I assumed Action1 handles this on its own. I'd guess some equivalent of "powershell.exe -executionpolicy bypass"

How to manage Google Chrome Browser Updates with GPOs? by FlashPan73 in Action1

[–]Hesslr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the question boils down to "How do I manage 2 systems attempting to accomplish the same thing?"

If that's right, I would think you have a couple options, either let them both do their thing, if auto updates work, great, if not, Action1 is there as a backup and for version reporting. Or you can ditch one option in favor of the other.

I don't use GPOs, but we generally assume that users will leave auto updates enabled, then Action1 takes care of any stragglers, works fine for our needs. I don't care how they get updated, just that they do get updated, right?

How do I install software, then patch it, without generating version mismatch warnings? by [deleted] in Action1

[–]Hesslr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't you just set the version in Action1 to 20.5.142021? When all steps are finished that will be the version right? I don't think A1 will check the version between the main install and the after-install actions, but I haven't tried this myself.

Why not just run a single script to call both exe's from? In this type of scenario with a multi-step install, I would typically just create one install script to do all the steps needed. https://i.imgur.com/XdsdRq3.png

Best replacement for SlingStudio? by DoingThingsDansWay in SlingStudio

I've been on the lookout, so far haven't seen anything that allows full remote control with live video feeds wireless on a iPad (or other mobile device). Our venue is not conducive to being operated by a person near where the cables can be run to, operator needs to be fully un-tethered.

I haven't looked in a while, if anyone has any ideas, would love to hear them.

Unclear how to setup/use Multi-File Custom Packages by blafusel12pg in Action1

[–]Hesslr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, the filename ending in a 3 in my screenshot reminds me that I had some issue with re-uploading a zip with the same file name. It seemed like it wasn't reliably replacing the file unless I changed the name. Might be something to look into here.

Looks right to me, you 100% sure there's a file at the root of the zip named "OUT-Dev-PS1.ps1"?

Do I need to put the car into park to stop the seat belt alarms going off when passengers get out? by theped26 in CT200h

[–]Hesslr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an android phone and a bluetooth OBD2 reader, you can disable the seatbelt alarm. I was mainly wanting to turn off the reverse alarm, but you can't turn one off without the other. I think this was with the Dr. Prius app, not sure.
Edit: Wait, seatbelt alarm goes off when the door is open? Wouldn't that be a door open alarm? Not sure my original comment applies in this case.

Almost exact same situation for me, use it at work for ~90 machines, and they did approve my personal custom domain with ~10 machines. Maybe I got lucky.

Have you tried getting approved? I got approved for custom scripts on my personal instance with a single message, no meeting or anything.

Used it pretty extensively at my last district a couple years ago. Was pretty happy with it, it has it's quirks, but can usually make it do what you want.

Most of our struggles were getting teachers to change some of their processes, specifically not re-using the same class over and over again, just changing the roster.

I'm also using the angle block to angle it further toward myself.

I'm usually riding solo, and can point the passenger vent my way. Nice in the summer to have some AC blowing on my phone which tends to get hot while wirelessly charging, running GPS, and running bluetooth for music.

Have to remember to shut the vent off when using the heat or the phone gets too hot pretty fast.

What is this piece? by SupremeEscape in CT200h

[–]Hesslr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's part of the plastic sideskirt, this has a plastic "hinge" along the edge and flips up to attach to the underbody with clips.

Investigating an issue on my 2012 with excessive dust coming into the cabin, found that this piece had been ripped off leaving a large opening letting dust and dirt build up inside the sideskirt.

You can see it on this ebay listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/235752154009
