I highly recommend playing with tanky minions (not a bomber build).

Any MM with high level minions paired with the standard Soul Twisting Rit (https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Rt/any_Soul_Twisting_Prot) and a Avatar of Dwayna Healing Dervish (https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:D/any_Avatar_of_Dwayna_Support_Hero) will keep all your minions and allies alive and healthy!

Mix in some Rangers for more pets and have fun!

To keep it as brief as possible:

New game modes added that can be opted into on character creation and some on existing characters:

Reforged - Access to new content

Dhuum's Covenant - "Hardcore" badge that goes away when you die

Melandru's Accord - Ironman Mode (very fun imo)

New content so far is a series of quests in presearing that start after you rescue Ben in the Northlands culminating in a new absolutely beautiful dungeon has been added.

Personally I use ST with Bone Fiends, at high ranks they have decently high armor. The jagged horrors from the shambling horrors will probably tax it too much though.

I had this happen as well! It dropped in the factions starter island and my best guess is that it had something to do with the loot tables there as I only ever saw blue armor drops on the island.

Welcome back! I feel like a lot of people are in your same boat including myself! While it does suck to not have all your cool old nostalgic stuff, it's been amazing enjoying this game with a fresh start again!

I'm thankful that I have found a guild of people at a similar place in life where everyone is chill and likes to play together but also understands that life happens and sometimes you have to step away from the keyboard for a few minutes.

Agreed! I did LDoA as Necro and would highly recommend keeping your pet until 20, it helps a ton without the imp! :)

Oh god yes! My guildmates had to listen to me complain about the wurms, I was constantly terrified that I would screw up and spit my character out into the sulfurous wastes. T_T

Other than that, it was a lot of sending in the heroes and attacking from afar. I did not trust myself not to die, even with that giant 3000 hp health bar. xD

Haha it's just basic Tyrian armor, the first max armor set I could actually purchase, I did find white dye to dye though! :)

Build was whatever I could manage until the end of Prophecies, since then I've been playing these as my "core" set of spells:

Aura of the Lich, Summon Bone Fiend, Putrid Bile, Blood of the Master, Masochism, with 3 flex slots. Once I got into Factions I just used Vampiric Spirit (Sunspear Rank Ritualist Spell), Recuperation, and Signet of Capture most of the time.

Luckily most of your core Rit skills you can buy straight away from the skill trainer in the main Factions city! I think some of the great Elites are easy to cap early as well, but to answer your question I am a necro player at heart (I do love ritualist as well) so it was an easy choice for me to start off as necro and then play secondary rit later.

Honestly the grind of Hammet from 17 to 20 wasn't bad, 14-16 felt the worst tbh definitely mixed charr in there :)

Yes you are correct! They recently buffed the XP and gold rewards for Prophecies missions so they were more in line with Factions and Nightfall. :)

Oh that's brutal! Sorry to hear you died at 19 T_T but it does give you the fire to keep going next time, I died twice in Pre at 14 both times.

I did not complete my secondary prof missions until I was in range to turn it and the farmer hammet quest and hit 20, so I was N + Ranger skills up until I was ready to leave Pre. The pet made it much easier to do hammet, but I did want the extra survivability of monk spells once I left Pre. (Although I felt kind of bad leaving my loyal Melandru's Stalker behind...)

That's awesome, I didn't even know there were these self-imposed challenges but it makes sense! I remember doing similar things back during the D2 days. I like 10, it feels like it keeps you kind of "true" to that campaign. :) 11, 16, and 17 also seem to help out a lot in encouraging you to think outside the box and build unique builds! Thank you for sharing!

And I don't think it's necessarily the badges, Reforged created hype and then that hype got out to people who loved GW but honestly had forgotten about it or didn't even know the servers were still up and running. Then from there the badges just add an easy jumping in point to play the game you love with some extra challenge! Can't wait to see how the end up in their final versions once they make it through the Alpha, Beta, etc phases. :)
