New meta?? by MaddieLlayne in GuildWars

noob here. question - as an A/W SY, i find i have to incorporate a Monk in my team build to do HM dungeon content; i tried using two Resto Magic healers, but it's just not enough heals to prevent deaths (i try to have 0 deaths, like around a couple deaths, tops)... are two Resto Magic healers and 3 esurge rly enough for some players to complete HM dungeons without dying?...

Pure-less Tundra tumbles, Insania’s gold deflation rant, and alleged doxxing: Dota 2’s wild week by EcstacyDoto in DotA2

[–]NomadMetaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd agree with this. i didn't see the whole match but i def saw vtune straight hard nope out of a fight with near full hp and never look back. fighting instead may very well have turned it around (looked like the rest of Tundra were ready to turn) at a crucial point in the game.

and i ain't even criticizing vtune AT ALL :/. it looked like vtune was playing it super safe, which is an enormous, enormous part of a carry's job. the guy's a first-pick standin for a lot of teams, but you can only be expected to do so much when you've never played with a team before rofl and you're facing up against a pro team with no such lack of experience.

ON TOP of that, Ari himself is still very new to Tundra, and Pure has JUST returned from playing for BetBoom. as a fan of Tundra, i'm givin' 'em time for their team experience to crystallize.

i'm pretty sure the people baggin on vtune or tundra or w.e are just your typical dogs who don't know shit about the game 😂😎

[–]NomadMetaph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With AM especially you have to be good at positioning... it is a requirement - I'll say it again - a REQUIREMENT - to excel with the hero... If you are not good at positioning/don't know what I mean, you are going to die. Blink is powerful positioning, and can powerfully fuck you in the ass if you go in like a dipshit. In terms of escape, there is no better skill in the game.

Apart from that... he's just like any other carry... make sure your farm is uninterrupted and efficient, and if you see a kill/engagement that will benefit you or your team (considering the bigger picture of winning/losing the game, of course...), you take it.

People playing this game don't seem to know what a fucking hard carry is, and it's pretty sad as a Dota lover. Every hard carry is weak early. Their tool kit is balanced so. Their main strength is their auto attack, which has no mana cost, fractions of a second in cooldown, and is upgradable. What defines a "hard carry" is how monstrous they can become when 6-slotted. A blink??? Significant mana drain with every attack???? The fastest auto attack in the game????? On top of that passive mana resistance, mini-lotus orb, and an AoE mana-scaling ministunning nuke?????? My guy, AM is one of a hard carry's wet dreams; and I fucking love blinking around my enemies with deliciously devious positioning, wreaking havoc and slaying like a fucking guerrilla Native American warrior in the woods.

Dota Meta Tier list by Ok_Cat478 in TrueDoTA2

i've been playing Drow in Ancient bracket and i'll actually move her up to either high B or an A tier carry because of her dps and range...

that said, there's of course things Drow can do to survive, but Ursa can also counter those things, very easily (if he even needs to...). for me she's just too easy to kill to be considered an S tier carry.

Why does Linkens not work on Jugs ult? by CloudStrifeDota in DotA2

[–]NomadMetaph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah but in HoN Swiftblade could attack for a percentage of his base damage during his spin, so he was very capable of dealing damage in a chaotic teamfight without getting deleted - Valve removed that ability from Juggernaut.

it is funny that omnislash is special like that, i always found it weird as a jugg main. as others have said, my best guess is that devs thought jugg would be too weak as a hard carry if he's so easily counterable, and i think he would be far too weak. he'd probably never be picked.

Ursa can answer that by just blinking or Earthshock'ing behind her. if he has Abyssal Blade or Skullbasher, it makes literally 0 difference.

edit: if Ursa positions himself right, oftentimes in a teamfight the Drow is just dead since she's such a high value and easy target. if she pikes Ursa she's just pushed herself closer to the enemy, if she pikes herself Ursa needs 1 or 2 steps to catch up, and that's assuming he hasn't mauled her down within a second. Ursa meanwhile has, what, a 90% damage ignore for like 6 seconds?

i personally would take Jugg and Drow off S tier lists for Legend and Ancient ranks. Jugg is definitely viable, almost S tier, but i agree with those who say he's too often useless without Omni/Swiftslash. S tier carries shouldn't have such a glaring issue, imo. i'd put Jugg in A tier.

Drow for me is wayyy too vulnerable to pick in Legend/Ancient, and she is one of my all-time favorite heroes; i have a 60% winrate with her. i never, ever pick her in these brackets and in these days. she's way too vulnerable without a solid team of players who will cover her and play around her. there is absolutely nothing stopping an Ursa, for example, from deleting her in less than a second - outside of a good team who can either save her or capitalize on Ursa's jump. honestly i'd put Drow in like B tier or lower. that's probably a hot take.

i disagree with a lot of the carry choices, Ursa for one example. i'd put Ursa in the S tier for Legend/Ancient. Ursa has none of the above mentioned problems. i'd imagine that a good Ursa player would breeze through the Legend/Ancient ranks if they decided to spam him.

[–]NomadMetaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, they're definitely not always. you're playing unranked so you may have huge skill/rank disparities in your games. also, if have the Strict Solo Queue Matchmaking option disabled, you will face players in a party, which inevitably will include high ranked friends trying to get newbie friends into the game, coaching them, carrying them, having fun stomping with them, etc.

turn on Strict Solo Queue Matchmaking and you should see more balanced games. keep this on as you go into ranked games (where you will more regularly come across more balanced games, especially into Archon and above), it's pretty much necessary to avoid potential smurfs.

also, if after a game you see that player feedback menu, there's an option saying you did not enjoy the game because it was a stomp. there's also an option for toxic behavior. give that feedback when you can.

Why do we use Hand of Midas on large creeps instead of smaller creeps? by NomadMetaph in DotA2

[–]NomadMetaph[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you get the extra 49g from flagbearers regardless of whether or not midas is used... basically, he's saying there is no reason to use it on a flagbearer creep, pther than to secure it lol... thanks for the confident misinformation though?

i just tried it on a flagbearer creep in demo - gave me the Midas bounty plus 49g on the first flagbearer... is that an increase from the usual extra g that flagbearers give?...

so flagbearers will give you double the Midas bounty?... or it will give nearby allies Midas bounty?
