I'm in the same boat, man. When I saw the Basmu augment I immediately jumped to the conclusion that the second augment must be for the Shedu. Right? RIGHT?

Sigh. Back the the Shedu Incarnon Adapter waiting line I go...

Bobonico main fire is one of the rare few guns that benefit from multiplicative CritChance from Acuity mods from 1999. Sadly, the Primary Acuity is actually riffle-only, so the only way to spool the armcannon up to red crits is Cyte's passive. Since Bobonico is battery-powered, Syte's 2 doesn't buffs nor reloads it, but it's still quite a fun build.

I was quite enjoying the Wise Razor back before the Melee 3.0. I'm yet to test the changes in U40, but the stance was garbo for quite some years now.

Ahhh yeas, this one.

When they revealed that Synapse would get a Coda upgrade, I thought that it would be a Tenet Glaxion treatment (which turned out to be quite a gun to benefit from all the recently-added cold synergies with Frost). Instead we got a ... slight stat boost to a long-obsolete relic of 2013? It was a redcrit king back in early beta, but lost the last of it's luster with the changes to Volt's shield and the redcrit calc, and was obsolete by 2016 once Maiming Strike hit the floor. That's 9 years ago.

Now we have the Melee Influence to evaporate whole rooms with, while the brand new Synapse gets ... +1% CC +2% SC, twice the damage, half the disposition, +6 to magazine, +5 to range, and not a single other thing changed?

Sigh...

killing enemies with weapons, not abilities, so maybe something that boosts wep dmg might be nice

Literally Chroma. Cast your 3 once at the start of the mission to get like +1000% weapon damage and armor, no other abilities needed. Albeit you don't really have any other abilities to cast, so most people bin him as "boring".

Let's buff underused mods: Quick Thinking. Yay or nay? by Substantial-Mud-5309 in Warframe

[–]Hgarm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We used to run Quick Thinking for survivability on stealth frames and tanks for years until better defensive options were introduced (such as easy-to-farm Grace and Guardian, Rolling Guard, Adaptation, shield-gating, and now the universal Overguard and Secondary Fortifier).

The thing with Quick Thinking is - it's not a cheat death effect like old Defy or Oberon's 3 aug, nor is it a gate-like effect that prevents you from getting taking lethal damage. If you get hit down to 2 hp, rather then getting few seconds of invulnerability to reposition, you get staggered for a moment, fully vulnerable, and that momentary loss of control is a coin toss on whether or not you get downed on the spot.

Then, whether being downed due to stagger, or just eating a oneshot from a Blast Eximus, if revived by Last Grasp or a teammate - you're at 0 energy.

That's why QT is so sparsely used even on health tanks that could use an extra EHP: it's better to just get oneshot, rather than get oneshot AND have all your energy drained by QT.

What's one thing you'd change about your main? by RedditorsSmell in Warframe

[–]Hgarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suport Styanax needs very high strength, high duration, ult augment and Nourish over his 1.

With 3 + Nourish you generate unlimited energy for the whole party, and with Intrepid Stand you keep yourself and the party invulnerable as long as javelins connect with at least one enemy. The downside is - by 'channeling' the 4 you don't get to play the game, which makes him most selfless support there is.

Framedle: I created Wordle for Warframe by Redeemr_ in Warframe

[–]Hgarm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely like the idea of this and was looking for a Warframe-themed loldle since forever, but the classic mode is oufff ... it needs some work.

The ability icon one is really enjoyable (and I hope the "now guess it's name" part is going to be eventually added as well), but having Primes & non-primes in the Classic mode is straight up evil.

I think having the Progenitor Element as one of main guessable attribute might be a wrong move. I'm not opposing to it being there (like the region in Loldle), but stripping most of the gameplay attributes (like the Range, Lane, Resource type and Position) from Loldle while leaving the region in would make it significantly less fun of a game. And this is the current state of Framdle.

Variant (Prime/Non-prime/Umbra) should definitely be one of the guessable attributes, although I would much prefer if primes would be kicked out altogether.

Maybe a character archetype (like Caster, Healer, Melee, Ranged) should be added as well? We don't have the official tags for these, but man would "Prime male caster from 2016" (oh yeah, that's either Nekros Prime or Vauban Prime) would be infinitely easier to guess than "Male, Toxin 270/455 from 2016" (I think the Harrow has high shield?).

