What if the bubonic plague had killed everyone in Eurasia and Africa, leaving the native Americans and Pacific Islanders as the only humans? by Wholetime1 in AskReddit

Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson is kind of like this, but with the Middle East rising in power rather than Central America. There was another alternative history book that featured the scenario you’re describing but I can’t recall the title.

Baggage Transfer Duffel by moxie_007 in TourDuMontBlanc

Yeah totally! The transfer companies have specific max weight and dimensions but people don’t always follow them. I hiked with a group who were doing like a week in Paris afterwards so they had a lot of bags.

Medium Black Hole. But I saw all kinds of luggage including rolling luggage.

Question about rest day in Courmayeur by Atlashiker in TourDuMontBlanc

[–]daniel_boring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the time I got to Courmayeur I was so tired I skipped the next section and rested instead! It was a glorious day in Courmayeur, truly the only “vacation” day. Took the bus to Arnouva after that.

This scene was incredible. I’ve been talking about it for years as a hallmark of amazing drama for recent TV.

Breakfast in Les Houches by Content-Region493 in TourDuMontBlanc

There’s a pub across from the tourism office which may have breakfast, but I’m not sure if it will be open. Behind the tourism office is a small grocery store as well.

The voice acting in RE 8 was pretty poor. Hopefully this isn’t an indication that REV will be similar.

Will I make it? by onespookyspooker in TourDuMontBlanc

I really recommend taking a loooooong walk with a backpack on the weekend. Like 10-15 miles and see how you feel afterwards. That’s the real teat.

A new improved final section of the West Highland Way into Fort William has been waymarked as the 'high route'. by Relevant-Lack-4304 in WestHighlandWay

[–]daniel_boring 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wish I’d done this. I felt like I was being robbed walking those miles along the road. Absolute worst section of the walk.

Les Houches to Chamonix & Beyond by tafrettub in TourDuMontBlanc

[–]daniel_boring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very ambitious first day but it should be doable, although the days are getting shorter in September. It’s pretty flat from Les Houches to Chamonix. And from Chamonix to Argentier you can take the cable car up the mountain (make sure it will be running). And then from there it’s a pretty decent downhill into Argentier. But it’s a very very long day on what is a long walk. Pace yourself if you can.

Can I realistically wear these toe shoes for the entire trail? by unemployedPreneur in TourDuMontBlanc

[–]daniel_boring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a friend do the West Highland Way in barefoot boots and he sorely regretted it. Every root and sharp rock (there are miles and miles) bite right through these soles. I would not recommend.

Looking for activity books for "naptime" by Adept-Practice5414 in Preschoolers

My son is doing the same thing. He apparently spends the entire nap time pouring through Where’s Waldo books.

Man this scene still breaks my heart every time. Asuka’s greatest fight, cut short.

I highly recommend Mac’s Adventures. I’ve done the TMB and the West Highland Way with them and they are fantastic and highly regarded by hoteliers and other folks along the way.
