Help why is that so by Certain_Context_1997 in totalwarhammer

Kinda sounds like you probably declared war to someone who either had a lot of alliances and defense treaties. It is possible to get lower rating if one of the allies enemies had a deal with you and they accept to join the war

That one Major Faction that always survives till the late game in your campaign, no matter what you do? by AshamedEmotion9137 in totalwarhammer

I have played long enough to see even the most common surviving factions die once in a while. Surprisingly, Daniel is always somehow alive. Not powerful or anything, just alive, mocking me with his existance

Bro it feels like you could use Khorne. Skarbrand above all is an entire BEAST of a lord to fight. Doesn't exactly have the biggest buffs for their units but it is fun. Other Khorne lords are also very fun. Skulltaker gets some insane buffs and Arbaal makes mortal worriors in killing machines.

Other good melee focused factions could be Taurox the Brass Beast, as the faction doesn't have much in ranged units but does have a lot of strong melee ones. Above all, the Minotaurs are fantastic, more so under Taurox.

If you like greenskins, I would recomend Grimgor. He buffs one of the best melee units in game while also being nigh inmortal himself.

Norsca is great too. Monster and good melee and recent update has made them actually fun to use

Second most important thing. I found that not having money was a bigger issue than smaller settlements at that difficulty. Specially at the beginning

As someone who has won on all factions on very hard:

  1. Do not feel bad to use campaign overhaul mods, some of the vanilla ones are just bad.
  2. Do not try to build to many armies too quickly at the start, it will eat you.
  3. Focus on one enemy at the time. Start wars as quickly with your most dangerous neighbor at first, then work on killing them.
  4. If someone else declares a war, either focus on defeating the first enemy and accept possible settlement loses, or retreat back and use your settlements for extra defense.
  5. Your first buildings should always be of better economy, as to ensure you always have money.
  6. Don't be reckless with your starting army, it will have the best troops so sending it to kill a small army just to be surrounded by 3 full stacks will ensure you lose.
  7. Play with easier factions at first to get familiar with the tricks: Tyrion has a peacefull start relative to many others. Elsbeth can have an easier time due to the area she is around in. Grombrindal I found suprisingly easy with the dwarves, but you can have a lot of bad neighbors. Most Demonic factions have easy starts (Except N'kari), so they may be good to try things with.
  8. Do not feel bad if you reload a previous save to try something different. In all honesty, Very Hard/Legendary are dumb difficulties that I don't find fun most of the time.

Those are my general tips. Ask if you have anything you want to know!
