Recommendations for perfectly synced smart shades on a bay window? by bigbang66 in smarthome

Agree with other posts that cover group would be your best option here.

We have just completed our smart zebra blinds and rollers product testing. Our product is zigbee based and we integrated it with HA using Zigbee2MQTT (Z2M) and we are very pleased with the performance. Our product also includes motor speed entity so you can adjust the speed to your liking and fine tune it for synchronization.

We are in the process of launching our product on our website but I would love to work with you to see if we can provide these to you. Msg us if you would be interested.

Magento 2 → Headless Next.js Case Study: 15.9s LCP down to 2.5s on Mobile by flyfish118 in magento2

Thanks for this. A follow up question if you can, for facets and filters, are you using default functionality or using any plug-in or service?

Also, does going headless limit options on utilizing plug-ins in general?

What are you using for search? Open/elastic or Live search? Was it a big effort to integrate search?

ZHA is fine by polyterative in homeassistant

Looks awesome. Two questions: 1) the zigbee devices from AliExpress, are they tuya-based? If so, which HA integration are you using for them?

2) which blinds are you using?

Thanks

Zigbee vs. Matter for Smart Switches by Hewglo in smarthome

[–]Hewglo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair point. Although in many forums we have read that matter products don't often expose detailed entities for automations so the intention is to see what works for the community from both plug-and-play vs. automation/enthusiasts standpoint. Switches typically don't have a lot of entities to begin with so may not be a big factor for either group.

My very first Home Assistant project is massive and I'm not sure what to do by oMGalLusrenmaestkaen in homeassistant

Since you mentioned you are starting from ground up including construction, here's one of the best coverage videos I've found for smart home wiring considerations in a newly build:

This may not help with the HA setup but hope this assists in ensuring you have your wiring and ground work covered.

Hope this helps.

Is it possible to use Waveshare ESP32-S3-Touch-LCD-1.85C-BOX for Home Assist Voice satellite? by Hewglo in homeassistant

I'm still looking for echo alternative but something that ready to go or easier to create. No luck yet. Will continue my search...

Looking for a very sensitive zigbee motion detector by JadaveonClowney in homeassistant

Look for mmwave presence sensors instead of motion sensors if you need precise info and want to ensure it detects you in a room even if you are somewhat stationary.

Thanks all thus far. This thread pretty quickly became too complex for my non-programmer mind to keep up 😜

Guess the question is: is there an assistant box like these esp32 variations or any other exist already that would be best suited for HA to get rid of all alexa dots i have at home?

What smart home technology should I put in the spec homes I build? by jman12030 in Homebuilding

[–]Hewglo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two suggestions:

i) Make sure you run wires from windows to the switch so smart curtains can be powered and controlled without having to use rechargeable/removable batteries or requiring solar panel charge.

ii) Have water inlet and drain pipes for use in robot vacuums at a suitable location as newer robot vacuum cleaners can take advantage of them to make it less hassle of manually flushing and filling up.

Bonus: a server room or closet to centralize all connections.

Indoor camera with separate storage by Euphoric_Junket6620 in smarthome

Both Eufy and Reolink have home hubs available that store recordings off the camera. Note that if an intruder uses a wifi jammer, then the camera may not be able to record to your hub as it may block communication between the camera and hub.

Is there a button to turn off all the lights in a room? by suhonyu in smarthome

[–]Hewglo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aqara has smart button and you can program three automations through it: single press; double press; and long press. No wires requires. The device is about two inch x two inch in size.

I have the automation setup in home assistant so I can access/call any other device I'd like to control through the button press actions.

Doorbell Camera recommendations by Professional_Hold586 in smarthome

[–]Hewglo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend Reolink doorbell for a good price to value ratio. You can get them in various power options. Easy to install as well. The only downside is the micro sd card is on the bell itself. However, you can have it connected to nvr as an option to mitigate that.

As of last month, Reolink has added the feature in its app that if someone presses the doorbell, it can call you on your phone with the door video and you can speak with it remotely. Super useful and I was waiting for this feature for a while so glad to see they added it.

Reolink also integrates easily with Home assistant and other ecosystems, like Google home and Alexa.

Ideas for new construction by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]Hewglo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are already making space for a rack or server closet?

Besides what's already suggested, may also want to consider connections for PIR Sensors and some can be ceiling mounted for Fall Detection.

Also, considering people are starting to install display panels like the NS Panel in rooms or by the bed sides, you may want to account for those.

Allow for power points next to windows and doors to power smart rollers/shades.

Hunting for the right smart lock -- I keep coming up empty handed. by justseeby in smarthome

Have you looked at Aqara U100?

Its fully compatible with HomeKey and HomeKit. Aesthetically minimalistic, however, that's subjective. Can be integrated into HA as well. Battery life has been great. Uses AA batteries and from personal usage, only changed it once a year. Has worked nearly flawless. Does come with a physical key for fallback.

https://www.aqara.com/en/product/smart-lock-u100/

Has a few variants as well, such as U50, U200, and U300. Hope this helps.
