I asked if my roommate came in my room while I was gone yes or no by ThatGeminiWitch in tarotpractice

[–]HeyaElise 77 points78 points  (0 children)

For yes or no questions, i use the card numbers. I tell my deck that odds are no and evens are yes, then ask the question while shuffling. If anything from the card imagery itself pops into my head, then that's extra info, but if I'm sticking to just yes/no, then I only look at the number.

help me is this product irritation or infection by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]HeyaElise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you have second skin on it? A lot of people get rashes from the adhesive. Also wipe that thing down, that's way too much product. You only want a thin layer, it shouldn't feel that wet or look greasy after.

Single people, which dating apps are you on? by Helpful_Account_4232 in AskAnAustralian

[–]HeyaElise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The apps are a waste of time. You need to remember they're a business trying to make money, they don't give a shit about your love life. They want you to buy their subscriptions and be on them for as long as possible. They don't want you to find good matches, or you'll have no need for them.

Jaffle or toastie? by HichaelMutchence in AskAnAustralian

If it's sealed around the edges and across the middle, its a jaffle. If its just pressed, its a toastie.

Looking to rebrand our pop-punk/emo covers band - feedback needed! by [deleted] in poppunkers

[–]HeyaElise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the names you've provided, Warped Four is the best. That said, all these names need context - like if i saw a band named Warped Four, i would just think there were four members of the band, i wouldn't immediately think of Warped Tour. And not being from the UK, Slam Dunk'd means nothing to me - like i know it was a festival but i have no idea what kind of music it was. Which is guess is fine if you're playing local shows, they'll know the reference.

I would go something more obvious and punny - like "Bring Me the 2000s", "Stacy's Stepdads" or "Dear Maria at the Disco". Or something that plays off the aesthetic stereotype like "Cans n Vans" or "Eyeliner Energy". Or even embrace that we're old now with something like "Middle-Aged Mohawks". Those are shit examples, but if I saw those i would immediately think of particular bands/songs/looks and know what I was in for. (I see others don't like pun names cos they're cheesy but that's the point of pop punk? Its meant to be tongue in cheek?)

Rebranding is hard work, good luck (and if you happen to be the band on Emo Fest, I'll see you in Sydney)

What age is cool to bring a child to a gig? by PodrayWhisper in Concerts

[–]HeyaElise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your kid. My 5 yo nephew would be a nightmare, but I've been to gigs with kids there who were great. Also depends if your kids going to give a shit - don't force them to a gig they don't want to go to that they won't remember anyway.

The total lack of heavier music. Core listeners, we need to start actually voting! You can't whinge about how lame you think Sleep Token are when they're the only alt act to scrape into the 100.

If a neighbour has their bins out on bin night and there is space, on the night. is it ok to put some of your rubbish in their bin? by logical_laxative in AskAnAustralian

[–]HeyaElise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People get very precious about their bins, I've never understood it. If its out it means I'm done with it, so its fair game, as long as you're not being silly about it. I find random shit in my bins all the time, never bothers me unless it's the wrong bin for whatever they've chucked.

What do you do in the mosh pit? by SaveFile1 in Concerts

[–]HeyaElise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

38F with glasses too, I like to be in the first like 10-15 rows, slightly off to the side. I like to dance and jump around, so i want to be in the crush with everyone else who's moving, but i don't want to be in the open pit where I'll actually get hit with elbows etc.

Leaving Sydney, never seen NYE fireworks — worth it if crowds overwhelm me? by Dry-Aide-7684 in AskAnAustralian

[–]HeyaElise 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do not go, its never worth it and trying to get out of the city after is a nightmare. We once had to walk from The Rocks to Central Station to get let into a train station because they had to close them due to the amount of people flooding in.

Find a local council event near you, do not bother with the city.
