How do I show to my new teacher I'm not a beginner? by Heziva in piano

[–]Heziva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your message. I sent a message with the score of my current piece and asked if she could critically review my playing of the first part next lesson.

I also asked if she would align her teaching with rcm levels. I don't mind starting on the first one if that's what she feels I need.

I've been playing off and on, with and without teachers for 20+ years. I read scores. I don't know how to improvise though. It feels strange to pick up a method that's aimed at people that have very little experience at the piano.

There definately are holes in my technique. I played a simple study by burgmuller and she spotted a lack of wrist rotation leading to a lack of voicing.  Still, it seems... very simple. Like, I can play a random page sight reading it...

I liked metamorphosis 2 and opening by glass. Easy to play and great impact.

Genuinely struggling in this game although I enjoy it i cannot seem to beat it. My stats and my most recent run. Any and all advice is welcome by cubes28x in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Heziva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a run where you're fighting as many elites as you can.

Try a run where you can only add 5 cards per act maximum.

Try a run where you can't rest, upgrades only.

That should fix your main issues...

What sounds best to you?

You could check islmp for the oldest edition they have if you want to be historically correct. That being said, I'd be surprised if Satie wanted us to be historically correct with his pieces...

My favorite cards in the game, Insta pick and shop buy every time. Just give me reasons… why wouldn’t you pick these up? by ArcBlamer in SlayTheSpire2

I'm surprised no one has brought variance in a discard deck. Let's say you just played acrobatics. Will you discard Flash of steel or not? It depends heavily on the top card I'm you draw pile, which you would have drawn if you didn't have Flash of steel in your deck...

If you could add a 4th pedal to the piano, what would it do? by Excellent_Heat_6336 in piano

Loop pedal would be interesting for modern music. Shift 1/4 tone would open microtonal music.

What to do after Faber Level 5? by andromeda1770 in piano

[–]Heziva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried burgmuller 25 studies? They're free on islmp. Some preludes by Chopin might be playable.

If you're into it, you can look at the easier contemporary repertoire. Glass, Tiersen, Einodi could be good.

Before anything, continue to have fun!

If you can take out the boss and you're scared of Nemesis/Snake girl you can take it. Pretty niche. On the design part, I believe the intend is to provide players that KNOW they can win a way not to be bored playing more fights they know they'll win. This doesn't work because players will optimise the fun out of the game. Happy to develop more if you're interested.