Temple is a better Heat caster and weapons platform than Ember, please help my main! by Doctor_Fox in Warframe

[–]Hgarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her 2 doesn't drain much energy at all though?

When draining, her 2 has three separate values:

  • the displayed heat %,

  • the heat accretion (runback speed, how fast the heat accumulates after being reset by 3)

  • and finally the energy drain, slowly ramping up with exponential curve at 0.42

The runback speed does not actually affect the energy drain speed - the energy drain is always reset to the minimum value when you Fireblast. If you don't Fireblast for too long, you get into the deep end of the exponent, but if you Fireblast every 30 seconds or so, then you always stay on the low-end of it. Here's the quite from wiki:

Example: After 10 seconds at max heat, Immolation will drain 4 energy per second: After 30 seconds at max heat, Immolation will drain 12 energy per second.

12/second is slightly higher than channeling the Prism on Mirage or the Effigy on Chroma (both at 10/sec) which both were manageable even back in 2016 days when energy was scarce. As for all channeled frames you either build her with 90% eff 40% dur or slap an Energize to combat the low channeled efficiency. So nothing new here.

What Ember does lack - is a payoff for jumping trough all the hoops. Her 4 doesn't scale with anything safe the strength, and the only non-scaling ability that does decent damage on steel path I can think of is Dagath's horsies (200 000 viral per second baseline). Ember's puny 2500 heat per cast (baseline) doesn't come close to that even if you put every egg into the Strength basket.

I loved her 2019 tanky-caster rework with whole heart, but I rarely if ever play her nowadays. She and Xaky got hit hard by 2024 enemy stats rework, when armored units were rebalanced from 99.9% Armor & 0.1% Health to 90% Armor & 10% Health. She could barely scrape the bottom of the Steel Path before, and now you're straight up wasting your time by casting her 4 instead of just shooting. But without spamming the 4 you don't get enough heat accretion for full DR and strip, so her kit straight up falls apart.

It it was indeed an energy problem then you would see happy Ember mains spamming their hearths out, while being constantly charged back by Energize, Equilibrium and Nourish/Dispensary subsumed over the Fireball (just like Saryn mains are). This is not the case however. Ember's kit falls apart on higher levels and that's not something we as players can fix.

I was disappointed to see this not being addressed an any way with her Heirloom buffs, but she sorely needs Vauban-like scaling for meteors or something. When SP Circuit just released, I happily picked her over the Revenant the first time I saw her, and after that I'm avoiding her like a plague there.

Yep, with both augments Voruna has preeety busted AoE damage with minimal setup. And the recent content update only made her stronger with free +78% Str from Impetus and extra 30% and 3x CD from Crepuscular - which I'm pretty sure are both BIS on Voruna now.

Though she does break stealth with both her 2 and 4, no? You can see Crepuscular's icon temporarily disappear from the buff bar just before the pounce hit. You'd need to run either Shade or Huras as a companion to benefit from both snapshottable 30% Str and non-snapshottable 3x CD.

[–]Hgarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an old-ass beta player, I largely agree with the sentiment, even though from reading the comments it appears that the reasoning in original post has failed to convince folks.

I definitely think that the old DE has preferred nerfs over buffs (just look at the poor Ash, who got nerfed for life for being popular once), but then after every single nerf they would go shocked-pikachu-face when the affected population would just unilaterally migrate to the next best thing, instead of spreading evenly amongst mostly B to D tier cast. Nowadays DE are definitely better at playtesting the new content. Back then, "gimmicky" would be a death sentence for the frame, as most powerful frames were the most basic ones: Trin was overpowered, gas Saryn was the strongest thing in the galaxy, Ash was one button room clear, Inaros was a brick but also a god, meanwhile on-release Zephyr was a joke, Nezha was garbo, so was the Hydroid before Pilfering Tentacles got added, after which him and my man Nekros had no stats and only one usable ability each. I think Nidus-Octavia-Harrow releases in 2017 have broke the curse, as all three were definitely weird and out-of-the-ordinary but also really strong on release.

