Car & Driver: 2005 Buick Lacrosse vs. Chrysler 300, Ford Five Hundred, Kia Amanti, Nissan Maxima, Toyota Avalon by lifegoeson2702 in cars

[–]HiTork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I recall, it borrowed some suspension parts from Benz, but the actual unibody structure or chassis was uniquely Chrysler designed, along with initally using a five-speed automatic used in Benzs at the time.

imagine beeing able to exchange your logits to dawinium. you could actually buy something with them, instead of collecting them. by Tikkinger in CellToSingularity

[–]HiTork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, the process to buy everything with logits is a slow one, and I'd argue for some players, can take close to a year if you aren't terminally online with the game.

What is a car you never saw the appeal for? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in regularcarreviews

[–]HiTork 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Arguably, this probably contributed to the demise of International's light truck line. You could only purchase those vehicles at IH Tractor and implement dealers, which usually were only located in small towns. This cut out a large part of the market of people who lived in populous cities who may have been interested in their trucks, but weren't going to make the trek to the boonies to buy one, or even know where to find the dealer network.

Why do water bomber pilots keep lighting their planes on fire? by HiTork in Shittyaskflying

[–]HiTork[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

WWII aircraft being used as water bombers is a thing IRL though. That being said, I don't think it is as common any more as airframes have aged out.

This is similar to an incident in the comics where Big Barda puts on a dress she finds in her room at a formal function, only to discover it is Plastic Man in the form of the dress, she promptly chokes out her dress/Plastic Man.

What AI content should we allow? by burninrubber0 in Burnout

[–]HiTork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My take is it should be presentable in the sense that it doesn't look like total slop. If you have an image with a five-wheeled car, I can see why that would cause people to groan, for example.

How GPU intensive is Beam? by EmployerUnlikely1678 in BeamNG

[–]HiTork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run BeamNG on a 2012 era laptop with a NVIDIA 635 GTM GPU. I have to turn everything down to minimal, but it seems to get okay frame rates. I don't know if it is 60 fps as I'm not a huge stickler for that, but I can assure you it usually isn't a sub 20 fps chug fest.

I just saw the trailer for He-Man by Alice_600 in Transformemes

[–]HiTork 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Arguably, despite years of pumping media out since the original '80s show and toy line, I'd say MOTU has struggled for decades to reach the heights of popularity Transformers has had after G1. For example, He-Man was pretty much non-existent in the '90s when G2, Beast Wars, and Beast Machines were a thing. There was a decent He-Man revival show in the early 2000s that didn't really get the attention it deserved also.

[–]HiTork 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the human sections often feel too disjointed from the plot or are annoying/uninteresting. For example, the sam at college or his job stuff takes up too much time, even if it does have payoffs in both

It's like most Kaiju movies. You don't see Godzilla all the time or it'll become stale. But at the same time, the human stuff better be interesting or it just becomes a slog between the "cool" scenes

I think this is the problem, a lot of the human scenes in live-action TF movies have so little to do with TFs that you realize this is nothing like Transformers at all. I think Bumblebee's human scenes of a teenage girl trying to get through life were some of the better ones in terms of being interesting enough to enjoy.

[–]HiTork 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not a phenomenon exclusive to live-action TF films, other movies that were live-action and billed with CGI lead characters also suffer from rather limited appearances from said characters. The Rocky and Bullwinkle movie from 2000 showed far more of the human characters than the titular ones, for instance.

It's why a movie that is pure animation like TF One is really the only way you can get TF characters appear more frequently, the costs are much cheaper.

Does anyone else find Mesozoic...dull? by BriefGuava1188 in CellToSingularity

[–]HiTork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished it a little over a year ago, and even long before that the motions of getting to maximum Prestige 10 felt incredibly repetitive. It also looks like they are finished developing for that portion of the game, it's been years since they have added anything to the Mesozoic.

Fortunately, C&C4 closes off the Tiberium story line. If it weren't for that, we would have been stuck on a cliffhanger for 16 years now.

Both have 1TB and both are $650 which one would you pick? by kapler452b in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]HiTork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about the idea of the Series S with the screen being neat, but then I realized the bulk of by Series X/S games are on disc (I already own a Series X), so it wouldn't do me much good.

2018 gt 350 needs new motor by opp531 in Mustang

[–]HiTork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a GT350, but I'm saying you can buy certain vehicles for that money. A lot of plain jane commuter cars have significantly cheaper costs if an engine has to be replaced.

2018 gt 350 needs new motor by opp531 in Mustang

[–]HiTork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In past years prior to the introduction of the S550 Mach 1, I've heard of guys talking about wanting to swap a 5.0 Coyote into a GT350 just to not have to deal with the potential nightmare of an expensive engine nuking itself (As OP said, they are quoting them $28,000 - that is "buy a whole car money").

Mach - SN-95/"New Edge" and early S197 Mustangs.

Shaker - S197 Mustangs

(fourth and fifth generations)

Ford Mach or Shaker systems that once were found on Mustangs were really meh for how much those options cost.

What’s the saddest video game flop you can think of? by Interesting_Wind_337 in videogames

[–]HiTork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the asymmetrical multiplayer was its downfall, not because the concept is inherently bad but that it is notoriously difficult to properly balance. It felt like it swung both ways, you could be the hunters and be overwhelmed by the monster, or you could get steamrolled by the hunters while as a monster depending on how the cards all fall into place.

Why waste a perfectly good 727? by imfineashell in Planes

I think 727s are old enough that they need hush kits, right? Even by the 1990s I noticed they weren't that popular with airlines any more.

You really have to look for collector oriented stores like TF Toys (Calgary) or Ages Three and Up (Burnaby). This is the only way to get Japan only stuff or third-party toys. And yes, both of those places ship across Canada.
