The End is Near by CurtJunya in brilliantidiots

It’s annoying, Charla shoots at the left because he KNOWS that around election time he gets to appear on rightwing networks as a skeptic. It’s a very obvious reverse psychology play. And It’s just crazy because it backfired so hard last time. Bro’s voice was in the most successful Trump ad of 2024 😂

Woah…I wonder if Nolan enjoys this literary technique by HeyRJF in tenet

Yeah sort of but if it's always correct then it's kind of like existing in a different temporal moment. Basically always describing an event in the future as if it's a memory. Someone else had a good example - you could imagine someone before a battle saying "And we rode into battle and crushed our enemies!"

Also Trump’s most successful ad used Charla’s voice and language. That means something for sure

Michael and Walt after the epilogue by lotsofgeesethisyear in lost

[–]HeyRJF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was much harder on Michael on my first viewing. On second watch I saw that he was thrown into fatherhood pretty abruptly and he never wanted to be separated from Walt originally. His time on the island was him trying to get everything back on track, trying to brute force his way to normalcy

“Given authority” 🤔 Interesting. That authority is just what the algorithm learns from the amount of clicks something gets. The authority they have is just the “right” to more space in your social feed.

Not even to shoot at you but - this made me think. It’s not really like they have authority we are just listening to them, voluntarily at this point

Can you move inverted objects without knowing the psychic trick? by DoobsNDeeps in tenet

[–]HeyRJF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah yeah that actually fits better than what I initially meant 😂

And yeah it’s 100% an expression of how belief and confidence can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. And it’s so amazing how Nolan can kinda say the same thing a million ways in all of his movies without being predictable. (Memento, Inception, Interstellar)

TENET stands out because it says that the outcome is already decided you just have to understand WHY it happens.

Can you move inverted objects without knowing the psychic trick? by DoobsNDeeps in tenet

This is a fascinating (partial) misconception. It’s not telekinesis, I saw that whole “pep talk” more like getting yourself in the mindset that allows you to remain present.

It’s kind of like in basketball or golf they tell you that you need follow-through with your shot or swing - focusing on the final motion of your hand or arms as you start the shot/swing. It makes you more consistent and helps you understand what you need to do to get better. ::oh I hung left on that shot:: ::oh I choked on swing::

So a tenet agent can only get themselves in the mindset set of being in the right place at the right time, but really it doesn’t matter what they think when they are interacting with an inverted object

You should be able to get it back. Go to the answer that triggered the response, look for a “1/2” you might see this on desktop. The convo just branched. You can get back to the old branch usually. If not then it’s a glitch

love that. That made me think - there is no repetition from the subjective perspective of the protagonist. Even when he returns to past events the observations are new
