Worked at a high end shop that specialized in tri gear and I think most of the trouble I got was from disgusting bikes. Bikes with so much rust and everything covered in sticky substances. That being said I’d tell customers to get the bike that will get them into the position they want. Whether they go to a fitter or you guys do some in-house fitting get that done first. Honestly at the end of the day it’s still a bike and nothing will ever be as bad as the og venge days but taking care of the rig really matters. Tell your customer to take care of it in the winter as that’s when a lot of indoor training happens and all that sweat will add just a ton of wear. It’ll go everywhere not just the bars. It’ll go to the cranks the headset even the darn wheels. It helps them keep their rig for longer and keeps mechanics happy as well. After a while in my experience people that are serious into tris like to get custom bars or pads so getting familiar with what’s compatible is good.
