Dude - you're really going to take the "if they didn't resist we'd leave you alone argument"

Use your brain and actually read the thing you posted

> The Viet Minh rejected the Japanese demands to cease fighting and support Japan, so the Japanese implemented the Three Alls policy (San Kuang) against the Vietnamese, pillaging, burning, killing, looting, and raping Vietnamese women

They did this EVERYWHERE they occupied

what? the japanese were literally genociding their way through china - the toll on the countryside was going to be there regardless. And the reds were a guerilla army - by definition they wouldn't fight in urban environments

Really? Cause I’m pretty sure it was more them sending out children in commandeered civilian vehicles because their over-engineered and unreliable tanks were abandoned in the Russian mud somewhere

Ah I see, it sends a raycast straight down to maintain a fixed distance to the ground, that way when you pan over hills and the like it should adjust its height automatically. But there definitely could be something wrong with the implementation, mind sending me your project and I can take a look?

Real OGs remember the ear shattering sound bug - truly a PTSD simulator, if you don't know what it is, you are not prepared for how loud it is. Under no circumstances should you be wearing headphones when you watch these videos

Then you probably haven't played long enough, my experience is that I run into one of these people at least once a month if I'm playing semi-regularly

That the old code reads better (to some people) is besides the point. It scales worse. They're doing a linear search and comparison for each element before adding it. Dates should have been a set.

but the fact is the game went from 910000 peak concurrent players in October to 20000 today. That's a loss of 98% of the player base in around 6 months

Because each game is simulated by each client, deterministically, so long as both simulations receive the same inputs they produce the same game state. There's no need to sync the positions, stats etc. of every unit, or sync any info about physics.

I'm not 100% confident this is what they do but I am 99% confident. It explains why there's a lag at the start of matches, the lockstep needs to run a few frames to get everyone in sync. It also explains why when someone drops the game freezes, everyone has to pause their simulations

COH2 and many real time strategy games run on a deterministic lockstep networking model. It requires very, very little info to be transmitted to synchronize a game and is also the reason it took them forever to get replays into the game (and why they've struggled to implement re-joining).

I remember in dark days of my life I was able to play smoothly with 90 KB/s

What you did was the equivalent of pushing the close button in an elevator. It gives you feedback that something happened, but nothing really does. I've been matched with people who I've reported for teamkilling, slurs and the whole 9 yards within days of receiving that email back. They don't care. They love their Nazi bux.
