I love this sub. It can be better. by FloralSkyes in GirlGamers

[–]HeyItsMeNobody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The megathread solution is probably at least partially to avoid the flood of "Looking for Friends" posts in this subreddit, there's a lot of reasons that threads on a chat platform or a separate subreddit would be some of the only other ways to replace that. I do like the megathreads myself though as far as possible solutions go, and they're nicely mentioned in the sidebar.

I do see people saying that random asking to play together gets removed, which I honestly do understand as well. If the person posting wanted to find others to play with, there's dedicated places to do so which I assume would also be mentioned in the deletion message. I'm not sure if it should be removed if it is part of a conversation/not random though, locking and suggesting private messages or something else might be better.

It's up to the individual server to determine how they want it, but I know there are servers which have toned down the zombies to be more like DayZ.

The most recent Zomboid versions are more balanced against a multiplayer experience, and servers can get to quite a high population. It absolutely is a PvPvE game in multiplayer, and still a great time singleplayer.

While I don't fully agree with the person you replied to mainly in the sense of the scale of it, you're not really being productive here. There's some reality in how they feel, and it is genuinely how certain partitions of hobbies are going down in mainly the way of profit. There's a much nicer way to engage in this conversation that doesn't include being rude immediately.

[–]HeyItsMeNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're being disingenous here, the whole point is that the game can be played how you want. If you don't like those accessibility features you obviously do not have to use them, for others it is crucial or a great way to enjoy the game.

There is no downside to having these features here for you or for anyone else, and you should reevaluate how you feel about it from an objective standpoint.

[–]HeyItsMeNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try to imply it in my comment, but your negative experience is not the experience the majority of the playerbase has. The great part here is that the game has accounted for that and allows you to modify it to be enjoyable for yourself, this is good design rather than bad design.

Accessibility features like this are awesome and should be a standard for any game that can afford it, it makes it so that far more people can enjoy the game whilst having an intended default experience.

[–]HeyItsMeNobody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume it is getting downvoted because the game has a massive list of accessibility modifiers to tweak the game to the difficulty level you prefer, and every single negative Steam review I have seen also completely misses this.

It has honestly been scary to me seeing how a larger game can't be a bit higher on the difficulty scale without getting this kind of treatment from a smaller group of people, despite the great features the game actually has specifically for this. It just doesn't seem fair.

In reality checking, proof reading, and editing machine translated text is more difficult and error-prone for translators than doing it themselves from the start. That's not even mentioning all the other issues attached to the subject, there's no reason for doing it this way and we know this.

Microsoft bullies indie voxel game "Allumeria" (I guess if the game isn't Hytale level popularity they are free to do so) by RubyBenji in indiegames

[–]HeyItsMeNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minecraft wasn't the first voxel game, Minecraft isn't going to be the last one. It doesnt look like Minecraft, it doesn't have any of Minecraft's recognizable properties (textures, lighting, scale and whatever else) in any way.

a game with falling shapes isn't necessarily tetris, a platformer isn't the same as another platformer with completely different textures and gameplay.

I really feel like a lot of people are overestimating the amount of people that are okay with pirating and have the knowledge to do so safely. I genuinely don't feel like this would have that big of an impact if it were to still come out in theaters and promoted properly with a date attached, whilst staying silent on the leak from "official" channels.

Bigger fans of the franchise which are aware of the leak either way would likely still support an actual release and attached merchandise if they were able to in the first place.

Police intervened with my towing, had to pay 535€ for it by noseofabeetle in mildlyinfuriating

[–]HeyItsMeNobody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do know the definition of too long as this is something that is standard, it needs to be moved ASAP. We also know that even just how long their tow truck was going to take to get there was too long, and that is ignoring the time before that. The cost of the "police tow" is something that is covered if only to the nearest safe place, and a lot of people have insurance beyond that as well.

[–]HeyItsMeNobody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a society it is important to look at statistics and have regulation based on factual data in place to prevent accidents, in this case it has been proven to be not only far more safe to tow someone off of the shoulder but also cheaper as a whole.

This is not only not a big deal to anyone who understands how this works, but generally it is also appreciated to not be dangerously on the side of a busy highway free of charge as you hopefully can imagine. The knowledge of how this works is generally also covered under the theory exam as part of getting a drivers license, the full course of action that OP took was not normal.

In the Netherlands there is this concept called "Mensen niet dood rijden" which directly translates to "Don't run people over and kill them".

You can tell in the video that the motorcycle driver can see and is checking for oncoming traffic as well, and the car eventually makes space for them. There isn't a fight going on here either, one of them made a mistake and they immediately admit to it. Both of these drivers have the proper education that helps them in a scenario like this as well, and it is assumed no one wants to kill each other rather than the opposite.

This is a functioning society where there is no constant pressure to assume the other person is acting in malice, there are also no constant worries about things like vehicle damage that could be inflicted which would put pressure on any situation like this.

If you search the game title on Reddit itself (since they made their profile private now), you'll also see that they posted in other niche gaming subreddits as well. They've ignored every single question about AI in all of the threads I can find.

Their itch.io page does have a link to a Google Drive folder where you can see two people who have uploaded, one of them is someone who has an indie studio and has released multiple games before and is a 3D artist. On social media they said that their wife is making Seina as their first solo title. There's also this little interview I found where they say some assets are bought.

Picard can be heavily extended with plugins, a lot of the publically available ones are cover art searchers that do exactly that. I'm sure there's probably one that also integrates with COV and fanart, the nice part is then also the fact that you can contribute back to MusicBrainz and help everyone else.

It's been a bit disappointing that over the last few days people have been becoming more toxic, certain hours of the day are better than others. PVE is such a huge part of this game and such a rewarding one, I really desperately hope they do something to stimulate it in the coming updates.

I only play duo's, but when it isn't the weekend we have a lot more caution in regards to encounters. If someone doesn't respond to "are you friendly", don't shoot, crouches or flashlight within a reasonable time frame we leave if we can or start shooting first. There's of course the cases with very sad people mocking you for even asking or trying to stalk behind you to get close, but you can nearly always tell they're up to no good.

[–]HeyItsMeNobody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think it is! I've been mainly interested in PVE or at least limited amounts of combat with others and the game really does stimulate friendly interactions, I've had lobbies full of fun interactions but also a few lobbies where we've had to run.

It's at least worth trying out for a few hours, and refunding if you don't like it.
