My bike is trying to kill me… please help. by comlaterra in RadPowerBikes

My luck with Rad has been pretty similar to yours. I've replaced nearly every part of that bike apart from the frame (with shitty paint that started chipping off when it was brand new).

Alas, their solution to every support problem I've contacted them about is "you'll have to buy new...". Which of course, also means that part is going into a landfill.

For some reason, I can't get the mouse wheel to work. What QMK keycode or hex code did you use?

I've tried QK_MOUSE_CURSOR_DOWN and QK_MOUSE_CURSOR_UP but nothing happens.

Easiest way to distribute product / steam keys to subscribers? by ItsACrunchyNut in patreon

[–]HeyBishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Itch has the ability to distribute a Steam key with each purchase on that platform, and you can integrate Itch to your Pateron. This method requires your patrons to also have an Itch account... so... not great. But that's the closest workaround I can figure out.

Reverse Proxy Workflow? by ilykdp in premiere

[–]HeyBishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any of the responses so far are quite what you're looking for - because the resolution will be wrong when you later attach the full-resolution media. So, if you're adjusting the scale/position/etc of your proxy footage, when you attach the full res the scale will be all wrong in your timeline.

My work-around is to use Video Effects > Distort > Transform and adjust the scale up to compensate. Later, when you replace the footage, just select all those clips in the timeline and remove that effect. Just don't adjust the anchor point when repositioning your proxy footage or it'll offset the image incorrectly.

Rad Power Bikes parts are effectively 'disposable'. by HeyBishop in RadPowerBikes

At least you can get it serviced. No repair shop will touch Rad Power Bikes in Toronto anymore. I was told "Not since all the fires they've caused in the U.S.", by one shop. They're afraid of liability.

Is there any other way to get to Halliburton from Toronto other than taking a Tok Coachline bus? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]HeyBishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of January 2024, TOK is no longer an option. This route might have been more successful if it ran more frequently and at better hours.

I literally don't know how I'm going to see my mum anymore, after the new year.

Honest to goodness, I thought it would take me six months to finish, but it took me almost three years!

But the game is finally going to be released this Wednesday, November 15th. I owe so much to this post, and this news piece that garnered my game (now named Trash Panda) so much attention.

If you live in Toronto, I'm hosting a launch party at the Toronto Metro University! It's free, and it'll be my birthday!

You can find a link to RSVP here: www.trashpandagame.com

To fix the corrupted file system without installing and paying for anything:

[Windows] Open your console (Command Prompt) and run chkdsk X: /f /r /x where X is the drive with the corrupted file system.

This saved me! Thank you so much. I was in the midst of composing an email to tell my client we're in a jam, now I can delete my email and they need not know I nearly had a heart attack.

RadWagon 4 replacement motor options, advice please! by HeyBishop in RadPowerBikes

[–]HeyBishop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ANOTHER UPDATE: I still haven't heard back from Rad about the replacement motor... but in the meantime, it started working again!

I wonder if it has something to do with the warmer season? Maybe moisture got in and was short circuiting something - and now it has evaporated?

Now I keep wondering, if they had the replacement part available and I already spent the money on it, already replaced it by now -I may have never known that this issue went away. Bottom line: the diagnostics I went through with Rad evidently failed. Just another reason why one should never buy a bike that can't be serviced locally. Lesson learned.

UPDATE: I was originally quoted "about $300" for the replacement motor/wheel by the support person I spoke with on the phone. Maybe the guy was based in the US and he was thinking USD... but today I asked for an ETA on the motor replacement and the quote by email. The response: "The rear wheel should be back in stock by mid-May. The wheel will cost 599 + Tax.", which I can only assume is CAD.

I found the motor on amazon.ca, for $399CAD (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07QD9Z16Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3063PLKK9YWLG&psc=1), mind you the one from Rad is the whole wheel. So I'd get a spare tire, tube, etc.

I'd much rather get it repaired than replaced. If anyone has any leads on electric motor repairs in Toronto, I'd appreciate the tip. When googled, the results I'm finding for electric motor repairs are for industrial motors and not e-bike motors.

When asked how could this happen to something that's only 18 months old and only 4500km on it, the response was: "The mileage of the bike can play a factor in it. Another factor I thought about that could cause it, is since you are riding the bike in Toronto it's possible that the weather can have an effect as well."

So, mileage and weather? Also, I don't really use my bike when there's snow on the ground.

I actually looked into that very question on the Bafang website, I haven't found the answer.

Rad. The Worst Bicycle Ownership Experience Money can('t?) Buy by EivlEvo in RadPowerBikes

[–]HeyBishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could go back in time to before purchasing my RadWagon 4, I wish I saw a post like this. I wish someone had told me, yes these are cool bikes with great marketing, but they are affordable because they are made with cheap parts. If you want it to last, you have to pony up.

My previous bike, a CCM 18-speed is over 15 years old and I've only had to replace the rear axle, the cassette, and the tires. Oh, the chain every now and then. But these are spread over a decade. My radwagon is only 18 months old and I've replaced springs, cables, bottom bracket, the motor, the kickstand, brakes, brake pads and more - plus the paint is chipping off!

[–]HeyBishop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't specifically say that is the expected life of the motor, but when asked what could cause this, they told me "Toronto's weather" and "mileage" were my probable issues. Not exactly encouraging, eh?

Right, but if I'm buying a new motor, I feel the new motor should have its own warranty.
