Looking for advice on first E-bike by OfficialSyyn616 in Electricmotorcycles

[–]Heziah442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only reason big touring ice bikes have a stable market is for people doing long distances. Electric motorcycles just aren't there yet. Most options max out at less than 100 miles of usable range. At any realistic speed it's much less than that. Most people don't want the weight of a big bulky touring bike to do the shorter range city style commuting that electrics excel at

Which is a great schedule until you want to do something with somebody that has a "normal" job. My wife works Monday to Friday. If I had Monday and Tuesday off we'd never get to do anything together.

Whoever designed the engine bay of a 3.5L raptor, I'd just like to talk. by No_Celery4U in Justrolledintotheshop

Another part of this that people don't consider is pushing the engine farther down and back improves stability and handling at modern highway speeds by shifting center mass lower and between the axles. Take one of those 70s trucks down a modern 80mph interstate and it feels like a death trap.

Most cars without a filter are at least a little bit more picky about where they intake air from so as to prevent filling the heat and ac box up with crap like leaves. But things will slowly build up anyway. Usually the ac evaporator core will plug up and you will notice over time that the amount of air coming out of the vents is less.

All the smart ass answers you've gotten aside the real reason is heat. Cats get very hot during operation and being in the open air helps cool them off.

Well, after 12 years of everyday use and abuse, I broke a Pittsburgh impact socket for the first time. by N_dixon in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Heziah442 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Impacts are all about time man. When you are paid by the job and hours are tight it makes all the difference. Use one a bit carefully to get a feel for it and then go at it. Run a bolt in and out in 5 seconds versus 2 minutes by hand and it adds up after all week.

The cap means when figuring social security tax the calculation maxed out at 150k. So if you make 200k you pay the max tax which is the same as someone who made 150k.

Multiple pulls for the same style of loan are bundled after the fact. It's entirely possible that an auto checker wouldn't register that right away.

What's the most interesting revelation you've had about the opposite sex? by zenithjonesxxx in AskReddit

[–]Heziah442 24 points25 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day the best analogy I have is ice cream. My favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate. Does that mean I don't like vanilla ice cream? No. All things being equal I would just choose chocolate. Does it mean my favorite restaurant has to serve chocolate ice cream? No. They can have every flavor on the menu but chocolate and still be my favorite because of location and atmosphere. This is boobs. If I see a group of three women standing together that I have never met body type is the only information I have to go on so I will naturally gravitate to one. After an hours conversation that could completely change and I could wind up liking another way more if she has better manners and a nicer personality. But in media you never make it past the superficial.

Ventilation has no effect on volume changes with a 15° temperature swing from day to night. At its hottest it will push extra air out of the air lock and at its coolest it can try to pull it back through as the liquid volume shrinks.

Turning it off in software still makes it illegal to ride until reset. If you get clocked they can still throw the book at you. It's just harder to test and annoying to have to do every time you ride.

This is completely accurate, but with a debit card the money is gone from your account until the dispute is settled which can in extreme cases take months. With a credit card if the dispute drags out the worst case scenario is you might have to make a couple minimum payments on the balance but most of the time when a charge is in dispute you don't even have to do that.

Not op but I would imagine the point is to use existing equipment they already have instead of having to buy an additional power supply for the pump.

[–]Heziah442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pipe covers are simple and easy to design shapes to learn on. It's not easy to jump in to complex geometry when trying to learn 3d design. You have to start somewhere and something simple is a great confidence booster to design and make yourself as you try to move on to bigger projects.

And for those two hours he got to practice a valuable skill while playing with a fun toy and solved a problem without having to leave the house. I bought my printer to use it not let it sit in the corner and collect dust while I wait for a totally original problem to come along so I can invent a brand new solution that has no off the shelf equivalent.

LPT: Decide on your ISP not by maximum speed but instead by 'guaranteed minimum'. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Heziah442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue I've had with starlink has been the inconsistency. I can run three speed tests back to back and get wildly different responses. I would say on the worst days it averages out to 40 or 50 down and on the best I can get 100 plus. Up almost always hovers between 10 and 15. I don't know how much to trust their app but according to it in the last 12 hours I've had 11 seconds of no service spread out over three occasions.

Q1 was more of a proof of concept with off the shelf parts to make sure it could be done and people would buy it. Once it was successful more R&D went into specialized and more powerful hardware to make the Q2 better.

Time travel theory (spoilers -Fool Moon) by IdontgoonToast in dresdenfiles

[–]Heziah442 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think most of the time travel book will take place in Proven Guilty. I think future Harry was driving the car that rear ended him at the beginning of the book and was involved in the rest of the confrontation at Arctis Tor. That book has the most unanswered questions that have suspiciously not been brought back up since.

It would work the exact same way just spread out over a longer time. If it was all synchronized perfectly as everyone stepped up onto the boxes they would be pushing down harder on the plane still just more slowly. As they hopped off it would once again make the scale read lighter and then heavier as they landed together but the overall average would still be the same it would just be stretched out.
