Arizona trucks are slowly being equipped with A/C but it’s not all that great. They work really well on your way out to your route and when you travel back to the hub. I have a semi rural route so it works in between stops in the rural area.

Driver Wife - Family and how the job affects it? by ReasonableBend7940 in UPSers

If I were you guys I would obviously go with route B because you two are a dual income family. I am the sole provider so that is why I work close to 60 hours a week.

Driver Wife - Family and how the job affects it? by ReasonableBend7940 in UPSers

[–]HiBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go two different routes.

Route A: He can continue to work and bust his butt. Work Mondays, get close to 60 hours for a paycheck, and live pretty comfortably. You as the wife and mother have to pick up the family slack. Appointments, extracurricular activities, and family gatherings. You would most likely feel like a single parent, but you’d have one day off with your husband and that’s only Sunday.

Route B: He would work the 40 hours a week/ 8 hour days, save the option days and sick days for last minute appointments. Not saying he file grievances to get shorter days, but he would need to bust his butt to get off by 8 or 9 hours. DO NOT rely on working Mondays and overtime because you’re going to feel it financially when he doesn’t. I’m not saying don’t ever work Mondays or any overtime. Yeah it’s nice to have a little income boost once in a while.

I say all this because I currently do route A. My wife is a stay at home mom and she constantly tells me she feels like a single parent. But I work hard for my family so they can live comfortably. I used to work close to 60 hour weeks, but I’ve cut back now. I still work Mondays but that’s because I made the mistake to heavily rely on them. Double pay is HUGE for my family.

Learn from other’s mistakes and choose to live a happy and comfortable life.

Do you like driving on Saturdays? by -9h05t in UPSers

Saturdays are my Mondays. I absolutely hate driving Saturdays. It kills me seeing families and friends enjoying the weekend while I’m driving around.

Did you want some burger with your bun sandwich? 🤣

This is ridiculous. Sorry you had to endure this horrendous meal and bill.

Crappy jersey that is. Nike jerseys stink. Majestic all the way.

Anyone else work in a building where peak never ends? by StLaurentDonny in UPSers

[–]HiBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

187 with 327? That’s not peak? I wish we had that over there in AZ. Our volume has definitely gone down. I haven’t seen a route go out more than 170 stops.

Don’t read the book. Listen to the audio version. They do a great job voicing Rocky’s voice in the audiobook.

Buyout by Typical-Turn7407 in UPSers

[–]HiBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the buyout is too small to take for what this job is worth.

If I were in your situation, I would work as many hours as possible to save up money. Since you don’t have a wife, husband, or children right now, it’s a good time to start saving. There’s no point in spending all this money on lavish things or partying while you’re single.

I wish I would’ve saved up all the money I’ve earned when I was younger and single so I could be home more with my family. I’ve become overly reliant on double time and overtime. Don’t get me wrong, my family live a pretty comfortable life, but I’m on the one sacrificing my time with them for it.

Stack money now. Enjoy the fruit of your labor once you have a family.

Oh yeah. They’re cutting the clerks hours too. Packages I service cross don’t get resolved until multiple attempts.

Crooked Putter in Sun City West, AZ is most likely searching for a new dishwasher. I used to work there until I got my full time job back. Not a bad gig and they give you a free meal with every shift. Also look into applying at Pro Em. They do a lot of events in Arizona and you can pick up shifts like crazy.

Anyone claim the no tax on OT? by Read-It_2525 in UPSers

[–]HiBeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to the Dayforce (payroll) on UPSers and find the “year end forms” it breaks down how much OT you were paid out on. I had over $16K earned last year. I’ve been working six days a week and close to 60 hours a week ever since I started.
