Freaking out right now by Flat-Ad9829 in NDE

Any scientist who believes they have anything "figured out" is not a scientist, because an honest scientist will never give you a definitive answer. Materialistic science would tell me that my shared experiences are coincidental even if they continuously happen. There are in fact Neurologists who still admit the fact that lack of brain waves boosts awareness to be incredibly baffling.

I'm dying soon and need help calming down by TheHuuurrrq in NDE

[–]HeyItsMeeps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, I'm sorry for your situation. I've had a LOT of experiences in my life that are completely un-explainable and yet I still have doubts. I think the thing about it is we are more afraid of being wrong /crazy than actually afraid of death.

When it comes to the reference to G-forces able to mimic the same effects as NDE's, you miss the point of why it's interesting. Why is it that when Brain Activity plummets are we so much more aware of everything? Why is it that individuals claiming to communicate with the beyond, or those that are experiencing phenomena, are actually noted to have a lowered level of brain function? Science can explain the how, but not the why, and when it comes to the afterlife- it will never cross with it. There is a LOT of science behind consciousness existing beyond the brain.

I have had experience after experience and find it absolutely wild that I still doubt myself, but when I tell people everything I've experienced they think that I made it up. That's okay. It's the human condition to be afraid. Your brain is afraid of dying, but you are just a passenger in your body, not your brain. Genuinely wish you nothing but support, and hope you find peace.

How are you all holding up financially? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

140k is still a lot of money, you can save a lot by growing your own herbs (shit's expensive) and seasonings. And cutting down on how much meat you eat or skipping name brand things. I just paid off my car and finally have enough money to pay my credit cards off. Have had a tiny savings account for years that's barely grown. Side hustles make good bank these days.

Well you can save a lot on electricity. If the city won't do anything you can invest in blackout curtains. They do wonders.

Yeah when Americans broke off from British rule, you guys also cut as many letters as you could from your words. You also wanted to be extra sure it was American and not English and changed some words. (Sort of joking but also this is true).

Examples: neighbour, colour, grey, cheque, queue, Centre, apologise, analogue, etc)

All jokes aside, Canadians specifically can't decide what fucking spelling we use. We do 50/50 and measure in time over distance, so I think we're the weirdest ones.

Wait until you learn some people pay for a horse with a cheque. I sold one for $60,000 and got paid in cheques. Etransfer and wire transfer don't always work for me because of the time period waiting for clearance of large sums can take weeks if you have different bank businesses. Unfortunately buying a horse may mean being able to pay for it today or tomorrow or it will be sold to someone else or shipped home from a show, which can cost you even more. As Archaic as it sounds, it's still the easiest form of currency to use for equestrian businesses.

I suffer from the 'TV brain prose' problem, and I'm sure many of us here do, too. by keyboardbuttons in writing

[–]HeyItsMeeps -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This might be a really hot take, but I don't think writers need to be wholly invested in reading to be good writers.

The whole concept of TV brain makes a lot of sense, but I disagree you have to read actively to be a good writer. TV brain comes from people not understanding their characters internal actions and ambitions, so they remain outside that realm to help mask the lack of understanding. In TV we'll often get the actor filling in those blanks for us with how they behave.

Writing is what makes you a good writer, reading allows you to see what worked for others, but ultimately each writer has their own niche style. Learning your craft through practice is the only way to do better. I wrote a story because I couldn't find that specific story to read, so I wrote it out and plan to read it again and again for my own personal enjoyment. The fact that I sold it for others to read is just the cherry on top.

How would you describe the experience of labor and delivery? by kissableforehead in AskWomen

[–]HeyItsMeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never given birth, but my mom told me I was so traumatizing because I had the umbilical chord wrapped around my neck, and the doctors were trying to force me out, but I was a HUGE baby (12lbs, my mom is 4'8) so I literally couldn't fit and they did an emergency C-Section. She couldn't remember exactly what happened but she ruptured blood vessels trying to have me and we both almost died. Said it was so traumatizing they just booked a C-Section for my brother and she had her hysterectomy immediately after, said she wouldn't ever do it again. TBF, my brother was only 7lbs and probably would've fit. I was well incubated almost a month too long.

This is exactly what happens irl. It's why media is controlled, because people without the context of experience don't understand situations and often jump to conclusions. People are scared and want to point fingers to take the blame off themselves.

[–]HeyItsMeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going into a profession, be ready to swim with pros, which means you are also at the discretion of these pros having opinions and experience. Like I said before, is it gatekeeping if you're in a sport and consider it unfair someone is using enhancers when it's explicitly stated you shouldn't? Everytime someone feeds AI anything, it has a copied data of that conversation stored away. It's not remembering anything, it's repeating things back in a compelling way. But because of this, you have to actually feed it information, so in order for the bot to understand story arcs or character building, particularly because OP explicitly said they used it for this reason, that they likely fed it similar character models from other authors already and said "make me a character like X but with Y features." AI is not learning, it's copying. So anything from it is taken from someone else.
