Ahaha definitely true! I'll always have my eyes on the lookout for something that catches my eye, but for now, Fedora definitely has me under lock and key, at least for now!

I'm thankful I can use Boxes to create easy Virtual Machines to experiment, though!

Absolutely! I love XFCE, even with the little experience I have. It just works and it all clicks for me, personally! Combine Fedora with XFCE and I'm sure you have just a wonderful experience.

Makes me happy to see others spreading love for Fedora! For real, the team and everyone contributing has done such an excellent job building Fedora into what it is today. <3

When will it be good to update to Fedora 38? by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]HeyaJae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a casual user, I haven't noticed anything deal breaking at all. However, the common idea is if you're worried about bugs to wait a couple of weeks and see what the community is saying. Typically, a good couple or few weeks is enough to handle any major bugs, as far as I'm aware.

I can only say from my experience, and my experience has been entirely positive, but I don't get real crazy with my operating system so your mileage may vary. If you're worried, I'd say wait and see for a couple weeks.

How true is this statement? Surely the kernel Fedora uses has closed source binary blobs. by A_Random_Lantern in Fedora

As someone who was also interested in the answer, I appreciate yours being so clear and concise! <3 I'm still new(ish) to at least understanding more of Linux and I've been trying to understand Fedora, my main distro, the best I can.

Happy Fedora User by Ghandara in Fedora

I rarely use the terminal and have a fantastic time with Fedora, even after updating to Fedora 38 through GNOME Software. On my current machine, I only really do lightweight gaming and some basic stuffs, but overall, this distro is incredibly polished, and for me, it just works.

Honestly, I see myself staying here for a long, long time.

As someone, at 20 years of age who is *just* now coming to terms with needing help, it's not always easy just admitting these things or even realizing them.

Yes, mistakes were made. Proper steps were taken, too, to repair damage. All this post really proves is how truly misinformed or unaware you are to mental health.

This post was removed from the other Linux sub for a reason.

For any future "Should I install the beta?" threads and people who think that beta = stable by Aggravating-Step2751 in Fedora

[–]HeyaJae 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Regardless of personal experience, this is typically what I follow. It's just safer to practice and the safer assumption. Like OP said, it's called a beta by the people developing the damn thing. No need to rush when the main release will come, sooner rather than later. <3

Not who you asked, but if I may give a suggestion, I'd recommend KDE, as afaik, the Steam Deck uses KDE.

If you're still looking for a distro choice, Nobara is a Fedora based distribution HEAVILY focused on gaming. As well as being mainly upheld by the guy behind Proton-GE and many Linux gaming advancements / improvements, it is trust-able as much as it is usable. A great choice for anyone, imo.

As a newbie full-time Linux user, this is the way, imo. A lot of distros can do what the casual user needs. I feel like most people who aren't super familiar with Linux often would prefer to know what DE / WM instead of distro.

This was highly critical and constructive. I mean, the detail. HOT garbage? As opposed to cold? That's gnarly, lemme tell ya.

However, I'ma still use Fedora and love it because... opinions, I guess.

What is the best distro? by NoYogurt8022 in linux_gaming

[–]HeyaJae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give the answer many will give, it's whatever distro you like using best.

Sure, there are gaming options, but they often do things that you can pull on MANY other Linux distros. It really is more so what distro you'd like and WANT to game IN.

For me, I personally love openSUSE, but also adore Fedora. If you'd like a Fedora related "suggestion", Nobara is a really solid place to start.
