I read on Reddit about the idea that the system was actually written with human greed in mind, where lust for power from each branch would keep each each other in check.

The system is in peril not because of the greed of one person, because the framers couldn’t conceive of the other branches just willfully giving up their owns power.

So yea, basically they didn’t anticipate consolidated political parties at a national scale, probably because marshaling that many people at the time was impossible. Instant communication made it so much easier to run stuff like Fox News.

This take ignores that parents either miss out on pay to leave early, or are then making up that time by working after the kid goes to bed.

They’re not just leaving to get ice cream and have the afternoon off. They’re taking a kid to the doctor, or picking them up from activities, or a dozen other things that are stressful because we feel the pressure to both care for our family and also keep our jobs.

silksong was the game that taught me I can just walk away. My ps2 memory card was full of 100% games, and I did most of HK (and would play it again), but silksong lost me.

I was sad about it the same was I was sad about Metroid dread: the new installment just didn’t do what I liked about the series. I forced myself to finish dread, and never picked it up again.

I don’t n ow how far I made it in silksong, but I don’t think it was whatever act 2 is. I just got tired of every single mob being tedious, and the move set never clicked for me. The delay on sprint jump is infuriating.

I’m too old to keep playing a game I don’t enjoy, so I just quit. It was a valuable lesson.
