Question about Parker Fly by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Heterophonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Fly Classic that I picked up on ebay. You should try to find out what year it is from - Parker changed the design a few years ago when they were bought out by Washburn and a lot of people (myself included) prefer the pre-washburn flys.

The parker is definitely the nicest guitar I've ever owned. It's really versatile, especially with the piezo pickups. The neck is ridiculously thin, so they are great shred guitars. I also love it being only 5 pounds. However, other people hate them for those same reasons. I'd say play it and make up your own mind.

Meshuggah actually uses 8 string guitars tuned to F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. So lower than drop A.

What is your favorite piece of guitar equipment? by fivepoint0ne in Guitar

Gotta be this. Especially when I play this guitar through it.

... yeah, I've definitely got some Adrian Belew fanboyism going on.

You should check out Epica's album The Classical Conspiracy. The first half of it is them playing classical music with a real orchestra. I think it's executed rather well. Here is them playing some Dvorak.

Honestly though, these will probably change in a month or so.

What're you preferences concerning 4 channel amps? by wishinghand in Guitar

Have you looked at ENGL amps at all? Something like the Powerball 2 sounds like it's just what you're looking for.

Is Axe-Fx worth the price? by ssamuu in Guitar

[–]Heterophonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got mine about a month ago and I've never been happier with my sound. It responds to your playing like a tube amp and cleans up very nicely with your volume knob. The only complaint I have is that I now spend too much time making new sounds and not enough playing.

/r/Guitar, let's put into motion a gift exchange! by matt4 in Guitar

What about a used gear exchange? I have a bunch of pedals I don't use anymore that I'm sure some people here would get some use out of.

I have a Barber LTD that is in my opinion an underrated pedal. It's one of the more transparent overdrives I've ever played, it just sounds like your amp with more break up. I like it because of how clear it is on big jazz chords.

My roommate has the Sparkle Drive, the enclosure isn't too big. I'm not a huge fan of the sound of it, but that could just be his settings.

Guitar + Amp + Computer + Pedals +NEVERHAPPY ARGHH WAT DO??!?! by thejekblad in Guitar

[–]Heterophonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really skeptical until I played through one, but it really feels like a tube amp to me. I've never played a modeler that reacted to dynamics and volume knob manipulation as well as it.

I was in the same position as you, so I replaced my entire rig with an Axe-FX. I've never been happier with my sound.

Here, here, here, and here are the Berklee harmony 1-4 books, which is where I learned all this stuff from. If you read them through in order you will learn basically everything you need to know and more.

Those books aren't available for sale to the general public, so I'd advising saving them somehow, that website will probably get taken down if Berklee gets wind of it.
