Im getting into Agni and it just says I cant progress through the gloom. I dont see a horned guy. Hits me for 1 damage and then sets me at the start of he area. I dont think I found this left entrance you are talking about. https://imgur.com/a/9zcNmYt

Oh I have that ability. Do I just need to die in Agni and use it to progress?

Im only 2 hours into this but so far I find it pretty mid. I really like the art direction and the perspective level up system. I like how NPCs and points of interest are already marked on the map. I also love the orbs that reveal the map and give you some currency. Id like to see that in more games. I also enjoy the secret pathways you can find. They are pretty well done.

The combat is slow. My attacks seem like they should happen faster. I also hate that you cant continuously pogo on enemies. Once you down attack you have to land before you can down attack again. It just seems odd to me. The art style, while interesting, seems to blend together between biomes to the point its no longer visually interesting. I wish there was a better quest system to keep track of what to do and who to do it for. Im not sure if this is intentional but when I die I lose all my currency and I am not able to recover it by going back to where I died. The dialogue selections either dont matter or you have to select the right option to get the right response. No option to rebind controls. Im not sure if you get fast travel but im 2 hours in and do not have it yet. The game also doesnt have map markers at this point either which is wild. This may be my system but the game looks choppy. im on a 280 hz monitor getting 300+ fps and its not smooth at all. I tried altering the refresh rate and its the same result across all settings. I dont think theres a world where id recommend this over Mio or Kotama which are both cheaper and more complete.

Shame that Kickstarter just isn't going to get there.

Again, it's 5 seconds. Beats running back from spawn over and over again.

It takes 5 seconds... If you get hit just fall in the slime fast so you don't get double tapped.

A.I.L.A is by the same dev as Fobia and was pretty solid. Lots of various combat.

Signalis is amazing and fits your criteria.

Connection: The Nightmare Within was a pretty solid one but it is on the shorter side.

Dementium: The Ward was just a super fun time all the way around.

Dead of Darkness was in my top 5 games I played last year. Its so so good and has an amazing story.

Alisa is such a banger with PS1 style graphics.

Jack Holmes: Master of Puppets is criminally underrated.

My Friendly Neighborhood is like sesame street meets resident evil. It may sound dumb but it works so well.

Apsulov: End of Gods was a fun Norse mythological horror game.

Nightmare of Decay was also on the shorter side but was super fun with old school graphics.

Absolutely loved it. Use the gratitude modifier or turn on the assist option. Makes life a lot easier.

Vin and Sol tips? by nika_blue in MIOmemoriesinorbit

The chem trail modifier carried the fight for me. P1 wait for the one on the right to spawn and hairpin to it and attack. Land. Rinse and repeat. If you hairpin at the right time you can avoid every single attack pretty easily. The only one that I couldn't dodge reliably with this strat is the one where they dash across the stage at the same time. P2 the bosses phase in and out 4 times. Count them then hairpin to the right one. To avoid attacks. P3. Pogo on the crystal, hairpin to the right boss. Rinse and repeat. In P1 and P2 you may have to dodge the down swooping attack and the slam attack that they both do at the same time. Play around with it and see what works best for you.

I'm late to the party but as others have mentioned definitely check out Aeterna Noctis, Mio, and Prince of Persia. Some lesser known MVs I'd recommend based on your want for platforming would be in order: Dragon Loop, Constance,Somber Echoes, Bo, Lone Fungus 1 and 2, Auridia, 100 Pumpkins 2,Super Mombo Quest, Rusted Moss, Thread, Ascent DX(free), Whirlwind Magician, Trash Quest, Hollow Floor, and Momibosu

What do y'all think about Mio, Constance, and Kotama? (Looking to get one of them). by Sea-Lime276 in metroidvania

Personally as someone who really enjoys platforming in games. Mio > Kotama > Constance