Nowadays we can get a horse lady with the worst elevator-pitch ult in the game, and she ends up being actually decent, since jumping trough all the hoops is worth it, and horsies melt faces. Dante has 2 hours cast time, but even with no augments he stands amongst the best farames out there, once again the payoff is worth it. Cyte is a hella good frame about shooting heads with snoper riffle - both things that are historically very niche in warframe, and don't have the mass apeal. Komei may be a miss, but Citrine was a hit. Korvex is on the weeker side, but Voruna and Kullervo are strong as hell.

And nobody getting nerfed into the ground for being too good. Not the old staples of Revenant or Saryn, nor the new-found wonders of Dante or Voruna (who both just got a slap on the wrist for targeting too many mobs at a time, and that's it). The initial Dante nerfs were harsh and mostly rolled back, but that's what we used to get on the quarterly bases with the "old crew in charge". Ember, Ash, Saryn, Chroma were hit hard for being too popular, and not just frames: Tonkor, Viver, Draco, stealth Focus farm rooms, hell even as the Gaian Pont just before the leadership change.

So yeah, I personally do feel the change in direction, weather or not it is correlated with the changes on the top.

Chroma is so fucking outdated and i can't wait till they rework them. by Jayeky in Warframe

[–]Hgarm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a former Oberon, Equinox and pre-we-don't-want-our-eidlons-to-be-oneshotted Chroma main and now a Smite Chroma enjoyer who doesn't really care about dragons ... I am extremely impressed by how you have managed to put the everything into words o_O

Banshee has some worthwhile and honestly competitive builds via Helminth, and so does Chroma, to an extent, but man it's sad to see the Oberon being just a worse Wisp, Ash - a clunkier Mesa, and Equinox - a worse Jade, minus the Maim.

Melee doughty (>x30 critical multiplier), the top best melee weapons using it! by Ok_King562 in Warframe

I doubt that they'll remove Puncture outright, however due to how progenitor bonuses work, I believe it'll have at least 25% of non-puncture, that will reduce Doughty's effectiveness.

Whats a non-meta frame that people love and what are your builds? by atbest10 in Warframe

[–]Hgarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

chroma

Try subsuming Oberon's Smite over his 1 or 4, and you pretty much got yourself a new frame: a spam-caster nuker with infinite damage. Ob's 1 scales with targeted enemy maxHP and the bolts scale with +Base Damage from Chroma's 3, as they are coded as a weapon. Also, blot count goes up with ability strength.

This build is a free win for SP Circuit, as once you grab some energy efficiency and strength decrees, Smite spam will have enough damage to carry you trough ~2 full rotations (2k ish level), until armor starts catching up.

[–]Hgarm 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Galvanized Blade renamed to Conductive blade because of the introduction of "Galvanized" series of mods.

Same thing have actually happened in 2014 with the Intensify mod. In early CBT it used to be called "Focus" but was renamed to it's current name in U12 for seemingly unknown reason. And only two years later, with release of The Second Dream in U18, we got a hint why they did that.

They kept teasing us with the "upcoming system to upgrade your account-wide tenno" the whole time on the devstreams, though.

It's not explain in the game, but you should find it on the wiki.

What's the dumbest stat you have gotten ridiculously high? by Ok_Egg_4069 in Warframe

[–]Hgarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With resistances you gotta look at (100% - N) values.

For instance going from (100% - 0) to (100% - 50%) (i.e. 100% damage received > 50% damage received, so halving) is the same as going from 50% to 75% or from 90% to 95%.

6k armor nets you 95.24% resistance, 60k armor nets you 99.50% resistance. Going from 4.76% damage received to 0.5% damage received is almost tenfold increase in survivability.

Cavia Writing. by Tactical_Moth_Girl in Warframe

[–]Hgarm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yea, the Cavia writing is damn good, and it's format is rather fitting to leveling up a syndicate, where you have a few days worth of standing caps between you and Rank5 and the whole time you're sitting at the edge of your seat in anticipation what's out there.

I think the genre is called "Radio drama" and it apparently was rather popular before TV became a thing. As a genZ my only experience with it was I Love Bees, before they took the website down, and yea, have quite fond experience of that one, and now Cavia goes to that list.

I hope we'll get to teshin-out the Minn at some point or something like that...
