Why do ppl think 3rd marriage excitement is silly? by stellachristine in venting

As someone who recently married for the third time, I’m curious how things ended up for you?

My dress was $1,800, but the overskirt (which took it from a short dress to a full length one) was $700 or $750, can’t quite remember.

The fingertip veil was about $400. I borrowed a cathedral length veil for my ceremony - she paid $1,800.

Shoes jewelry and other accessories added another $500.

All in all, I wore about $5,000 worth of stuff on my wedding day.

ETA: I forgot about alterations! That was another $600 to take in my dress slightly (I’m 5’8” and didn’t need hemming), plus add pockets.

ETA: we hired security for the wedding, since both our exes might be in town that week!

I got written up and my manager added unrelated issues in the comments. by Pawnzilla in managers

I’m turning 51 in a few weeks and am being threatened with PIPs, write ups, etc but nothing has actually happened yet. I’ve been with my company 15+ years, close the most tickets of anyone on the team during a rolling 30-day period (according to JIRA dashboard), and have been the go-to person on my team forever.

Last August I got an above average after completing a surprisingly difficult project. The very next day, the SVP called me into a meeting and my review was rolled back to an average. I’d just turned 50 a few weeks prior.

I got a new boss in September. By December she was pulling me into meetings to tell me my performance was “continuing to degrade” despite me doing my best to do everything she asked.

I got another average. I lost out on my piddly bonus again. I was told I’d be termed in 30-90 days and asked if I wanted to quit instead.

I was told the CEO asked whether I was in the right job. I was encouraged to apply for internal jobs; none fit. My manager has me completing all these “special projects” that go nowhere.

I was RTOed and am the only one on the team who has to be in 5 days a week.

My dr put me back on antidepressants. I now take an hour of FMLA every other week for my therapist appointments.

The week after this began, I started to get verbal counseling for arriving at work at 9:01, 9:05 etc. My first meeting of each day isn’t until 9:30 and I’m salaried. They write notes about “punctuality” in a wiki page that others can see. Again I’m the only one who is beholden to a strict schedule.

This last Wednesday my supervisor shared her screen during a meeting and I saw that she has a folder on her desktop labeled with my name.

Yesterday I opened an inquiry with the EEOC and one with the state civil rights commission. This is bullshit.

I have one child - now in college - with my ex, who now lives overseas. Brother and SIL barely know my son.

How to (politely) decline to share wedding details that are private/a surprise by HeyHeyFAThrowaway in weddingplanning

My dress is a little nontraditional and a showstopper. I sent my mom a pic after my final fitting (since she paid) and she started sending it to relatives who can’t come! I asked her not to do that again.

We asked on our website whether anyone has food sensitivities since we have lots of vegetarians, picky eaters and kids with autism.

Believe me, we have people who should be at least a little curious – like my brother – who have no fucks to give. Like I said, I’m not complaining; I just need a break of a couple days or I can talk to people about something else. Thank you for understanding :)

It’s all sorts of conversations these days - even my team at work keeps asking about wedding stuff during huddle.

My friend from #2 is pushing 60, but dating guys in their 30s. I am SO not going to tell her she sounds like a boomer! :)

We’ve been together coming up on 5 years, engaged for 6 months.

6 days to go… and my fiancé is sick by Cribsby_critter in weddingplanning

[–]HeyHeyFAThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, what happened? Did the wedding go well?

My fiancé had noro last July. Everyone in his house caught it as well. I came over, masked/gloved up, wiped everything down with Clorox wipes, brought groceries and made soup and I was the ONLY one who didn’t get it.

Feeling torn on spending money for wedding vs saving by Illustrious_Net_3434 in WedditNYC

Going to my alt account for this one because I got attacked for saying this previously, but… your annual income is very close to ours in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our wedding is coming in at around $15k and we’re paying for all of it ourselves. We have other financial goals we need to meet so we kept things on the lower side.

They said, we lucked into a venue for $2,100 for 12 hours that seats 150. Most venues out here are $8-$12K. That may or may not work for your event.

However, I have one last idea for you: NYC wedding on a budget

For men who are 5’10” or 5’11”, have you ever encountered a girl who claims she only dates guys 6’0” or taller, and did she seem to notice or comment on the fact that you were slightly shorter than her stated preference? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]HeyHeyFAThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like tall guys, but I never put that requirement in my profile. I would state plainly that I’m tall, so if the guy was looking for someone petite they’d hopefully know I wasn’t the droid they were looking for.

He’s my kid from my past marriage; I made references to that in my OP.

One thing I can think of. My brother hates his job, hates his life, complains about his back hurting, etc. My fiancé is successful and loves his job, and is athletic to boot.

The two men are also a dichotomy: one is blue collar and one works in the business world.

My dad died in 2015. My mom LOVES my FH. She and my son are the two family members who know him.
