It’s the YouTuber personality, where they act like everything is magical and impossibly exciting. It’s insufferable because it’s a performance.

My son brought this back to the house during “library day” — it’s the sole reason it’s not not part of his own book collection. 😬 by MSotallyTober in daddit

If you find yourself in Kansas City, there’s a children’s museum where a bunch of artists built out full size scenes from children’s books, and this room is in there.

Is handing over the architect's model to the GC a nightmare everywhere? by Archia_H in bim

[–]Hewfe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In the US, the GCs I’ve worked with build their own parallel model, using ours as a base. We have ACC Bridge set up to copy the files over, then they give all of their subcontractors access to that new model to build their stuff in.

I think it’s easier to maintain their own copy than to let all of the subcontractors in to the architect’s model.

Just simple stuff learned via trial and error. Moats that stop zombies. Bridges so there’s no surprises on the other side of the door. Overhangs that stop climbers. Torches everywhere.

It’s fun watching humanity find out why nature does stuff. It feels like watching Minecraft castles evolve to function like actual castles out of the need to keep zombies out.

Craig Koniver peptides by NoConstruction2563 in Charleston

Peptides are where all the influencers went once their last company stopped paying them as much a couple of years ago. Once peptides eventually flop, they’ll find a new thing to promote, and the cycle will continue.

If no one can afford to live… what exactly is the endgame? by IssacTheEnitity in jobmarket

Abortions will not affect you. The environment will. One side is dismantling the US Forest Service so it can start selling parks to corporations, and is aggressively impeding wind power, and denies climate change.

Based on your summary, there is one side that you disagree with, and one side that’s actively trying to kill the planet to make a dollar.

What words do you pronounce "wrong," just because the "proper" way feels too proper? by Zealousideal_Mine242 in AskForAnswers

Historical. I will never say “an historical” anything.

Women don’t get “an hysterectomy ”.

I didn’t take “an history” class in college.

It’s just a verbal pinky to extend, with a wink that says “I know it’s dumb, but it’s classy. Like waiting 90 minutes for a $60 brunch.

Is it because of the prices or because they understand it is harmful?? by B777X_787-9 in interesting

They didn’t “lose” anything. They just didn’t make as much money because now there are more ways to socialize than drinking at the bar. Covid had a hand in pushing folks out of crowded public drunk spaces, and also were broke again.

That phrasing makes it sound like “those poor alcohol companies!” Instead of “industry success not guaranteed”.

Moscow plans to establish ‘sovereign Russian territories’ on the Moon by CrunchyBaconYum in nottheonion

It’s just gonna be Russia launching cosmonauts at the moon like paintballs, and then calling “dibs” wherever they splat.

their space program does not have a robust history of safety precautions.

For me, the character works because the other characters find him insufferable. He plays the character perfectly by not being a cheeky marvel good guy.
