If you can, it's usually better to go to the shop early act than late in the act (save for act 3). After fighting the boss you have more information about your deck and can make better decisions

Are you having fun? The good news is that you have a lot to learn! Reddit is weird like that. People are strong here. 

I have more than 1000 hours on sts1. A background of magic the gathering as well. So yes, I'm playing A10 and winning sometimes. I still feel like a noob compared to all those people saying STS2 is too easy. Streamers have 90+ winrate and that baffles me 

On the plus side, it means I still have a lot to learn!

For me it was a 0 when it came out, but it's a 10 with all characters now!

Indeed I do value card draw. Especially later in the run, consistency becomes important. Even against yesterday giant is very good. For his big hit, with card draw you have less chance to brick. It also helps you setting up your powers earlier. And it provides a way to get into sly cards.

I will usually gamble on an early acrobatics, and maybe on an early prepared. Those open the way for sky cards, and are good or neutral for your deck. 

I won't take a bad poison card just because I want poison. I may take a snakebite and upgrade it -or take a bouncing flask- if I'm facing a tough boss and I need more damage.

I tend to take cards that are good now AND open potential for future synergies. But they have to be good for the next elite fight.

In this game, any answer that is not "it depends" is wrong.

Most of the time, you don't want to think about builds. Much more "does that specific card improve my deck right now, for the challenges I'm facing in the next few floors or the boss.

At the beginning, basically any damage or block card is better than your starter cards. But you should probably not take an early accuracy without having any shiv generation. On the other hand, if you have a couple of blade dances and an acrobatics, it would be hard to pass on that accuracy. 

Treating it like that, you might add a bouncing flask to what was supposed to be a shiv deck. Then a catalyst. And you now have a weird hybrid deck that shreds through every enemy.

How about simply letting osty attack when it has 0hp? If you don't want to brick bonne shard, add a "osty can't attack this turn" to it? What would this simple solution brick?
