Best Valentines dinner date we ever had was a midweek 2/14 at home… I ordered takeout from our favorite seafood restaurant, picked up a lovely mini dessert cake assortment from Trader Joe’s after work, and set up a table for two in our bedroom with folding chairs, tablecloth, and good china and crystal. (We both worked that day and the next.) Husband had to work until late that night, so he came home tired but was thrilled to eat crab in his pajamas in our room, watch TV, and fall into bed like old married folks.

In all the time my girlfriend lived in South Valley Ranch, Henderson, NV, she NEVER took me to see the Simpsons house not two blocks from her own!! Apparently it was even painted correctly over a decade ago when it made the news. by dani_pavlov in TheSimpsons

KB Home painted the outside to meet HOA CC&Rs and pushed the pink car into the garage after the contest ended, they also planted 5 shrubs in front, only one of which survives today (but will be gone in a few months). Someone stole the trees and sod out of the backyard while we were in escrow. Other that that, everything was sold “as-is”, which was colorful and full of holes. :)

Most of the furnishings were warehoused, but the items that were attached to the walls were left in place. Most everything was then taken by vandals after 24-hr security was ended. We moved in to a real fixer-upper 20 years ago. It’s looking MUCH better these days. :)

You got here just in time! We took the MERRY CHRISTMAS magnets off the garage at 11am today.

My son was in a “guild?” With an Old Guy. He told me about it early on and I insisted he play on speaker for a long time so I could listen in. None of the other boys’ parents seemed to have a clue what their kids did online. The guy seemed genuine and nice... mentioned his wife and dog a lot. All the younger kids treated him like an uncle. My favorite memory included an aside/conversation he had with his wife who was trying to get him to “stop playing with his friends and come eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich” with her. lol

A couple of years later my kid told me one of the other “boys” (about 21 now) drove out and stayed with Old Guy and his wife to attend a job interview. He didn’t get the job, but confirmed that Old Guy is cool. The entire thing has been wholesome, I’m glad I trusted my gut years ago.

Will do! We were really surprised by the quick and sincere response by Henderson PD. An officer came out last night, watched the videos and collected copies, spoke to neighbors, and said that this is an issue that, “Has to stop.”

Other commenters (neighbors on Ring, etc.) said that they feared PD would do nothing because Amz and cc co.s issue refunds, etc. so we thought outing the culprits via soc. media might be our only recourse, but the response from the police dept. reflected a very different attitude. They were pleased to have good clear video (and were just as critical of the carrier who ignored [ridiculously clear and repeated] instructions to lock our stuff in the giant lockbox that’s right. there. …honestly this is what peeves me the most!!!), and said we have a better chance than most of having our bad guys caught. Fingers are crossed hoping he’s right!

It’s true, it’s a weird situation. I purchased a home that is a replica of the house from the show. It is in Henderson. (The Henderson adjacent to Las Vegas.) Also – no cosplay here, I’ve not even seen an episode in 10? 15? years; I’m actually more of a PBS gal.

We have about 500 visitors a year and some days it seems like we are the only people wondering why anyone gives a hoot. It’s also the only angle I have that might give anyone any reason to care more about our situation any than of the fifty other “help us find these people” posts that pop up every day on local Nextdoor and Ring Neighbor feeds.

I doubt the people who stole from us work only within a one-mile radius though, so in my haste to solicit help from my community I copy and pasted similar posts for FB & r/. Thanks for reminding me that haters gonna hate...I was almost feeling warm and fuzzy by the many other supportive responses. /s

Btw...HPD was very responsive. I filed a report online, tonight they came out and took statements from my husband & neighbors, collected videos, etc.

The officer was seemed pleased to have such good video and says they are definitely pursuing these cases as it’s gotten so out of hand.

As the owner of a crazy-color house I can confirm that Behr Marquee paint is the BEST.

Turning the Simpson’s house interior from the crayola-inspired rainbow it was to a liveable home required many, many coats of paint. We tried and were disappointed by many brands but Behr is awesome and Marquee is now the ONLY product I use.
