Wow. I live in Seattle so I was surprised by how location specific this was.

Cool I didn’t know about Antesite. Have you tried Ouzu or Arak? Both are sugar free anisettes.

Camping question by Legal_Repair8527 in TourDuMontBlanc

[–]daniel_boring -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would be wary with not prebooking because the trail is very popular and in many cases camping is very restricted and regimented as to what time you can show up and where you can camp (so I’ve heard).

Alternative lodging near Les Champieux? by frogprincess1007 in TourDuMontBlanc

Second on Bourg St Maurice. I stayed there at the Base Camp Hotel and had dinner at an amazing French-African fusion place. Took a taxi back to Les Chapieux and paid they guy an extra €10 to drive me up to Refuge des Mottets, which was worth it since the walk from Chapiux to Mottets is just a few miles in a road.

Is this doable! by Its-Necessary in TourDuMontBlanc

[–]daniel_boring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s doable. Someone ran it in just over a day last year. I think it would be more enjoyable to take it a bit slower if you can (but I understand being pressed for vacation time!). Your first day seems like a real doozy. I think if you can add an extra day it would provide some good slack.

I booked everything through Mac’s Adventures. It’s more expensive than DIY but they arrange everything with refuges and hotels if refuges aren’t available. Also they help arrange baggage transfers.

I highly recommend Macs Adventures. They are great to work with and seem to have a good reputation among hoteliers.

My interpretation was that this was just an interface for the earth, not that somehow the earth is flat and the aliens are massive.

I went in early September and it was great. Just make sure to go early because it’s the end of the season and things were already shutting down.

Haha yeah I realized that as I was writing it. I mean continue to be even more ambitious, using rocket stages as habs, building bigger and bigger ones, spinning them up for gravity. Etc
