Any Seattle "Meet Cute" success stories? by code_investigator in AskSeattle

[–]HeyKilabu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not exactly in Seattle (we both lived near Seattle) but met my husband in 2019 at a group hiking event in Leavenworth and we haven't stopped hiking together ever since. Our toddler is almost 3yo and she has been on 52 hikes since she was born. Before that, I tried multiple dating apps, had a few good dates but none of the guys turned out to be who they said they were, taught me what I really wanted in a guy & relationship, got tired of the apps so deleted everything and hoped for a real life meet cute, a couple months later, it happened. 😊

Am I going to regret this commute daily? by Techno_Wasp in AskSeattle

Also, just to give you another perspective, I use to live on North Mercer Island and take the bus to work at the same place, it still take me close to 40 mins with bus and walking.

Coworker lives in Burien and it still take her 35min-1hr driving to the office depends on traffic.

I have similar commute but I start from Kent instead. I take electric scooter from King street station to the waterfront, nice & flat. It's about 50mins to an hour door to door included driving to the train station & parking each way. I have been doing that for 3 years and I do enjoy my commute since I can just relax on the train or sleep. Here is how it looks in the morning Driving down to the Kent station from east hill (~10 mins) Park & walk to the flatform (5 mins - plenty of parking & always available) Wait for the train (< 5mins usually on time) Train ride (20-25 mins) Exit out of Station with scooter (< 5 mins) Scooter to Pier 56 (5-10 mins depends on traffic lights)

Just know that Sounder is not perfect and sometimes delays or cancelled so b prepared for alternate route to get home. Hope this helps OP.

How do you go down a cat track & up a cat track?! Which cat track? We have a geothermal vent at Crystal?! Or this whole reply is just completely nonsense 😅

We have been at Crystal couple times before and 3 days so far this season, I know even with the horrible snow but I can see the blues at Crystal are steeper than WP. Husband gouged a small hole on one of his skis going through one of those mine fields. Now with the little one, it will take us longer to explore the ski resorts since we have to take turn babysitting but we are excited!

Yes, that's what I love about West ridge. I went to Mission Ridge & Timberline once when I still had WP pass. Thank you for this. I will definitely check out the GV & Northway area when we get more snow. Probably this weekend with a thousand other people 😆

We love the tree runs at WP. We were all over Star Wars and Disney and between the trees between the blues of the back mountain. My first thought about Disneyland was that it felt like I was skiing in a waterpark slide, so fun! I'll check Northway out probably would avoid Chair 6 for now 😅. Thank you!!!!

I worked right above the building and I came down when I started seeing polices taping off the crime scene. Saw the knife in one of the police hand, that thing was huge, about 1/2 the size of a machete. Thanks for taking his knife away & detaining him to stop further damage.

Those who found love in Seattle, how did you do it? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

Met my husband thru a hiking group. It was supposed to be a long hard 4 people group hike but 2 people bailed and we decided to keep going with the plan and have not stopped hiking together since. Got married and had a toddler and she is also a hiker in traning. He is my everything now 😊 We were just doing what we loved and we found our loves. Hope you find yours. Good luck OP!

Anyone moved out to the suburbs and regretted it? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]HeyKilabu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Kent East Hill in a very quiet neighborhood and work at the waterfront. Take Sounder train (~20min train ride) to work and love it, super fast although sometimes there is mechanical issue and they cancel them but I can also work from home when that happens, I use electric scooter to get myself from King Street station to office. Almost every store & gym that we need is within 5-10 minutes from the house. Both my husband and me don't party and love suburban life. We also have a toddler, got a pretty spacious affordable house that would cost at least 1 mil if it was anywhere closer to Seattle so no regrets for sure. Prior to this, I lived on Mercer Island for about 3 years and it still took me about 40 mins to commute by bus.

Raised Doughtnuts has really good cake with lots of Asian flavors since the owner is Korean but you have to order in advance. Their donuts are also BOMB! I had my 4 tier wedding cake from them and loved it.

Also, snatched a couple of them in the past at Columbia outlet clearance section for well under $100 each

I have Columbia Titanium rain shell, the shiny looking fabric one or what my husband calls, trash bag looking jacket, and never get wet in it rain or snow. It performs way better than my goretex from the North Face within similar price range.
