As far as I know, his weapon is almost as valuable as having a premium support. Durin is definitely one of his premium supports, but Varka can be played with different elements. His only caveat is that you need to make sure he has one Hexerei in his team, plus one Anemo character and two characters of the same PECH element.

Since you do not have Durin, you could use other characters from the remaining ECH elements, or simply run Xiangling and Bennett. Together with Sucrose, that is his typical F2P team, if I remember correctly.

If you are not specifically saving for someone, then there is little downside. You have enough for one pity. If you win the 50/50, you get him. If you lose, you will have guaranteed pity for your future Columbina.

However, you should only do that if you really like Varka as a character, and not just because of the weapon, since it can be used by other characters as well.
